NY unemployment check mailed out 2 weeks ago still hasn't arrived - anyone else?

The mail is super slow right now. I got my check 18 days after it was mailed. Just hang in there but maybe call unemployment to make sure it was actually sent out.

Same here. My check was supposedly mailed July 27th and still nothing. Called NYSDOL three times and got three different answers about what's happening. One rep said to wait 14 business days, another said there's a mail backlog, and the third one had no clue and told me to call the post office 🤡

USPS is a disaster lately. My unemployment letter took 23 days to arrive and by then I'd already missed my hearing date 😭

FYI there's a bunch of mail fraud happening rn. People stealing checks from mailboxes. If you live in an apartment building with shared mail area, be extra vigilant.

have you tried going online to see if there's tracking info available? sometimes the system updates before anything arrives

Direct deposit is the ONLY way to go. I was getting paper checks for the first 3 months and had nothing but problems. Switched to DD and now I get paid like clockwork every week. Worth the hassle of setting it up.

if its been more than 3 weeks, you can report it as lost and request a replacement. just be warned that process takes another 10-15 days 🙃

This happened to me last month too. Called for 5 days straight and couldn't get through to anyone. Then I found claimyr.com which got me connected to an agent who told me my check was returned to them because my apartment number was missing. They fixed it and reissued that day.

check your bank account anyway. sometimes they switch to direct deposit without telling you. happened to me and i was watching the mail like a hawk for nothing lol

the new york unemployment system is running on computers from 1987 I swear. nothing works right. took me THREE MONTHS to get my backpay and then they sent it as a paper check even tho i had direct deposit set up 🤦‍♂️

New York DOL is literally the worst government agency I've ever dealt with. And that's saying something.

my check was lost in the mail too. turned out my neighbor mistakenly got it and didn't return it for 2 weeks. maybe ask around your building?

i don't mean to be that person but... i've never once had a problem with direct deposit. every tuesday like clockwork. set it up IMMEDIATELY when you get through to a rep.

OP have you tried going physically to a NYS career center? sometimes they can help you with unemployment issues too and at least you're dealing with a real person
