Money Network app won't let me transfer funds to my bank after EDD payment posted
Seriously about to lose my mind with this garbage Money Network app! Got my unemployment payment deposited yesterday (thank god after 6 weeks of waiting) but now I can't even transfer it to my actual bank account. The app keeps saying 'authentication error' even though I KNOW my password is right. I've reset it twice already. Anyone else having this issue right now? I've got rent due in 3 days and my landlord doesn't accept 'sorry, EDD's payment system is broken' as an excuse. How is this acceptable in 2025?!

I had this exact problem last month! For some reason, the Money Network app has been super glitchy since their recent update. Try these steps that worked for me: 1. Delete the app completely 2. Restart your phone 3. Download the app again 4. When logging in, use your email instead of username if possible 5. Make sure your phone's date/time settings are on automatic Something about the cache or how the app stores login info gets corrupted. The delete/reinstall fixed it for me and I could transfer my funds. Let me know if it works!

•Going to try this RIGHT NOW. I swear this is the most stressful part of unemployment - not even the actual joblessness, just dealing with these broken systems! Will update after I try it.

This is why I immediately set up direct deposit to my bank account when I first applied for UI. Their Money Network system is absolutely terrible. When you eventually get back in, go to your EDD account settings and switch to direct deposit. It takes about 7-10 days to process the change, but it's SO worth it not having to deal with that awful app anymore.

•I tried setting up direct deposit initially but there was some verification issue with my bank account. I'll definitely try again if I ever get this current payment transferred. Lesson learned!

THE WHOLE SYSTEM IS DESIGNED TO BE DIFFICULT ON PURPOSE!! They make it hard to get your own money hoping you'll give up. I've been on UI twice in 3 years and both times it's the same garbage. Money Network is a joke and EDD doesn't care because they have a contract with them. So we suffer while they profit off our misery.

•While I understand your frustration, there's no evidence the system is intentionally designed to be difficult. These are technical issues that unfortunately happen with many large government systems. The Money Network app does have documented problems that EDD is aware of - they just haven't prioritized fixing them. Your best bet is following the troubleshooting steps mentioned above or calling for support.

Did you try contacting Money Network support directly? Their app has been giving me problems since January. I ended up calling their number on the back of the card and after 20 mins on hold they were able to reset something on their end that fixed it. Worth a try!

•I tried calling yesterday but couldn't get through - "high call volume" message and then it hung up on me. Typical. I'll keep trying though. Thanks for the suggestion!

same thing happened to my brother few months ago turns out he was using caps in his password but the app is case sensitive but doesnt tell you that!! try all lowercase maybe??

•That's actually a good point, I might have been using caps without realizing. Will try that as well as the delete/reinstall method. Thanks!

BTW, if you're still having trouble getting your funds or if you need to talk to an EDD rep about any issues, I used a service called Claimyr that actually got me through to a real EDD person in about 20 minutes. It basically automates the calling process so you don't have to dial hundreds of times. Saved me hours of frustration when I had payment problems. They have a video that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km and their site is claimyr.com. Honestly was worth it when I was desperate.

•Of course there's a service you have to PAY to reach a government agency that should be accessible to everyone. The system is so broken it's spawned an entire industry of services just to navigate it. Unbelievable.

UPDATE: Finally got in! For anyone who has this issue in the future - deleting and reinstalling the app worked, BUT I also had to turn off my VPN which was apparently causing authentication issues. Now going to transfer this money ASAP before something else breaks. Thanks everyone for the suggestions!

•That's great news! The VPN issue is actually pretty common with banking apps - they often block connections that appear to be coming from unusual locations as a security measure. Glad you got it sorted out!

Just wanted to add that if you're still having issues with Money Network, you can also try using their website instead of the app - sometimes the web version works when the mobile app doesn't. Go to prepaid.moneynetwork.com and log in there. I've had to do this a few times when the app was acting up. Also, make sure you're not trying to transfer more than your daily limit - I think it's $2,500 per day for transfers to your bank account. Good luck!

