Next steps after NY unemployment ID.me verification? Still waiting for payment

I finally completed the ID.me verification for my NY unemployment claim and it went through successfully. But now I'm confused about what happens next. Do I need to take any additional steps to start receiving my benefits? I've been faithfully certifying every week since I filed my claim (about 5 weeks ago), but haven't seen a penny yet. The unemployment website just says my claim is 'pending' with no other information. Will the money automatically start coming now that ID.me is done? How long should I expect to wait? Getting really anxious as bills are piling up!

After your ID.me verification is accepted, the system should automatically process your claim within 2-3 business days. If your claim status is still showing as 'pending' after that timeframe, you should call NYSDOL directly. I was in the same situation in January and had to call to get it resolved - turns out there was another verification step needed that wasn't showing on my online account.

Thanks for the info! It's been 4 business days already and still nothing has changed. I've tried calling but can't get through - it's either busy signals or the automated system hangs up saying call volumes are too high. So frustrating!

u might need to wait longer tbh. my sister did her id.me thing and it took like 2 WEEKS before anything changed on her account. the system is super backed up right now

This is incorrect information. The current processing time after ID.me verification should be 3-5 business days maximum according to the NYSDOL website. If it's taking longer, there's likely another issue with the claim that needs to be addressed.

I JUST went through this exact nightmare in February!! After ID.me verification there's STILL a waiting period while they process everything. The website NEVER tells you this! I certified for 7 WEEKS with nothing!!! You NEED to call them because there's probably another issue they haven't told you about. Good luck getting through though - I tried for DAYS!!!! The phone system is GARBAGE!!!

This happened to me too. After ID.me verification, I had to wait 5 days, then call to find out they needed additional wage verification that was never mentioned online. Have you tried using Claimyr to get through to an agent? I was skeptical but it actually worked - got through to a real person in about 20 minutes instead of spending days redialing. Their website is claimyr.com and they have a video demo showing how it works: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

After ID.me there's usually a 72 hour processing period. Did you get an email confirmation from NYSDOL (not just ID.me) saying your verification was accepted? Check your spam folder too.

I got the confirmation email from ID.me but nothing from NYSDOL directly. Just checked my spam folder too - nothing there either. Should I be worried?

After your ID.me verification is complete, here's what typically happens: 1. ID.me sends the verification to NYSDOL (takes 24-48 hours) 2. NYSDOL processes the verification (takes 1-3 business days) 3. If everything else on your claim is in order, your status should change to 'approved' 4. First payment usually arrives 2-3 business days after approval If you're still showing 'pending' after this timeframe, you need to contact NYSDOL directly as there may be another issue with your claim. Common issues include: - Incomplete employment history - Wage verification required - Former employer dispute - Additional identity verification needed I recommend checking your message inbox on the NYSDOL portal as well - sometimes they send notices there that don't get emailed.

Thank you for the detailed breakdown! I just checked my message inbox on the portal and there's nothing there. I'll give it one more day, then try to get through on the phone.

Update: I tried that Claimyr service someone mentioned above when I was having similar issues last month. It did actually get me through to a real person at NYSDOL after trying for days on my own with no luck. In my case, there was a flag on my account because my former employer contested something, but the system never notified me. The agent was able to fix it right there on the call.

Thanks for sharing your experience! I'm going to try Claimyr tomorrow if my status doesn't change. At this point I just need to speak to someone who can tell me what's going on.

I'm an unemployment consultant, and I see this situation frequently. After ID.me verification, your case goes into a secondary review queue at NYSDOL. Current processing times are approximately 3-5 business days. However, if you've been certifying for 5 weeks total with no payments, there's likely another issue with your claim beyond identity verification. The most common secondary issues are: 1. Wage verification discrepancies 2. Employer response issues 3. Availability for work questions 4. Previous overpayment flags I strongly recommend contacting NYSDOL directly. While their phone system is overwhelmed, persistence is key. Try calling at 8:00am exactly when their system opens, or alternatively, between 4:00-4:30pm when call volumes sometimes decrease.

Thank you for this detailed information! I've been trying to call at different times with no luck. I'll try right at 8am tomorrow as you suggested. Would it help if I also send them a message through the online portal?

UPDATE: I finally got through to someone at NYSDOL! Turns out there was an issue with my employment history that required additional documentation - something that was never mentioned anywhere on my online account. They said once I submit the additional info (which I did while on the call), my payments should process within 7-10 days including all the back weeks I've certified for. Such a relief to at least know what was happening! For anyone else struggling to get through, I used the Claimyr service mentioned above and got connected to an agent in about 25 minutes. Worth it after days of failed calling attempts.
