Just completed ID.me for NY unemployment - what are the next steps to get paid?
After waiting for almost 3 months with my claim pending, I finally completed the ID.me verification process yesterday. The verification went through successfully on the first try (thank goodness!). I received the confirmation email saying I was verified, but my account still shows as pending in the system. I've been faithfully certifying my benefits every week since I filed back in August, but haven't seen a penny yet. My question is - what happens next? Do I need to call someone? Is there another step I'm missing? How long after completing ID.me verification should I expect to start receiving payments? The waiting is driving me nuts since my savings are almost gone. Anyone else been through this recently?

I was in the exact same situation about 5 weeks ago. ID.me verification went through but nothing happened for another week. You probably need to call them to move it forward. I spent days trying to get through on the phone until I found this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me a callback with an actual agent. When I finally talked to someone, they released all my back payments within 48 hours! It was the best money I've ever spent to finally get my benefits paid. Check out this video about it: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

•Does this thing actually work? Sounds too good to be true. I've been trying to get through for weeks 😩

•Yeah it works, I was super skeptical too. But I was desperate after trying to call for like 2 weeks straight. They just keep you from having to redial and sit on hold yourself.

•wait hold up - does this actually work or is it just the usual BS? I've been calling for MONTHS

•I wouldnt recommend it if it didnt work for me 🤷♀️ Not saying it's magic but it did get me through when nothing else worked

•yeah right, another 'miracle solution'... what's the catch? 🙄

•No catch - they just sit on hold so you don't have to. I was about to throw my phone after 3 days of trying. This just worked for me.

Once ID.me is complete, you DEFINITELY need to call them to release your funds. They don't automatically do it. I waited 3 weeks thinking it would process automatically but nope! Had to call. Got 8 weeks of backpay at once when they fixed it.

•Ugh that's frustrating! How long did it take you to get through on the phone? I've been trying to call but can't even get in the queue.

•took me 217 calls over 2 days... not exaggerating. The system is a complete joke.

Here's what you need to know about NY unemployment after ID.me verification: 1. ID.me is just one step in the verification process. Your claim is still under review until a claims examiner manually approves it. 2. Unfortunately, this doesn't happen automatically. You almost certainly need to call to have them release the hold on your account. 3. Calling is notoriously difficult - plan to spend hours/days trying or use a service like claimyr.com that will wait on hold for you. 4. When you do get through, make sure they: - Verify all ID.me info is properly linked to your claim - Check if there are any other holds or issues - Specifically ask them to release all backpay - Get a confirmation number for the call 5. Once resolved, payments typically process within 3-5 business days. 6. Keep certifying weekly even while waiting! I had the same issue in July - once I finally spoke with a rep, they fixed everything immediately. The system is overwhelmed but persistence pays off. Good luck!

They STILL have my account on hold after completing ID.me THREE months ago. Every time I call they say it's being "processed" and to wait another week. Then another. Then another. The entire system is designed to make people give up.

•this is why I tell everyone to contact their state assembly person! They can escalate and get answers the regular phone agents can't.

•tried that too. Mine sent a "formal inquiry" but its been 3 weeks with no response 🙃

This happened to me in February. After ID.me verification I still had to wait about 10 days and then one morning all my back payments just showed up at once. I never ended up having to call. Maybe I just got lucky tho?

•You're definitely one of the lucky ones. Most of us have to fight for it 😭

just a heads up, ID.me verification is only valid for 90 days in some cases (dont know if this is true for NY specifically). My friend in Illinois had to do it AGAIN after his expired. So if you dont get this resolved soon you might have to reverify. System is a joke lmao

•Yeah I checked - nothing there yet. Just shows all my weekly certifications as "processed" but no payment release dates.

CALL THEM IMMEDIATELY!!! do not wait!!! the id.me verification doesn't automatically release your payments - someone has to manually review and approve it. And with the backlog, they might not get to it for weeks or months unless you call and ask them to expedite it.

I used claimyr.com to get through on the phone after ID.me verification. The agent said my account was stuck in limbo because the ID.me verification was showing in their system but nobody had processed it. She fixed it in like 5 minutes once I got her on the phone.

call your state assemby person!!! seriously, they have direct contacts at nysdol and can get things moving much faster than you trying to call yourself.

Anyone else notice that the verification system is totally different now than it was a few months ago? I had to verify in April and again in October (different claims) and the whole process changed. Seems like they're constantly changing the system but never making it work better 🙄

After my ID.me went through I had to upload MORE documents to the message portal because they said they needed additional verification 🤡 make sure to check if they sent you any messages in the online portal

NYS unemployment is such a joke man. They operate like its still 1995. ID.me is just one hurdle - theres about 7 more arbitrary roadblocks they'll put in your way before you actually get paid 💯

•for real! i think they make it complicated on purpose so people give up