•This is really helpful! I didn't even know there was a web version. I've been so focused on trying to get the app to work that I never thought to check if they had a website. The daily limit info is good to know too - I was wondering if there were restrictions like that. Thanks for the tip!

Another thing that helped me when I had similar issues - try logging in during off-peak hours like early morning (6-8 AM) or late evening (after 9 PM). The Money Network servers seem to get overloaded during business hours when everyone's trying to access their accounts. I noticed way fewer authentication errors when I avoided the busy times. Also, if you have multiple devices, try switching between them - sometimes what doesn't work on your phone will work on a tablet or computer. The whole system is just poorly designed but these workarounds have saved me from pulling my hair out!

•That's really smart advice about the timing! I never thought about server load being an issue but it makes total sense. I always seem to try accessing these things during lunch breaks or after work when everyone else is probably doing the same thing. Will definitely try the early morning approach next time I have issues. The multiple devices tip is great too - I only ever try on my phone but I could use my laptop. Thanks for sharing these workarounds!

I'm dealing with this exact same issue right now! It's so frustrating when you're already stressed about finances and then the system meant to help you just creates more problems. I tried the delete/reinstall method that Jacob mentioned and it actually worked for me too, but I also had to make sure I was connected to WiFi instead of cellular data - for some reason the app seems more stable on WiFi. Another thing I discovered is that if you have any other banking apps open in the background, close them all before trying to log into Money Network. I think there might be some kind of conflict with how they handle authentication. Also, don't try to log in too many times in a row or it might temporarily lock your account for "security reasons" which just makes everything worse. It's ridiculous that we have to become tech support experts just to access our own unemployment benefits. Hope everyone dealing with this gets it sorted out soon!

•Oh wow, the WiFi vs cellular data tip is something I never would have thought of! That could definitely explain some of the inconsistent behavior I've been seeing with the app. And you're absolutely right about closing other banking apps - I always have like 3-4 different bank apps running in the background. The temporary account lockout thing is terrifying though - the last thing anyone needs when they're already struggling to access their funds is to get locked out completely. Thanks for all these detailed troubleshooting steps! It's sad that we've all become unofficial Money Network tech support for each other, but at least we're helping each other out. Going to bookmark this whole thread for future reference.

This whole thread has been a lifesaver! I've been lurking in this community for months but finally had to create an account to say thank you. I'm going through the exact same Money Network nightmare right now - my payment posted 3 days ago but the app keeps giving me different error messages every time I try to transfer. Reading through all these solutions gives me hope that I can actually fix this without having to wait weeks for EDD to sort it out. I'm going to try the delete/reinstall method first, then the WiFi vs cellular data trick, and if that doesn't work I'll try accessing it during off-peak hours like Roger suggested. It's honestly both comforting and depressing to see how many people are dealing with this same broken system. At least we've built our own support network here since clearly EDD and Money Network aren't going to help us. Will definitely update once I get it working!

•Welcome to the community! So glad you finally created an account - this thread really shows how much we all need each other when dealing with these broken systems. I've been in your exact situation before and it's incredibly stressful when your money is just sitting there but you can't access it. Definitely try those solutions in order - the delete/reinstall + WiFi trick seems to work for most people. And don't feel bad about "lurking" - sometimes you just need to see that you're not alone in dealing with this chaos before you're ready to jump in. Looking forward to your update and hoping you get it sorted out quickly!

Has anyone tried using the ATM withdrawal option as a workaround? I know it's not ideal since you have to go to specific ATMs and there are daily withdrawal limits, but when I was completely locked out of transfers last year I was able to at least get some cash out to cover immediate expenses. You can find participating ATMs on the Money Network website. It's not a perfect solution since you're stuck with cash instead of having it in your bank account, but it might help if you need access to funds urgently while working through these app issues. Just another option to consider if the transfer function stays broken!

•That's actually a really smart backup plan! I didn't even think about ATM withdrawals when I was panicking about the transfer issues. It's definitely not ideal having to deal with cash, but you're right that it could be a lifesaver for covering rent or other urgent bills while trying to fix the app problems. Do you know what the daily ATM withdrawal limit is? And are there fees for using non-network ATMs? I'm definitely going to bookmark this as my emergency backup option - sometimes you just need to get your hands on some of your money even if it's not the most convenient way. Thanks for thinking outside the box on this!

