Contacted my state senator's office about this last week. Their constituent services person said they're getting FLOODED with these exact complaints. Apparently there's some kind of system-wide issue with the tax refund processing software. They took my info and said they'd escalate it, but warned me there are thousands of people in the same situation. Not very encouraging but at least confirms it's a known issue.
I see ppl talking about those claimyr people. I was skeptical but I used them last week and they actually got me through to unemployment after I tried for DAYS on my own. The hold music was giving me nightmares 🤣 Just sharing cuz I was in your shoes not long ago.
look at the dates carefully. you got a refund in february of $7,458. that's probably your regular tax refund. the july entry means they're still processing your unemployment tax adjustment. two different things.
DOCUMENT EVERYTHING!!! Screenshots of your weekly certifications, confirmation numbers, emails - everything! Had to fight for 2 months to get my payments and the only reason I won was because I had proof I'd been certifying all along when they claimed I hadn't.
I'm laughing at all you people saying "just call them" like that's so easy 🤣 I called 87 TIMES last Thursday and never got through. The system is broken beyond belief.
i got my unemployment tax refund direct deposited on August 18. Was about $1,200. Never got any notice, it just appeared in my bank account with a weird description from the IRS. So keep an eye on your account!
dont even get me started on the ny unemployment website. trying to find ANY useful info there is like trying to find a needle in a haystack while blindfolded 🙄

Check if your mail is being forwarded or held. I had this exact problem because I had recently moved and my mail forwarding request with USPS expired right when my card was supposed to arrive. Had to call KeyBank to request a new card to my current address.

Question - after you got approved did you get an email about setting up payment preferences? I got that email and was able to choose direct deposit before any payments went out. Maybe check your spam folder?
