How long after ID.me verification does NY unemployment actually process your claim?

Completed my identity verification through ID.me for my ny unemployment claim back on November 12, 2023. It's now been over 3 weeks and I haven't heard anything from NYSDOL. The verification process itself was pretty quick - uploaded my docs, did the video call thing, and got the confirmation email same day. But now nothing. My claim still says 'pending' when I log in to check status. I've tried calling their number but can't get through to a human. Is there anything else I should be doing while waiting? How long did it take for others to get their benefits after completing ID.me? I'm starting to get worried because rent is coming up again and I'm running out of savings.

I'm still waiting after 5 weeks! Did the ID.me stuff on October 17 and radio silence since then. Keeps saying pending online. I've called like 35 times and never get past the automated system 😤

Oh wow, 5 weeks?? That's crazy long! Have you tried emailing them or reaching out on social media? I'm getting desperate here.

Tried everything! Emails, Twitter, Facebook. They just give generic responses like "we're experiencing high volume" blah blah. Its like talking to a robot 🤖

After going thru this nightmare myself, I finally found a solution that worked! Used this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) and they got me connected to an actual person at unemployment. Best thing was they called ME when an agent was on the line - no more waiting on hold for hours! Talking to a real agent got my claim unlocked within 48 hours after being stuck for weeks. They have a youtube video explaining how it works: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

yeah right, another 'miracle solution'... what's the catch? 🙄 these things never work

No catch - they just automate the calling and waiting on hold part. When a real person answers, they connect you. Worked for me when nothing else did. My claim was stuck for almost a month after ID.me verification and got fixed right after I talked to someone.

hmm I've been burned by so many of these 'services' before... what makes this different from all those unemployment 'hacks' that never work?

It's not a hack, they literally just call and wait on hold FOR you. Then when a human picks up, your phone rings and you talk directly to the agent. Seriously saved my sanity. I was about to throw my phone after trying to get through for 3 weeks.

I might have to try this. Did you have to wait long for the callback once you signed up?

Took about 3 hours for me but way better than wasting a whole day on hold yourself. When my phone rang and it was actually a real NYSDOL person I almost fell out of my chair lol

For me it took exactly 22 days after ID.me verification before my claim switched from pending to paid. hang in there! the system is just really backed up.

The whole ID.me thing is a disaster. Took me SEVEN weeks to get my benefits after verification. And I only got it after I contacted my state assembly person who reached out to someone at nysdol for me. Try that route maybe?

I didn't even think about contacting my rep! Do you just call their office or is there a specific process?

Just call their office and explain the situation. They have special contacts at unemployment. Had to fill out a form giving them permission to inquire about my case, but after that they got things moving!

This worked for me too! My assemblyman's office was super helpful. But still took like 2 more weeks after they intervened.

I'm an unempliyment counselor (not for NY but another state) and I can tell you the ID.me verification SHOULD only take 48-72 hours to process on the dept side. If your waiting longer than a week, somethings wrong and you need to talk to someone. The problem is getting thru to a human... good luck with that 🙃

THIS!!! This is exactly what I suspected. There's some kind of glitch in their system cause no way should we be waiting weeks/months for them to verify something that ID.me already verified!

Wow thanks for this insight! So basically I DO need to find a way to talk to someone asap. Seems like my verification is stuck in limbo.

OK so here's what actually happens with ID.me verification and NY unemployment. I went through this whole mess last month and spoke with 3 diff agents before finally getting it resolved: After you complete ID.me, your info gets sent back to NYSDOL but it doesn't automatically update your claim. They have to manually review it and match it to your existing claim. This is the part that's taking forever for everyone right now. The people saying 48-72 hours are talking about how it SHOULD work, not how it actually works with their current backlog. What you need to do is: 1) Keep checking your account daily 2) Try calling right when they open at 8am 3) Use Claimyr.com if you can't get through (this is what finally worked for me) 4) Contact your state rep as a last resort When I finally got through using Claimyr, the agent was able to see my ID.me verification was complete but stuck in their review queue. She manually pushed it through and my benefits started 2 days later. Don't just wait passively - you need to be proactive or you could be waiting months in this broken system.

This is incredibly helpful, thank you! I've been checking my account but wasn't sure if I needed to be more proactive. Definitely going to try Claimyr tomorrow morning.

can confirm this is 100% accurate. Same thing happened to me. My ID.me verification was just sitting there completed but NYSDOL never actually looked at it until I got someone on the phone.

sometimes it just randomly starts working for no reason. mine was pending for 4 weeks after id.me and then one day i logged in and boom! all my back payments were there. the system is so weird.

Y'all better check ur email spam folders too!! I missed the notification that they needed additional info cause it went to spam. Sat there for 3 weeks wondering why nothing was happening 🤦‍♀️

OMG just checked my spam and there WAS an email from them from last week asking for additional employment info! Thank you!!!

anybody else notice how the wait times keep getting longer and longer? when I did ID.me last year it only took like 10 days for everything to process. now people are waiting weeks or months? the system is falling apart 😡

fr fr the entire system is a joke. they need to hire way more people or fix their tech

I heard they actually laid off a bunch of workers after the pandemic claims surge died down. So now they're understaffed again.

tried logging into id.me today and my account was showing as "verified" but ny unemployment still says pending?? makes no sense

-

Ruby Blake

that's exactly what I was saying! they're two separate systems. id.me can show verified but unemployment still has to process it on their end

Dont waste ur time waiting. Srsly. I waited 6 weeks thinking it would just magically start working. Finally used claimyr.com to get an agent on the phone and they fixed it in 5 minutes. Turns out my ID verification was done but stuck in some queue on their end. Talking to an agent got my $ unlocked so fast, wish I'd done it weeks earlier.

wait what is claimyr? never heard of it

It's a service that calls unemployment for you and waits on hold. Then when they get a human, they call your phone so you can talk to the agent. Beats calling 50 times a day and getting nowhere.

Just tried this after seeing multiple people mention it. Got connected to an agent after about 2.5 hours! They confirmed my ID verification was completed but not processed yet. They're expediting it now.
