Approved for $170 weekly unemployment - when will first payment arrive after waiting week processed on 4/24?
Just got approved for unemployment. My weekly benefit is $170. I'm looking at my claim information right now, and it shows: Start/Effective Date: 04/03/2023 Benefit Year Ending Date: 04/06/2024 Weekly Benefit Amount: $170.00 Maximum Amount Payable: $5,520.00 Effective Days Remaining: 104 The website shows my waiting week was processed on 04/24/2023. Specifically, under "Latest Transaction(s) as of 04/25/2023" it says: "You last certified for benefits for the week ending 04/23/2023. Your unpaid waiting period was processed on 04/24/2023." There's also a note that says "Weekly payments for $600 showing '0' under the 'Effective Days' column, and Debit Card or Direct Deposit under the 'Type' column, are the Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation (FPUC) payments." Anyone know when I'll actually get my first payment? I've completed my waiting week and certified for benefits, but I'm confused about when the money will hit my account. Does the system typically take a few more days after processing the waiting week?

After your waiting week, you should see the payment hit your account in 2-3 business days if you have direct deposit setup. Bank account takes a bit longer than the debit card they send you.

I found a way to actually talk to someone at unemployment about payment issues. Used this site claimyr.com - its a service that calls and waits on hold, then connects you when someone picks up. Costs $20 but worth it imo. Here's a video about how it works: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

Here's the detailed breakdown of what happens after your waiting week: - Waiting week gets processed (yours was 4/24) - First payment usually releases 2-3 business days after - Direct deposit takes 1-2 additional business days - Debit card can take 7-10 days to arrive in mail If you don't see anything by next week, highly recommend using claimyr.com to get someone on the phone. Way better than trying to call yourself. Make sure you keep certifying every week between Sunday-Saturday. Missing a certification will delay everything!

Hey Jackson! I'm in a similar situation - just got approved last week and going through the same waiting game. From what I've experienced and heard from others, the timing can be pretty inconsistent. Some people get their first payment within a few days of the waiting week processing, others wait 1-2 weeks. Since your waiting week was processed on 4/24, I'd expect to see something by early next week if everything goes smoothly. The key thing is to keep certifying every week like clockwork - that's what trips up a lot of people and causes delays. If you don't see anything by next Friday, definitely consider calling or using one of those callback services people mentioned. Good luck!

•Thanks Mia! Really appreciate hearing from someone going through the same thing. It's reassuring to know the timeline can vary but that early next week is realistic. I'll definitely keep up with the weekly certifications - seems like that's the #1 thing that trips people up. Fingers crossed we both see our payments soon! 🤞
