Anyone know how to fix missing weeks of ny unemployment payments in the middle of my claim?

So I finally received my unemployment backpay yesterday after waiting since October! But there's a weird issue - I'm missing 4 weeks of payments from late November through mid-December. All the weeks before and after those missing weeks got paid just fine. I've checked my payment history multiple times and those 4 weeks just aren't there at all. It's like they were completely skipped over in the system. I've tried calling the unemployment office every day this week, but I've been stuck on hold for hours and never get through to anyone. The website isn't helping either - when I try to check the status of those weeks, it doesn't even show them as existing. Anyone else deal with something similar or know what I should do? I'm missing about $1,800 and really need that money.

I had this EXACT same problem but with 3 weeks in February. turns out I accidentally didn't certify for those weeks. Double check ur certification history to make sure u actually certified for those missing weeks. If u did, then it's probably a technical error on their end that only a rep can fix.

I checked my certification history and I definitely certified for all those weeks 😞 I have screenshots and everything because I was paranoid about missing a week. That's why I'm so confused!

then yea u need to get someone on the phone... which is basically impossible these days. I spent like 50+ hours on hold last month trying to fix my issue 🤡

this happened to my cousin and it turned out there was a flag on his account for an employment verification that they never told him about. you NEED to talk to someone.

After weeks of trying to reach someone at NY unemployment with no luck, I found this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me connected with an actual human agent in like 20 minutes. Talking to a real person was what finally got my missing payments released. Seriously was the best investment I've made during this whole unemployment mess. They have a YouTube video explaining how it works too: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

Yeah right, another 'miracle solution'... what's the catch? 🙄 These things never work

Zara Ahmed

No catch - it just connects you with a real agent instead of you sitting on hold for hours. I was skeptical too but was desperate after trying for 2 weeks to get through. They just call and wait on hold for you, then call your phone when an agent picks up.

wait does this actually work? I've been trying to get through for WEEKS and I'm about to lose my damn mind

It worked for me! Fixed my issue in one call after the agent went through my account. My missing weeks were apparently flagged for some random verification but no one had bothered to tell me 🤦‍♂️

not falling for another unemployment 'hack'... these never work. the system is designed to be impossible

I get being skeptical, I was too. But it's not a hack - it's literally just a service that waits on hold so you don't have to. The agent I spoke to was a regular unemployment agent who actually fixed my issue.

Same thing happened 2 me! had missing weeks from January to Feb. You need to call and specifically ask for a "DOCREPAY" - its their code for fixing missing weeks. Took me 6 tries to get someone who knew what they were doing but they fixed it in like 5 min once I got the right person.

This could be a bunch of different issues: 1) Did you report any income during those weeks? Sometimes that can cause a review 2) Was there a holiday during those weeks? The system sometimes messes up around holidays 3) Check if your address or banking info changed around that time 4) Sometimes they randomly select claims for additional verification Unfortunately you HAVE to speak to a human. The ny unemployment system is designed to be impossible to navigate without talking to someone. Keep calling as soon as they open (7:30am) - that's when I finally got through after weeks of trying.

I didn't report any income, and my banking info has been the same the whole time. But there was Thanksgiving in there - maybe that's part of it? I'll try calling right when they open tomorrow. Thanks!

Yep holiday weeks are notorious for glitches. And if one week gets flagged sometimes it creates a cascade effect. Good luck!

i had this issue and spent 4 MONTHS trying to fix it myself. ended up having to contact my state senator's office. they have special liasons to the unemployment office who can escalate your case. took about 2 weeks after i did that but they fixed everything and got my missing $.

-

Diego Ramirez

I didn't even think about contacting a state senator! That's a good backup plan if I can't get through on the phone. Did you just call their office directly?

yea just google your district's state senator and look for a "constituent services" section on their website. most have specific forms for unemployment help these days since so many people need it

This is actually a known issue right now with NY unemployment. The system is randomly skipping weeks for some people. I work in HR and we've had several employees with this exact problem. The only solution is getting through to a Tier 2 specialist (not just any agent). When you call, immediately ask to be transferred to a Tier 2 specialist who handles missing payments.

Is this a new glitch? I had a perfect claim until last month then suddenly 2 weeks vanished from my payment history. So frustrating!

