How long for PA UC checks to arrive in mail? Mine's been delayed 3 weeks!

Has anyone else had issues with PA unemployment checks taking forever to arrive? I switched from direct deposit to paper checks last month (my bank account got compromised) and I'm still waiting on my first check. It's been 3 weeks since my claim was approved and payment status shows 'issued' but nothing in my mailbox! The online portal says it was mailed 15 days ago. I've tried calling but just get busy signals. My rent is due next week and I'm starting to panic. Is this normal wait time for mailed checks? Do I need to report it missing or just keep waiting?

Paper checks usually take 5-7 business days after they show 'issued' in the system. If it's been 15 days, something's definitely wrong. You should report it as missing. My neighbor had this happen and it turned out his check was delivered to the wrong address in our building.

Thanks for the info. Do you know how I can report it missing? Is there a specific form on the portal or do I need to call?

That's somewhat reassuring. Did you end up having to report it or did it just randomly show up?

You NEED to report it ASAP!!! I waited 4 weeks for mine and when I finally got through to someone they told me it was RETURNED to them because of a 'delivery issue' but nobody bothered to tell me!!! Then had to wait ANOTHER 2 weeks for them to reissue it! The system is COMPLETELY BROKEN!!

This happened to me too! And they didn't update the system to show it was returned. So frustrating.

To report a missing check, you need to wait until 15 business days (not calendar days) have passed since the issue date. Then call the UC service center at 1-888-313-7284. Be prepared for a long wait time, though. When you get through, request a tracer to be put on the check. They'll investigate, and if needed, stop payment on the original check and issue a new one. Make sure your address is correct in the system too. If you can't get through on the phone, use Claimyr (claimyr.com) - they can connect you to a UC agent usually within an hour. Saved me so much time when I had a similar issue. Check out their demo video: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2

Thank you for the detailed information! I'll try calling tomorrow morning. My address is definitely correct in the system - I double checked it when I switched to paper checks. Has anyone used this Claimyr service before? Is it legit?

I used Claimyr last month when I couldn't get through about my open issue. It worked but just be aware you still have to wait on hold after they connect you - just not as long. Got through in about 45 mins vs days of trying on my own.

hey just wondering - did u update ur address when u switched to paper checks? sometimes the system keeps the old address even when u update it. happened to my cousin, checks went to his old apartment for 2 months b4 he figured it out.

I haven't moved, so the address should be the same as when I initially filed my claim. But I'll double check that part of my profile just to be sure. Thanks for the tip!

One time my check said issued but it took 22 days to arrive. I was about to report it missing when it finally showed up. The postal service in my area is terrible though.

Since it's been more than 15 business days, you should definitely request a tracer on the check. When you talk to a representative, make sure to ask them to verify the address they sent it to as well. They can see the full address in their system, which sometimes shows more details than what we can see in the portal.

I finally got through to someone at UC this morning! Turns out my check was returned because my apartment number was missing on the address. They're reissuing it but said it will take another 7-10 days to arrive. At least I know what happened now. Thanks everyone for your help!

Great advice! I just logged in and updated my address to include my apartment number. Hopefully this prevents the same issue with future checks. It's crazy how one missing detail can cause such a headache!
