Filed with TaxAct, bank is Chase, DDD 3-12-25 but SBTPG says sent to bank today (3-12) and nothing in account yet

I filed my taxes using TaxAct and I'm banking with Chase. My deposit date (DDD) is 3-12-25 and the SBTPG portal says it was sent to my bank today 3-12-25. It's almost 8pm and still nothing in my account. I've never had to wait this long before when the money was supposedly sent. Anyone know if I'll still get it today or what's going on? Starting to get worried.

Elin Robinson

This is pretty normal. SBTPG (Santa Barbara Tax Products Group) is the bank that processes refunds for many tax prep companies. When they say they sent it, that usually means they've initiated the transfer, but it can take 1-3 business days to actually show up in your account depending on your bank. Chase sometimes holds deposits until the next business day, especially if it was sent later in the day. I'd give it until tomorrow afternoon before worrying. If it doesn't show up by Friday, then you might want to contact Chase and/or SBTPG to see what's happening.

Thanks for the info. I'm just anxious because last year it was in my account the same day SBTPG sent it. Fingers crossed for tomorrow I guess.

Same thing happened to me last month. SBTPG said sent on Tuesday, didnt hit my bank until Thursday morning. Banking systems are wierd like that sometimes.

It also depends on what time they actually sent it. ACH transfers have cutoff times. If it was sent after the cutoff, it won't process until the next business day.

I had the exact same issue last month and was freaking out. I couldn't understand all the different dates and statuses. After wasting hours trying to piece together what was happening, I found this tool called taxr.ai that explained everything. It read my transcript for me and showed exactly where my money was and when it would arrive - turns out there was just a processing delay at my bank. Seriously saved me from a panic attack! https://taxr.ai

Sounds interesting. How exactly does it work? Does it just read your transcript or does it do more?

It's amazing honestly! You upload your transcript and it breaks down all those confusing codes and tells you in plain english what's happening with your refund. It even predicts when you'll get paid based on your specific situation. Saved me hours of googling and stressing. Best tool I found all tax season!

I was skeptical too but it's not like that at all! It just helps decode all the transcript gobbledygook the IRS uses. I was literally about to call the IRS for the 10th time before I found this. Changed my whole tax return experience.

After dealing with this exact problem and getting absolutely nowhere with the SBTPG customer service, I used Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to an actual IRS person. Turns out there was a flag on my account that was holding things up, and the agent was able to remove it right away. My deposit showed up 24 hours later. Talking to a real human at the IRS was what finally broke the logjam - totally worth it to not spend 6 hours on hold.

Wait how does that even work? I've been trying to reach someone at the IRS for weeks

It's this service that basically waits on hold for you and then calls you when they get an agent on the line. I was super dubious but it actually worked! Got a call back with an agent in about 45 minutes when I'd been failing to get through for days. The IRS lady I talked to was actually super helpful once I finally got through.

Dude I get the skepticism, I felt the same way. But when you've been try to reach the IRS for weeks and getting nowhere, you get desperate. It literally saved me from taking a day off work just to sit on hold. The agent cleared up my issue in like 10 minutes once I got through.

If SBTPG says they sent it today, you should definitely see it tomorrow. They're not actually sending your money directly - they're sending the instructions to transfer the money through the banking system. The ACH network is basically a big batch process that runs overnight. Just hang tight!

I'm in the exact same boat right now! SBTPG showing sent but nothing in my Wells Fargo yet. The wait is driving me crazy. Let us know when yours hits and I'll do the same. This waiting game sucks.

Will do! Glad I'm not the only one. This is making me want to just get my refund directly next year instead of going through these third parties.

The IRS and these banks play with our money while we stress about paying bills. Its a joke. Last year they held my refund for 6 MONTHS with zero explanation.then suddenly one day it just showed up in my account. The whole system is broken.

Preach šŸ™Œ I had to call 27 times before I got through to someone last year. 27 TIMES.

this is why i always claim 0 withholding and pay at the end of the year. refunds are just giving the government an interest-free loan.

Chase customer here - they typically post deposits between 3-6am. Ive never seen them post a deposit late in the day. If SBTPG sent it today, you'll probably see it in your account first thing tomorrow morning.

Pro tip for next year: don't have your refund go through the tax prep company. There's an option to have the IRS deposit directly to your bank account instead of routing through SBTPG. Just select that you want to pay filing fees out of pocket (use a credit card) rather than out of your refund. Skips this whole waiting game and you get your money faster.

100% this. I learned this the hard way too. Tax prep companies are basically charging you to slow down your refund šŸ˜‚

Checked my account this morning and my refund was in there. Had the exact same thing happen with SBTPG. Just give it overnight. The system always says it was sent before it actually shows in your account cuz banks gotta do their thing.

Y'all should try getting an advance instead of waiting. Most tax places will give you your refund on the spot for a small fee. Worth it to not deal with this mess every year imo

Those fees are outrageous tho. They wanted to charge me $150 to get my money 2 weeks early.

depends where you go, some places charge like $25-50 which is worth it to me to have my money right away

I had soooo many problems with my refund this year because of a mistake on my W2. I couldn't understand what was happening from my transcript - it was all these weird codes and dates that made no sense. I spent hours Googling them. Someone recommended taxr.ai and it was legit a lifesaver. It explained everything in plain English and even showed me what to do to fix the issue. Might help if you're having any weird delays with your refund. https://taxr.ai

I literally sat on hold with the IRS for 3 hours yesterday only to get disconnected. Its criminal how they treat us. Trying to find out about my amended return from LAST YEAR that still isnt processed. Anyone know how to actually reach a human?

I used claimyr.com after seeing it recommended here. Got through to an agent in about an hour without having to sit by my phone. They actually solved my issue with my amended return from 2022 that had been sitting for months.

Yeah it works. They call and wait on hold, then call you when they get someone. The IRS agent I got was actually super helpful and found my amended return was missing a form. Got it sorted out and my check arrived 3 weeks later.

I work at a bank (not Chase). Here's what's happening: SBTPG initiated the ACH transfer today, but most ACH transfers don't settle same-day unless they're specifically marked as same-day ACH (which costs more). Regular ACH transfers typically take 1-2 business days to complete. So if they initiated it today, it'll probably hit your account tomorrow morning when your bank processes their overnight batch.

0 coins

-

Marilyn Dixon

THIS should be the top answer. This is exactly what's happening. The tax prep places use regular ACH to save money.