Yes, it started happening more frequently after their system "upgrade" in September. Classic government IT project - fix one thing, break three others 🙄

THE LITERAL BEST WAY to get help with NY unemployment issues: 1. First, document everything. Screenshot your payment history, certification confirmations, etc. 2. Try the regular phone number a few times, but don't waste more than a day on this approach. 3. Instead of burning hours on hold, use claimyr.com - they'll wait on hold and connect you with an agent. This saved me HOURS of frustration. 4. When you get an agent, be super specific about the missing weeks (exact dates). Ask them to check for "pending determinations" or "holds" on those weeks. 5. If they say they can't help, politely ask to speak with a supervisor or specialist. 6. If all else fails, contact your state assembly member or senator. They have direct lines to unemployment office higher-ups. I had 7 weeks of missing payments that I eventually got paid using this approach. The system is designed to be frustrating - don't give up!

This is incredibly helpful, thank you! I'm going to try Claimyr tomorrow since I've already wasted so much time on hold. Did they fix your issue in one call?

Yep, one call did it! The key was getting to the right type of agent. Some agents have more authority/knowledge than others. Make sure you ask right away if they can help with missing weeks specifically.

I second this approach. The regular phone line is basically useless at this point - spent 16+ hours on hold last month with nothing to show for it. claimyr.com was a game changer.

ok but WHY does this keep happening to everyone??? Like this is the 5th post I've seen this month about missing weeks. The ny unemployment system is such a joke fr 🤡

0 coins

-

Yuki Tanaka

because the system was built in the 1980s using COBOL programming language and they just keep duct-taping new features onto it instead of rebuilding it properly 😂

for real tho?? That's insane lmaooo no wonder everything breaks all the time!

100% true. Most state unemployment systems run on ancient technology. NY's system is actually one of the "better" ones believe it or not 💀

i bet ur missing weeks were during that system maintenance they did in Dec. A lot of certifications got lost during that time. you might need to re-certify for those weeks but ONLY an agent can allow that. ive been in the same boat, its super frustrating

Did you check your spam/junk email? Sometimes they send notices asking for additional info for specific weeks, and if you don't respond they just skip those weeks. happened to me and the email went straight to spam 🤦‍♀️

Diego Ramirez

Just checked my spam folder and nothing there 😔 but that's a good thought, I'll keep checking it regularly now

unpopular opinion: if you still can't get through on the phones after multiple attempts, just file a new claim. sometimes that forces them to review your whole case. worked for me when i had a similar issue.

0 coins

-

Sean O'Connor

NO NO NO DO NOT DO THIS!!! Filing a new claim can mess up your entire benefit year and create duplicate claims which takes MONTHS to untangle. Horrible advice.

jeez just sharing what worked for me, chill. maybe they fixed that issue now idk

Sorry for the caps but I've seen ppl completely lose benefits doing this. It's one of those things that sometimes works but when it goes wrong it goes REALLY wrong.

Are the missing weeks right after you reported some income? That happened to me and it turned out I filled the form out wrong - when you report even a tiny bit of income they sometimes put your whole claim on hold until a human reviews it. Try claimyr.com to reach someone, only thing that worked for me after weeks of calling.

anyone else feel like the unemployment system is DESIGNED to be this confusing so people just give up trying to get their money? 🤔

0 coins

-

Aisha Abdullah

100% it is. they know a certain percentage of people will just give up.

0 coins

It's called administrative burden and it's a real thing. There are academic papers about how government programs are intentionally made difficult to reduce payouts.

that's so messed up. like we literally paid into this system with our taxes 😤

check ur work search records for those weeks. if u didn't log enough job search activities for any of those weeks, they can hold or deny payment. u need at least 3 job search activities per week.

0 coins

-

Diego Ramirez

I definitely did my work search activities - that's the first thing I checked. I keep a really detailed spreadsheet of all my applications and contacts.

smart! keep that spreadsheet safe in case they audit you later. happened to someone i know and they had to provide proof from 6 months earlier!

Try the alternate phone number: [redacted]. It's the same department but different queue. I got through in 25 minutes last Thursday around 2pm. Ask for a payment trace on those specific weeks.

Update on my earlier comment: when I used claimyr.com to finally talk to an agent, they told me those missing weeks were stuck in something called "adjudication" and there was no notification sent to tell me about it. The agent was able to release all the payments while I was on the phone with them. Seriously consider trying that service if you're stuck.

If ur missing weeks happen to be from weeks where you worked part time, make sure you didn't accidentally report your GROSS instead of NET income. I did that and it triggered some kind of review that held up my payments for those weeks.

u in NYC? go IN PERSON to 375 Hudson Street. they have walk-in help and the wait is usually under 2 hours. way better than phone. bring all ur docs and they can usually fix payment issues on the spot.

Have you tried messaging them on Twitter? Sounds weird but I DMed @NYSLabor with my issue and they actually responded and helped fix my claim. Worth a shot if you're desperate.
