NY unemployment not showing claims after ID.me verification - only first week visible

I quit a job where they were cutting my hours (I only worked 4 hours my last week in April). When I submitted my 2 weeks notice, they immediately said they didn't need me to work it out, so I suddenly had no income. I started filing for unemployment in May and answered no to the question about returning to that workplace (it was super toxic). After filing my first couple of claims, they required me to complete ID.me verification. I finished that process about 3 weeks ago, but nothing has happened since. When I check my payment history, I can only see that first week where I worked 4 hours - none of my full unemployment claims are showing up at all. I called NY unemployment yesterday and the person just said they can see my claims in their system and told me to "keep claiming weekly benefits" but wouldn't explain why nothing is showing up in my account. Has anyone else dealt with this? How long after ID.me verification did your payments start showing up?

Same exact issue! I left my job after they cut me to 12 hours a week (wasn't sustainable). I did the ID.me thing about a month ago and my account only shows the partial week I worked before filing. Called twice and both agents just said "keep filing, we can see your claims" but won't tell me why there's nothing in my payment history or when I'll get paid. Super frustrating! 😑

Have you been able to get anything to show up yet? It's been almost a month for me and still nothing

0 coins

Nope, still waiting. Going on 5 weeks since verification and literally nothing has changed. NY unemployment is so broken smh

Ugh I feel for ya'll. The system is soooo behind since covid. My cousin was in the same boat and didn't see payments for 2 months after verification.

I finally got through this process! After my ID.me verification it took exactly 4 weeks before my payments started showing up. The trick was using this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) to actually get someone on the phone who could help. Talking to a real agent got my benefits unlocked so fast! They actually scheduled a callback straight to my phone. Here's a video explaining how it works: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

β€’

does that actually work? I've been trying to call for like 2 weeks and can't get through at all

β€’

it totally works! i was skeptical too but they got me a callback from an actual DOL agent in about 3 hours. the agent fixed my issue in minutes - all my missing weeks suddenly appeared the next day

sounds like one of those ads that pops up everywhere. anyone ACTUALLY try this besides this random account? πŸ€”

I get the skepticism honestly. I was desperate after weeks of nothing. The callback actually came through and the agent could see all my claims and fixed the verification hold. Money hit my account 2 days later.

i tried it last week. it's the best money i ever spent to finally get my benefits processed. was on the verge of eviction before getting my backpay.

This is like the number ONE problem with NY unemployment right now. After ID.me they have another internal review process nobody talks about. I waited 7 weeks after verifying before mine started showing. Keep claiming every week, you'll get all the back pay at once when they finally approve you.

The ID.me thing is such a mess. I had the EXACT same issue - quit after hours reduction, did the ID.me, and then claims disappeared into the void. For me it eventually resolved after I reached a tier 2 agent (the regular agents are useless). The trick is you have to specifically ask for a tier 2 or supervisor when you call. It's annoying but worked for me.

β€’

Thanks for the tip! How long did you have to wait to talk to a tier 2 agent? The last person I talked to wouldn't transfer me.

β€’

So the first 2 times they refused. The 3rd time I called I literally said "I need to speak to a tier 2 agent about my ID.me verification issue" right when they answered and they transferred me. Took about 30 minutes on hold but so worth it!

That's my strategy too! Never take no for an answer with these ppl. Ask for supervisor right away.

Ok so listen up. After ID.me verification there's a SECURITY HOLD that gets put on your account. The regular phone agents can't/won't tell you this for some reason. You need to talk to someone in the fraud department to remove it. When I finally reached someone there, they took the hold off and 2 days later ALL my back payments showed up at once. Don't just "keep claiming" without resolving this!!

β€’

Thank you! How did you get to the fraud department? Did you have to ask for them specifically?

β€’

You have to call the main number and then specifically say "I need to speak to someone about removing a security hold after ID.me verification." If they try to brush you off, be polite but INSIST that regular agents can't help with this specific issue.

