Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Used this service a couple times now. Before I'd call 200 times in less than a weak frustrated as can be. But using claimyr with a couple hours of waiting i was on the line with an representative or on hold. Unpopular opinion maybe but all these tax breaks and special rules during covid just made everything more confusing. Now nobody knows what rules apply anymore.

FYI - there is a seperate recertification phone number that sometimes works better than the main line: 1-888-209-8124. Follow the prompts for weekly certification issues specifically. It bypasses some of the regular call queues.
Tried that number and it still tells me I need to speak to a rep 😫 Then transfers me to the same endless hold loop
ugh im sorry! such a broken system. might be time to try one of those services that calls for you then. i heard claimyr.com works well.

Just be warned - even after you report the fraud, your account might still show the false claim for months. It takes their system forever to update and remove fraudulent claims. Don't panic if you still see it online.
THIS IS AN EPIDEMIC!!! My entire apartment building got hit with this (6 different people). We think our mail was stolen and they used that to get enough info to file claims. Check your credit reports NOW.

Nope, just regular boxes in the lobby. We all got locking mailboxes after this happened. Too late tho 😑

the nysdol website has a FAQ about this exact situation. from what i remember reading, yes you'll get the $300 for any eligible weeks as long as the system shows you were entitled to regular benefits for those weeks. also make sure they properly coded your hospital stay so you don't get penalized for not doing the work search requirements!

Bad news: your tax preparer was wrong. That unemployment tax exclusion was only for 2020 unemployment benefits, not 2021. The American Rescue Plan that Biden signed in March 2021 only applied to the prior year's unemployment. All unemployment from 2021 is fully taxable. Your tax person should have known this!
