Applied for NY unemployment, got 'Claim Can now be Paid' text, but no payment yet. When to expect?
I applied for unemployment benefits on March 25th. My BYE week shows as 3/28 (Released), and I can see my benefit amount, days, and maximum payable amount. I got a text saying 'Claim Can now be Paid' about two weeks ago. But I still haven't received any payment. When should I expect my first payment to come through? Anyone else experiencing delays?

Ugh, the waiting game is the worst! š« I was in a similar situation last month. It took about 3 weeks after I got that text for the money to hit my account. Hang in there!

ā¢3 weeks?! š± That's so long. Did you have to do anything extra or it just showed up?

ā¢Nope, just waited. The system's slow af. But if it goes past 3 weeks, def try to get ahold of someone.

Hey guys, I found a method to actually get someone on the phone at NY unemployment. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

ā¢Sounds too good to be true. How does it work exactly? Is it legit?

ā¢I get the skepticism, but it's legit. It just automates the calling process. You still talk to a real NY unemployment agent. Saved me hours of frustration.

ā¢Can confirm, I used it too. Worth every penny when you're pulling your hair out trying to reach someone.

The ny unemployment system is such a joke. 𤔠I swear they make it confusing on purpose. Have you tried calling them? Might speed things up.

Listen up, because I've been through this rodeo before. Here's what you need to know about getting your first payment from NY unemployment: ⢠First, breathe. The system is slow, but it (usually) works. ⢠That 'Claim Can now be Paid' text is a good sign. It means your claim has been processed. ⢠Typically, you should see payment within 2-3 weeks of that text. ⢠Make sure you're claiming your weekly benefits. This is crucial! ⢠Double-check your payment method. Direct deposit is fastest. ⢠If it's been more than 3 weeks, it's time to contact them. Now, contacting them can be a nightmare. I highly recommend using claimyr.com. It's a service that gets you through to an agent without the endless hold times. Costs a bit, but saved my sanity. If you're still stuck after all this, consider reaching out to your local state representative. They can sometimes expedite things. Hang in there, and don't forget to document everything!

Pro tip: keep certifying every week even if you haven't gotten paid yet. They'll backpay you for those weeks once it goes through.

I went through this exact same thing earlier this year! Got the "Claim Can now be Paid" text and then... crickets for almost a month. It's so frustrating when you're counting on that money. What finally worked for me was calling super early in the morning (like 8:01 AM sharp) and just hitting redial over and over. Took about 45 minutes but I finally got through to someone who could see there was a small glitch in my account that was holding up payments. They fixed it right there on the call and I had my money within 3 business days. Also make sure you're doing your weekly certifications religiously - even if you haven't gotten paid yet, keep claiming those weeks or you'll lose them. The system will catch up and backpay you for all the weeks you certified for. Hope this helps and you see that payment soon! š

ā¢This is super helpful! š I'm definitely going to try the early morning calling strategy. That glitch thing sounds exactly like what might be happening to me. Did they tell you what kind of glitch it was? And yes, I've been keeping up with my weekly certifications - glad to know I'm doing that right at least! Thanks for the encouragement šŖ

ā¢The early morning strategy is genius! š I never thought of calling right when they open. @Megan D'Acosta do you remember what the glitch was specifically? I'm wondering if it's something common that happens to a lot of us. Really appreciate you sharing your experience - gives me hope that there might be a simple fix for mine too!
