What to do after ID.me verification for NY unemployment maximum payable amount release?
I finally got through the ID.me verification process for my NY unemployment claim yesterday. My portal shows a 'maximum payable amount' but I'm confused about what happens next. Do I need to do something else to get the money released? It's been 3 weeks since I filed my claim and I'm getting worried because my bills are piling up. Has anyone gone through this recently? How long after the ID.me verification did you start receiving payments?

After ID.me verification, you should receive an email confirmation within 1-2 business days. Then your account status should change from 'pending verification' to 'approved' in the NY unemployment portal. You still need to certify weekly to receive payments - that's the critical part. The maximum payable amount just shows what you're eligible for, but you have to claim each week separately. Check your dashboard to see if there's a 'claim weekly benefits' button active yet.

•Thanks! I did get an email from ID.me saying verification was complete, but nothing from NY unemployment yet. The 'claim weekly benefits' button is still grayed out. Should I call them or just wait longer?

The ID.me is just the identity verification part. After that's complete, NYSDOL has to process your verification on their end, which can take 5-7 business days in 2025 due to their backlog. Once they process it, your dashboard will update and the weekly certification button will become active. Keep checking your email (including spam folder) daily for any additional verification requests, as sometimes they need extra documentation even after ID.me is complete. If it's been more than 7 business days since your ID.me verification and you haven't seen any changes in your account, then you should definitely contact them. The quickest way is to call their claims center at 888-209-8124, but as you probably know, getting through can be extremely difficult.

•It's only been 3 business days so I guess I'll wait a bit longer. Their system is so confusing! Thanks for explaining this.

I had the EXACT same issue last month!!!! It took almost 2 weeks AFTER id.me before anything happened with my claim. Then one day I logged in and everything was suddenly ready. The system is so broken. Just hang tight.

•This happened to me too but it took 3 weeks after ID.me. The system doesn't tell you anything meanwhile your bills pile up and you're just supposed to wait. So frustrating!

If you need to get through to NYSDOL faster, I had luck using Claimyr.com when I was in this exact situation. My account was stuck after ID.me verification for two weeks. I tried calling directly but could never get through. Then I found this service that gets you connected to an unemployment agent without waiting on hold for hours. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE Once I actually spoke to someone, they found an issue with my verification that wasn't showing up in my portal. They fixed it on the spot and my payments started processing the next day. Sometimes you need to actually talk to someone to move things along.

•Thank you - I might try this if nothing changes by next week. I really need this money soon and can't afford to wait much longer.

NOBODY tells you this but there's actually another step sometimes!!! After ID.me, they may also need to verify your EMPLOYMENT history which is separate!!! Check if your account says anything about "waiting for wage verification" or "employment history review" somewhere. I spent 3 weeks thinking it was just slow processing when actually they needed more documents from me but never sent an email about it! Had to call to find this out.

Since you found that employment verification notification, you'll need to upload your wage documents through the portal. Click on the notification or look for the document upload section. They typically need W-2s, paystubs, or 1099 forms from the base period. Upload those right away - that's what's holding up your claim processing, not the ID.me verification.

I went through this in January. After ID.me AND uploading employment docs, it still took about 10 days before payments started. The maximum payable amount just sits there taunting you until they release it lol. Hang in there.
