How long after ID.me verification does NY unemployment direct deposit money arrive?
I just completed my ID.me verification for my NY unemployment claim on Tuesday. The system says my claim is now 'approved' but I still haven't received any money in my account. Is this normal?? This is my first time filing and I picked direct deposit. How many days should I expect to wait after the ID.me verification before the money hits my account? Getting kinda worried since rent is due next week...

For me, it took about 3 business days after ID.me verification before the first payment hit my account. So if you verified on Tuesday, you might see it by Friday or Monday. The first payment sometimes takes a bit longer, but after that, it's usually consistent each week as long as you certify on time.

The official timeline from NYSDOL is 3-5 business days after ID.me verification for direct deposit, but it can definitely take longer depending on several factors: 1. If it's your first payment, it often takes longer than subsequent payments 2. If there were any issues with your banking information 3. If your claim was flagged for additional review 4. Current processing volume at NYSDOL The good news is that all payments will be backdated to when you first became eligible, so you won't lose any money - it's just a timing issue. Make sure you keep certifying weekly even if you haven't received your first payment yet.

My cousin just went thru this last month. His took 4 days after the id.me stuff. But my neighbor said hers took over a week. I think it depends on how busy they are?

After my ID.me verification was completed, I waited 8 business days with no payment and no updates on my account. I kept calling the regular unemployment number but couldn't get through to anyone. I was getting desperate since I had bills coming due. I finally found this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me connected to an actual NYSDOL representative in about 20 minutes instead of spending days trying to get through. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE Turns out there was a small discrepancy between my banking info and my claim that was holding things up. The rep fixed it on the spot and my payment came through the next day. Might be worth trying if you're getting close to your rent due date and still don't see anything.

•Thank you! I'll give it another couple days but if nothing shows up I might try that. Was starting to feel like I'd never talk to an actual person.

THE WHOLE SYSTEM IS RIGGED TO MAKE US WAIT!!! I verified through ID.me in January and STILL had to wait 11 days for my first payment!!! Meanwhile bills pile up and they don't care!!! They say 3-5 days but that's a LIE!!! Nobody answers the phones and the website is USELESS for finding real information!!!

•While I understand your frustration, the system isn't designed to make people wait intentionally. The NYSDOL is processing thousands of claims daily, and verification steps are necessary to prevent fraud. The 3-5 day estimate is accurate for many people, but processing times vary based on claim complexity and current volume. I do agree that communication could be improved.

Hey, just so you know, if you did your ID.me verification but haven't received your ReleasePay notification yet, that could be why. After ID.me, there's sometimes an additional step where they send you a message in your online account saying your payment has been released. For me, it was about 2 days after ID.me verification before I got the ReleasePay notification, and then the money showed up 2 days after that. So total of 4 business days from ID.me to money.

•Wait what's a ReleasePay notification? I don't see anything like that in my messages. Should I be looking somewhere specific?

•Check under "Messages" in your NY.gov unemployment account. It usually says something like "Your payment for week ending [date] has been released." If you don't see that yet, your payment is probably still processing through the system after the ID.me verification. Some people don't get that notification though, so don't panic if you don't see it.

One thing worth mentioning - if Monday is a holiday (like Memorial Day), that will add an extra day to the processing time. The NYSDOL doesn't process payments on weekends or holidays. So keep that in mind when you're counting business days.

•The ID.me part actually went pretty quick for me - took like 20 minutes total. It's just waiting for the money after verification that's stressing me out!

Quick update on 2025 timelines: The NYSDOL recently updated their processing systems in March, and many claims are now being processed faster than earlier this year. Current averages for first payments after ID.me verification: - Direct deposit: 3-5 business days - Debit card: 5-7 business days - Paper check: 7-10 business days If it goes beyond these timeframes, there might be an issue with your claim that requires attention.

•That's helpful, thanks! I'm on day 3 now (if you count the verification day) so hopefully I'll see something by early next week.

I'm new to this process too and found this thread super helpful! Just want to add that you should also make sure your bank account info is exactly right in your profile - down to the spacing and punctuation. I heard from someone at my old job that even small differences between what you put in the system vs what's actually on file with your bank can cause delays. Also, some banks (especially smaller credit unions) take an extra day or two to post ACH deposits compared to big banks like Chase or Bank of America. Hang in there - it sounds like most people do get their money eventually, just the waiting is nerve-wracking when you have bills due!

•This is really good advice about checking the bank account details! I just double-checked mine and realized I might have put an extra space in my account number when I first set it up. Going to log in and verify everything matches exactly what's on my bank statements. Thanks for mentioning the credit union thing too - I use a local credit union so that might explain part of the delay even once it gets processed. Really appreciate everyone sharing their experiences here, makes me feel less alone in this stressful process!

Just wanted to share my recent experience since I went through this exact same situation last month! I completed my ID.me verification on a Wednesday and was panicking by the following Tuesday when nothing had shown up yet. Turns out my payment actually processed on Friday (day 3) but didn't appear in my account until Monday because my bank (TD Bank) has a delay for processing ACH transfers over weekends. So even though NYSDOL sent it on time, I didn't see it until day 6! My advice: call your bank and ask about their ACH deposit timing. Some banks post immediately, others hold them until the next business day. Also, check your online banking early in the morning - mine always posts around 3-4 AM. Don't give up hope, the system really does work, it's just slower than we'd all like when we're stressed about money!

•This is such a helpful perspective! I never thought about the bank's ACH processing times being different from when NYSDOL actually sends the payment. I'm with a smaller regional bank so I should probably call them tomorrow to ask about their timing. It's day 4 for me now since ID.me verification and still nothing, but hearing that yours took 6 days total because of bank delays makes me feel a lot better. I'll start checking my account early morning like you suggested - thanks for sharing your timeline!

I'm going through the exact same thing right now! Verified through ID.me on Monday and it's now Thursday with no payment yet. Reading everyone's experiences here is really reassuring though - sounds like 3-7 days is pretty normal depending on your bank and whether it's your first payment. I keep obsessively checking my account every few hours but I'm going to try to be patient until early next week. The stress of waiting when you have bills coming due is real though! At least we know the backpay will cover everything once it finally comes through. Thanks everyone for sharing your timelines - this thread is way more helpful than the official NYSDOL website!

•I totally get that obsessive account checking - I was doing the same thing! It's such a relief to find this thread because the official site basically just says "3-5 days" with no real details about what can cause delays. I'm on day 5 now since my ID.me verification and still waiting, but reading everyone's experiences makes me feel like I'm not alone in this. The bank processing time thing that @Aisha Abdullah mentioned really opened my eyes - I never realized that could add extra days even after NYSDOL processes it. Going to call my credit union tomorrow to ask about their ACH timing. Hang in there - sounds like we re'both in the normal range based on what everyone else shared!

I went through this same anxiety last year! After my ID.me verification, it took exactly 4 business days for the payment to hit my account. Here's what I learned from the experience: 1. The "3-5 business days" timeline is pretty accurate for most people, but it doesn't include weekends or holidays 2. Your first payment often takes longer than subsequent weekly payments 3. Even if there's a delay, you'll get backpay for all the weeks you were eligible Since you verified on Tuesday, I'd expect to see something by Monday at the latest. In the meantime, make sure you keep certifying your weekly benefits even if you haven't received payment yet - that's super important to keep your claim active. One thing that helped my stress was setting up account alerts with my bank so I'd get a text when any deposit came through, rather than checking constantly. The money will come, I know it's nerve-wracking when rent is due but hang in there!
