NY unemployment payments still missing after IDME verification and holds lifted

So I finally got through the IDME verification process back on Tuesday, and according to the website my payment holds were lifted yesterday. But I'm still not seeing any payments come through. I've been certifying faithfully every single Sunday since September 2021, but the system keeps showing I haven't certified since August 15th, which is totally false! I'm missing almost 3 months of backpay at this point. Has anyone else dealt with this after getting their IDME verified? How long did it take for your payments to actually start coming in after your holds were removed? Did you have to do anything special to get your backpay? The bills are seriously piling up and I'm getting desperate.

Same exact issue. IDME verified me 3 weeks ago, holds were lifted but still no payments. Every time I call they just tell me to 'wait' but my landlord isn't waiting and I'm about to be evicted. This system is absolute garbage.

Have you tried calling the appeals department instead of the regular line? Sometimes they can escalate payment issues faster than the regular reps.

No I haven't! I didnt even know that was an option. Do you have that number by any chance?

I'm going to try this too, desperate at this point. Bills don't care about IDME verification 😭

I don't have it handy but if you google ny unemployment appeals dept you'll find it. just be prepared to wait forever still...

After struggling with the same problem, I finally found a solution that worked. I used this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) and they connected me to an actual human at unemployment. Talking to a real agent got my backpay released within 48 hours. It was the only way I could get through after weeks of trying. They even have a video explaining how it works: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

sounds too good to be true... does this actually work or is it another scam trying to prey on desperate people? 🤔

Not a scam at all! I was skeptical too, but I was at my wits end after trying to get through for weeks. Money was well spent considering I got all my backpay released right away. The service just connects you with an actual agent.

yeah right, another 'miracle solution'... what's the catch? 🙄

I used it last month when I was about to lose my apartment. Worth every penny because I had 6 weeks of backpay that got released after a 10 min convo with the agent.

another day, another company promising to fix the unfixable unemployment system lol

Listen I get the skepticism - I felt the same way! But when you've been trying to get through for weeks and bills are piling up, you get desperate. This actually worked tho. They don't fix anything themselves - they just get you past the impossible phone queue.

For me it took exactly 9 days after IDME verification for payments to start flowing. But the backpay was a whole other issue. Had to specifically request it during a call with a rep. They don't automatically process it even when they should!

The certification issue is the biggest red flag here. If the system doesn't recognize your certifications, you won't get paid regardless of IDME status. You NEED to talk to someone on the phone who can manually fix this in their system. I had the exact same problem - the website kept saying I hadn't certified since 2021 even though I had receipts proving I did every week.

Any tips on how to actually get someone on the phone? I've tried calling over 50 times in the past week alone.

Honestly the only way I got through was using claimyr.com. Tried for weeks before that with no luck. My back payments were released the same day I finally spoke to someone.

Everyone here is suggesting to call but nobody's explaining HOW to actually get through 😂 I spent literally 14 hours last week trying to get a human on the phone without success. It's like they designed the system to be impossible to navigate

When my IDME got verified it took about 5 business days for the $$$ to hit my account. BUT here's the important part - I had to call and specifically request them to release my back pay. Otherwise they only start paying going forward from when the holds were lifted. Stupid system.

How did you get through on the phone? I've been trying for days!!

Tbh I got lucky and called right when they opened at 8am. Still waited 1.5 hours but at least got through. Keep trying different times of day.

Ok let me share what ACTUALLY worked for me after dealing with this EXACT issue for 11 weeks: 1) The certification issue is a known glitch in their system. Even if you've been certifying, their database sometimes doesn't update correctly after an IDME verification. 2) The ONLY way to fix this is to speak with a Tier 2 specialist who can manually review and release your payments. 3) Regular phone reps can't help with this - you need someone with higher access. 4) I wasted weeks trying to call until I found claimyr.com which got me through to an actual specialist. They stayed on hold so I didn't have to. 5) The specialist fixed everything in one call - updated my certifications and released all my backpay. 6) Money was in my account 2 business days later. Don't waste time with emails or regular phone calls - they just tell you to wait which doesn't fix the system error. You need to speak to a specialist who can manually override the certification issue.

wait hold up - does this actually work or is it just the usual BS? not falling for another unemployment 'hack'...

It's not a hack - it's just a service that waits on hold for you then calls you when they reach a rep. Unemployment's actual reps fix your issue. I was desperate after trying for weeks and it worked.

Going to try this right now, thanks for the detailed explanation! Anything special I should ask for when I get someone on the phone?

Ask specifically for a 'manual certification review' and tell them the system isn't recognizing your weekly certifications. Make sure they check all the weeks you're missing. Good luck!

Hate to be that person but... have you tried emailing your state representative? After 2 months of getting nowhere, I emailed mine with all my info and they got it fixed within a week.

This! My assemblyman's office got my issue fixed when calling for months did nothing.

I tried this and got a generic response saying they'd "look into it" but never heard back 🙃

You gotta be persistent. Call their office daily and specifically ask to speak to the staff member who handles DOL issues.

The NY unemployment system is DESIGNED to be difficult. They make it hard on purpose so people give up trying to get what they're legally entitled to. Don't let them win!

Yo real talk? Try Twitter. I DMed @NYSLabor with my issue and got a response within a day. They can't discuss specifics in public but they gave me a direct number to call and flagged my account. Worth a shot.

THIS!!! Twitter worked for me too! Sometimes public shaming is the only way to get them to do their job 💅

I had the exact same issue in October! Verified through IDME but the system wouldn't recognize my previous certifications. Turns out there was an actual FRAUD HOLD that was different from the IDME hold. The agent had to manually remove both holds. After that my backpay came within 3 days.

How do you check if there's a fraud hold? My online account doesn't show anything like that

0 coins

-

Nina Fitzgerald

You can't see it online. Only a phone rep can tell you. They have access to notes and holds that aren't visible to us in the portal.

ok so here's what no one tells you: after IDME verification there's ANOTHER review by DOL staff that can take 2-14 business days depending on your case complexity. This is completely separate from IDME saying you're verified. They don't tell us this tho...

DOCUMENT EVERYTHING!!! Screenshots of your weekly certifications, confirmation numbers, emails - everything! Had to fight for 2 months to get my payments and the only reason I won was because I had proof I'd been certifying all along when they claimed I hadn't.

Good advice, I've been taking screenshots every week thankfully

I'm laughing at all you people saying "just call them" like that's so easy 🤣 I called 87 TIMES last Thursday and never got through. The system is broken beyond belief.
