Chase Bank DDD 2/25 - Refund Not Deposited Despite SBTPG Release?
Has anyone with a Chase account and a Direct Deposit Date of 2/25 received their refund yet? I'm still waiting for the deposit to appear in my account. I've already contacted Chase customer service representatives who confirm they have no pending transactions in their system. However, SBTPG (Santa Barbara Tax Products Group) shows they've already released the funds. This discrepancy is concerning and I'd like to identify where the breakdown in processing is occurring. I've documented all communication with both parties for reference if escalation becomes necessary.

SBTPG and bank processing can be frustrating af. Chase typically posts deposits same-day once they actually receive them, but there's often a delay between when SBTPG *says* they sent it vs when they *actually* sent it. Prob looking at 24-48 hrs from when SBTPG marked it released. Some ppl got theirs this AM, others still waiting. If nothing by EOD tmrw, def call SBTPG again and ask for confirmation # of the ACH transfer.

Omg thank you for explaining this! I've been checking my Chase account literally every hour and getting more anxious each time. Really hoping it shows up tomorrow morning! š

The ACH transfer protocol between SBTPG and receiving financial institutions typically requires a minimum of 24 hours for processing. In my experience with Chase last tax season, there was a 36-hour gap between SBTPG's release notification and the actual deposit appearing in my account. The Treasury Management department at Chase confirmed this is standard procedure for third-party tax refund processors.

I want to add some clarity to this situation. First, check your SBTPG account status. Second, verify the last four digits of the account number shown. Third, confirm if there were any fees deducted that might have changed the expected amount. Fourth, understand that even though SBTPG marks it as sent, it's still subject to the ACH processing window. I've seen many cases where this exact scenario resolves itself within 48 hours.

Mine was marked as released by SBTPG on February 23rd but didn't hit my Chase account until February 25th at 3:17am exactly. Last year it was almost identical - released on April 18th and deposited April 20th at 2:43am. Chase seems to process these overnight batches consistently.

Have you considered that this might be related to the new verification procedures implemented this tax season? What about checking if your refund was subject to the additional fraud screening that Chase implemented in January? Many financial institutions have tightened their ACH processing for tax refunds - could this be why your deposit is experiencing delays despite SBTPG showing it as released?

I would suggest checking your IRS transcript to verify the actual DDD issued by the IRS. Sometimes there's a discrepancy between what preparers tell you and what the IRS actually scheduled. I typically recommend https://taxr.ai for analyzing transcripts - it can help identify if there are any codes that might explain delays or if everything looks normal on the IRS side. It might show whether this is a banking issue or if there was perhaps a last-minute hold placed by the IRS that SBTPG isn't aware of.

Does that taxr.ai thing actually work? I'm worried about putting my transcript info into some random website when I'm already dealing with this mess. Has anyone else used it? I just need my money to pay bills and can't afford more complications.

I had this exact situation last week. SBTPG showed released on Tuesday, but Chase didn't post until Thursday morning. Called Chase twice and they kept saying nothing was pending. Then it suddenly appeared in my account at 2am. The disconnect between SBTPG's system and Chase's visibility into pending ACH transfers is a known issue this tax season. The funds are likely in transit but not yet visible to Chase's customer service reps.

Last year when I had a similar situation, I spent hours trying to reach the IRS directly. This year I used Claimyr (https://claimyr.com) to get through to an IRS agent in about 15 minutes. They confirmed that my refund had been sent to SBTPG and there were no issues on their end. I was surprised at how complicated the handoff between IRS ā SBTPG ā Chase actually is. The IRS agent explained that once they show it as sent, they can't track it further, but at least I knew where to focus my follow-up calls.

Have you tried checking your refund status using the IRS2Go app instead of relying on SBTPG's portal? Sometimes the official IRS tools provide more accurate information compared to the third-party processors. Would it also be worth checking if your refund might have been split across multiple deposits if you paid for tax preparation fees from your refund? That situation sometimes creates confusion when tracking deposits.

This is a very helpful suggestion. Under IRC Ā§6402(f), taxpayers have the right to receive detailed information about their refund disbursement. If using the IRS2Go app shows different information than what SBTPG is reporting, I would recommend documenting both discrepancies carefully before proceeding with further inquiries to either party.