I've been dealing with Money Network issues for months and one thing that's helped me is clearing the app's cache before doing the delete/reinstall method. On Android, go to Settings > Apps > Money Network > Storage > Clear Cache, then delete the app. On iPhone, you have to delete the app to clear cache. Also, when you reinstall, make sure you're not restoring from backup - do a fresh install. Another weird fix I discovered is temporarily disabling any auto-fill password managers (like built into Chrome or iPhone) before logging in. Sometimes they interfere with the authentication process. After you successfully log in once, you can turn them back on. The whole system is a mess but these extra steps have saved me from hours of frustration. Hope this helps someone!

•This is incredibly helpful! The cache clearing step makes so much sense - I always forget about that being a potential issue. And the password manager interference is something I never would have thought of. I use Chrome's auto-fill for everything and it could definitely be causing conflicts with the Money Network app's authentication. Going to save these steps and try them if I run into this problem again. It's amazing how many little technical workarounds we've all had to figure out just to access our own unemployment benefits. Thanks for sharing these detailed troubleshooting tips!

•The cache clearing tip is brilliant! I just went through this exact issue last week and wish I had seen this thread earlier. I ended up doing the delete/reinstall multiple times before it finally worked, but I bet clearing the cache first would have saved me those extra attempts. The password manager thing is so sneaky too - I never would have thought that auto-fill could mess with the authentication process, but it makes total sense. These apps probably have their own weird login requirements that don't play nice with browser auto-fill. Definitely bookmarking all these troubleshooting steps for next time. It's crazy that we've basically created our own unofficial Money Network tech support forum here!

I went through this exact same nightmare a few weeks ago and I'm so glad to see everyone sharing solutions here! What finally worked for me was a combination of several things mentioned above: delete/reinstall the app, clear cache completely, use WiFi instead of cellular, turn off VPN, AND log in during early morning hours (around 7 AM seemed to be the sweet spot). One additional tip I haven't seen mentioned - if you use two-factor authentication on other accounts, make sure your phone's SMS isn't delayed or blocked. Sometimes Money Network tries to send verification codes that get stuck in your carrier's system, which causes the "authentication error" even when your password is correct. Also, for anyone still struggling - the website version at prepaid.moneynetwork.com really is more stable than the app. I've switched to using it exclusively now and haven't had a single issue since. The interface isn't as pretty but it actually WORKS, which is all that matters when you need to pay rent! Hang in there everyone - this system is absolutely terrible but we've got each other's backs with all these workarounds! 💪

•This is such a comprehensive solution guide! The SMS verification delay is something I never would have considered but it makes total sense. I've had issues with other apps where the verification codes come through super late or not at all. And you're absolutely right about the website being more reliable - I've been stubbornly trying to make the app work when I should have just switched to the web version from the start. The 7 AM timing tip is gold too. It's really encouraging to see how this community has basically solved all of Money Network's problems for them through trial and error. Thanks for putting together such a detailed game plan!

Just wanted to chime in as someone who's been through this Money Network hell multiple times - this whole thread is like a masterclass in fixing their broken system! I've bookmarked it for future reference because let's be real, this won't be the last time these issues happen. One thing I'd add that helped me recently: if you're getting authentication errors even after trying all these fixes, sometimes it's because Money Network has flagged your account for "suspicious activity" (aka trying to log in too many times when their system is broken). When this happens, you have to wait 24 hours before trying again OR call their support line and ask them to remove the security flag. It's frustrating but worth knowing about. Also, for anyone dealing with this stress - remember that if you're facing eviction or utility shutoffs because of Money Network delays, many landlords and utility companies will work with you if you can show proof that your unemployment payment was deposited but you can't access it due to technical issues. Screenshot your EDD account showing the payment and any error messages from Money Network. It's not ideal but it can buy you time while you sort out the technical problems. We shouldn't have to become tech experts just to access our benefits, but at least this community has created an amazing resource for everyone dealing with this broken system!