This SAME thing is happening to my roommate. He's been waiting 2 months now after ID.me. The only thing that changed is now when he logs in there's a message saying "we are reviewing your claim" but still no payment history. NY unemployment is such a joke 🀑

You need to email your state representative!!!! This worked for me after 5 weeks of the same ID.me nightmare. Find your NY state assembly person and senator, email both their offices with your claim info and situation. My assemblyman's office called me back the next day and had a contact at DOL. My payments started 3 days later. DO THIS!

β€’

I'll try this! Did you just use the contact form on their website?

Zainab Ibrahim

β€’

yep! just google "who is my NY state assembly person" put in your address and email both your assembly rep and state senator. Their staff deals with unemployment issues all the time and they have direct contacts at DOL that can actually fix things.

Look i've been working in HR for 12 years and here's the ACTUAL issue: when you quit and select "no" for returning to work, the system automatically flags your account for review to determine if you quit for "good cause." The ID.me verification is just one part. After that, they're reviewing if your reason for quitting (reduced hours) qualifies you for benefits. That's why the first partial week shows but nothing after - they need to make a determination on eligibility. You need to talk to a DETERMINATIONS specialist, not just any random agent.

Giovanni Rossi

β€’

That makes so much sense! Thank you for explaining. So should I call and ask specifically for a determinations specialist?

0 coins

Ava Williams

β€’

Yes! Call and say you need to speak with someone about an "eligibility determination" for a quit with reduced hours. Be prepared to explain exactly how your hours were reduced (they usually need to see at least a 25% reduction). Having your past pay stubs ready helps.

IMPORTANT: The NY unemployment system is SEVERELY backlooged with ID.me verifications right now. I work adjacent to the system (can't say more) and I can tell you there's an estimated 4-6 week wait AFTER verification before your claim gets fully processed. The first week shows because it was before verification, everything after is in the queue. And YES, you should keep claiming every week despite nothing showing up.

I literally just had this fixed yesterday after dealing with it for 2 months. Here's what worked: I used claimyr.com to get an agent on the phone (worth every penny after wasting days trying to call myself). When I got through, I specifically asked about "release of benefits after ID verification" and mentioned I could see they were showing as "processed-pending payment" on their end. The agent transferred me to someone who fixed it immediately. All my back weeks hit my account THIS MORNING! πŸ’ΈπŸ’ΈπŸ’Έ

Giovanni Rossi

β€’

OMG congrats! That's encouraging to hear. Did you ask for a specific department?

0 coins

Yara Khalil

β€’

Thx! I asked to speak to the "payment release department" (not sure if that's the real name but that's what I said). What was key was mentioning the "processed-pending payment" status - seemed like that was the magic phrase that got them to transfer me to someone who could actually help.

This is literally a known glitch in the system. IT WILL NOT RESOLVE BY ITSELF no matter what the phone agents tell you. After ID.me there's a second verification step that has to be manually cleared by an agent. The regular phone people either don't know this or are trained to just tell people to keep waiting.

The whole system is designed to make people give up. I had to call 43 TIMES before getting someone who knew what they were doing.

^^^ THIS!! They literally count on people getting frustrated and giving up. Don't let them win!

Here's my comprehensive guide to solving this exact problem (I'm a former unemployment counselor): 1) First, continue certifying weekly even though nothing shows up 2) You need to specifically reach a Tier 2 Claims Examiner - regular agents cannot help with ID.me verification issues 3) When calling, use specific terminology: "I need help resolving a pending identity verification hold that's preventing my payments from processing" 4) If you can't get through on the phone, try using claimyr.com - it's a service that will wait on hold and get you a callback when an agent is available 5) As a last resort, contact your state representative's office - they have special contacts at DOL 6) Once resolved, you'll typically receive all back payments within 2-3 business days The key thing to understand is that after ID.me verification, there's an internal DOL verification that must be manually cleared. This is especially true for claims that involve quitting due to reduced hours, as they require additional review. Hope this helps!

Just wanted to update that I was having this same issue and I finally got it resolved today. What worked was using claimyr.com to get through to a rep (seriously tried calling myself for WEEKS with no luck). The agent confirmed there was a hold after ID.me that needed manual clearance. They fixed it while I was on the phone and I could immediately see all my weeks pending in my account! If you're stuck in this situation definitely check out claimyr - talking to an agent got my $ unlocked so fast.
