check ur email!!! sometimes they send u a message through the system but dont actually notify u. log into ur account on a computer (not mobile) and check for messages. bet they sent u something about needing additional info.
DOL employee here (not in NY but another state with the same system). There are a few reasons this happens: 1. Most likely: their system does quarterly reviews and sometimes flags accounts for verification even if there's no actual break 2. If you certified later in the day than usual (like evening vs morning), some systems flag this as unusual activity 3. If you used a different device or IP address to certify 4. Random selection for fraud prevention Just answer the questions accurately based on your real situation. If you haven't returned to work, say no. If it asks for an EIN, you can usually leave it blank if you haven't worked anywhere new. If your payment doesn't come through within 3-4 business days, then you need to call. But 9 times out of 10, this resolves itself without any problems.
lmao welcome to NY unemployment, where nothing makes sense and the rules are made up 🤡 But for real, you need to apply for PEUC extension. The system should have done this automatically but it's broken af. You gotta call and talk to someone.
where nothing makes sense and the rules are made" up is LITERALLY the perfect description of NYSDOL🤣
This is sucha common issue with ny unemployment right now! I went through it last month. Your regular UI benefits expired (usually after 26 weeks), and you need to switch to the extension program. The $300 federal supplement continues until Sept 4, but only if youre getting some form of base unemployment.
yo if youre still having this problem after a few days DM me, i know someone who can help get your claim pushed through faster
I just went thru this hell. They ask all the same questions from the original application. Make sure she knows: - exact dates of her last employment - employer address and phone - reason for unemployment - what job search activities she's done And the MOST IMPORTANT thing: don't give up if the line disconnects! It took me 27 calls over 3 days to finally get through. The system is a nightmare right now.
The NY unemployment system is such a joke. I spent a total of 19 hours over 3 days trying to speak to someone for my benefit extension. Eventually I caved and used a service called Claimyr that basically waits on hold for you. Got through in about 2 hours and fixed my issue. The system is deliberately broken to discourage people from collecting what they're entitled to. Keep pushing and don't give up.
I've seen a few people mention Claimyr now. I'll definitely look into it if she has trouble getting through. Thanks for the suggestion!

has ur roomate checked her payment history on the website? sometimes it will show a hold reason. login > payment history > look for any message in red

•She checked and there's nothing showing up at all for the last 2 weeks, not even a pending payment or hold message. It's like the certifications just disappeared.

Everytime the system "updates" this happens to thousands of people. It's like clockwork. I've been on unemployment since last year and had to deal with this 4 separate times. Each time the only solution was calling. Save yourself the headache and use a service to get thru. I've used claimyr.com twice and it was worth every penny since I got my benefits back in days instead of weeks.

•are there any other alternatives to claimyr? just curious if there are cheaper options

•Not that I know of. I tried some auto-dialer apps but they didn't work for getting through the unemployment IVR system. This was the only thing that worked for me.