•This is such valuable information about the security flag issue! I had no idea that Money Network could flag your account for "suspicious activity" just for trying to log in when their system is broken - that's adding insult to injury. The 24-hour waiting period explains why some people suddenly have success after giving up for a day. And the tip about getting documentation for landlords/utilities is really smart - I never thought about taking screenshots of the error messages as proof, but that could definitely help when explaining why rent might be late. It's so messed up that we need to have backup plans for when the system that's supposed to help us fails, but your practical advice could literally save someone from eviction. Thanks for thinking about the real-world consequences of these technical failures!

This entire thread has been incredibly helpful! I've been struggling with Money Network issues for the past week and was starting to panic about making my car payment on time. Reading through everyone's experiences and solutions has given me a clear action plan to try. I'm going to start with the delete/reinstall method combined with clearing cache, make sure I'm on WiFi with VPN disabled, and try logging in early tomorrow morning around 7 AM like several people suggested. If that doesn't work, I'll switch to using the website instead of the app. It's honestly both reassuring and infuriating to see how common this problem is. Reassuring because I know I'm not doing anything wrong and there are proven solutions, but infuriating because this is 2025 and we shouldn't have to troubleshoot a government benefit system like it's some sketchy app from 10 years ago. Thank you to everyone who took the time to share their workarounds - you're literally helping people keep roofs over their heads and lights on. This community support means everything when the official systems fail us! 🙏

•You've got a solid plan there! Starting with the basic fixes and working your way up to the website backup is exactly the right approach. The early morning timing really does seem to make a difference - I think it's because fewer people are trying to access the system at that time. Also don't forget to close any other banking apps running in the background like someone mentioned earlier - that little detail has helped several people here. Really hope you get your car payment sorted out! It's crazy that we're all having to become Money Network tech experts just to access our own benefits, but at least this thread shows you're definitely not alone in this struggle. Let us know how it goes - your success story could help the next person dealing with this mess! 🤞

I've been having the same exact issue for the past two days! The authentication errors are driving me absolutely crazy. What's worked for me so far is using the website version (prepaid.moneynetwork.com) instead of the mobile app - it's been much more stable. I also noticed that if I have any other banking or financial apps open in the background on my phone, it seems to interfere with Money Network's login process. One more tip that saved me yesterday: if you're using your phone's hotspot or public WiFi, try switching to a more stable internet connection. The app seems really sensitive to connection quality and will throw authentication errors if there's even slight network instability. It's absolutely ridiculous that we have to jump through all these hoops just to access our own unemployment benefits, but hopefully some of these workarounds help until they fix their broken system (if they ever do). Good luck everyone!

•The network stability tip is really insightful! I hadn't considered that public WiFi or hotspot connections might be causing some of the authentication issues. That could explain why some people have success at home but not when they're out and about trying to access their funds. The background apps interference is something I keep seeing mentioned throughout this thread - it's such a simple fix but apparently makes a huge difference. Thanks for confirming that the website version is more reliable too. It seems like that's becoming the go-to recommendation for anyone having app issues. Definitely going to remember the stable connection requirement - seems like Money Network's system is just really finicky about everything!

I've been dealing with Money Network issues on and off for over a year now, and this thread is like a goldmine of solutions! One thing I wanted to add that helped me recently - if you're still getting authentication errors after trying all the basic fixes, check if your Money Network card has expired or is close to expiring. I was pulling my hair out trying every troubleshooting step when it turned out my card had expired the month before and I never got the replacement in the mail. You can check your card expiration date in your EDD online account under payment history, and if it's expired you need to call EDD (not Money Network) to request a new card. It takes about 7-10 business days to arrive. In the meantime, you can still access funds through the ATM withdrawal method that someone mentioned earlier. It's such a simple thing but easy to overlook when you're focused on app troubleshooting. Just wanted to throw that out there in case it helps someone avoid the hours of frustration I went through! This whole thread should honestly be pinned at the top of the community - it's better tech support than anything EDD provides.
