Money Network app login issues - anyone else locked out of EDD funds?
Seriously frustrated right now. I've been trying to log into the Money Network app since yesterday morning to check my EDD benefits balance and transfer some money, but it keeps giving me an error message saying 'Unable to authenticate user.' I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, restarting my phone, resetting my password TWICE, and nothing works. My rent is due in 3 days and I need to access these funds! Has anyone else been having issues with the Money Network app recently? Any solutions? I tried calling their customer service but got stuck on hold for 45 minutes before giving up.

•At least I'm not alone! Did you try calling their customer service? I'm wondering if this is a widespread issue they're working on.

There's actually a system-wide update happening with Money Network this week. I got an email about it last Thursday (check your spam folder). They said there would be intermittent login issues between March 15-17 while they improve security features. Should be back up by tomorrow evening according to the email. In the meantime, if you need emergency access to your funds, you can still use the physical card at ATMs or for purchases - just the app functionality is limited.

•Thank you! I didn't get any email about this (checked spam too). Really wish they'd communicate better about these things. I'll try using the physical card at an ATM then.

•Thanks for the suggestion! I tried the website but got the same error. I'll keep trying both. It's crazy they don't have better backup systems for something so important.

I've been dealing with Money Network issues for months. Their app is notoriously unreliable. Here's what I recommend: 1. Try accessing via desktop browser in incognito mode - sometimes cached cookies can cause authentication problems 2. Call them at exactly 8:00 AM Pacific when their call volume is lowest 3. While waiting for the app to work again, you can use the physical card at any ATM (just remember there's a $3 fee at non-MoneyPass ATMs) 4. If you absolutely need to transfer funds immediately and nothing else works, consider using Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to an actual EDD representative who can help troubleshoot the Money Network connection issues. I used their service last month when my card was blocked after a password reset, and they got me connected to EDD within 25 minutes. They have a video demo that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km Don't panic yet - even when the app is down, your money is still there and accessible via the physical card.

•Is Claimyr actually legit? I thought EDD didn't work with third party services?

I'm having the EXACT same problem!!!! Been trying for TWO DAYS and nothing works. This is completely unacceptable. My benefits were deposited yesterday according to my UI Online account but I can't access them through Money Network. What happens if the app doesn't come back up soon? I have bills due!!!!!

•As I mentioned above, this is a scheduled maintenance period. Your money is safe and you can still use the physical card at ATMs or stores even while the app is down. The system should be back up by tomorrow evening.

This is why I immediately transfer my EDD funds to my personal bank account as soon as they hit the Money Network card. Their app has been problematic since they took over from Bank of America for EDD payments. One thing to try that worked for me during past outages - log in through a web browser on a computer (not your phone) and clear all cookies first. Sometimes that bypasses whatever authentication issue is happening with the app. If you're still stuck, remember that any Money Network customer service rep can help you, not just EDD. Try calling the direct Money Network number on the back of your card rather than going through EDD first.

•That's smart about transferring immediately - definitely going to do that from now on. I tried calling the Money Network number directly (it's what I meant in my original post) but got nowhere after a 45 min wait. I'll try the browser tip though, thanks!

Glad to hear it's working again! For future reference, I've found that Money Network usually sends maintenance notifications to the email address associated with your EDD account, but they don't always make it to your inbox. I set up a filter to catch emails from "@moneynetwork.com" and "@prepaidcardstatus.com" so I don't miss these updates. Also, if you're ever stuck again, most major grocery stores and pharmacies let you get cash back with purchases using the physical card - sometimes easier than finding a fee-free ATM when you're in a pinch.

•That's really helpful about setting up email filters! I never thought to do that. And good tip about cash back at stores - I always forget that's an option. This whole experience has been a wake-up call about having backup plans when these systems go down. Thanks for the practical advice!

I've been through this exact situation multiple times! Money Network outages are unfortunately pretty common. A few additional tips that have saved me: 1. Download the MoneyPass ATM locator app - it shows you all the fee-free ATMs near you when the main app is down 2. Keep the customer service number (1-866-692-9374) saved in your phone and try calling right when they open at 6 AM PST - much shorter wait times 3. If you have a smartphone, try switching between WiFi and mobile data when logging in - sometimes one connection works when the other doesn't 4. CVS and Walgreens both allow up to $35 cash back with any purchase using the physical card, no fees The system outages are frustrating but your funds are always secure. I learned to keep a small emergency fund in my regular checking account specifically for situations like this. Hope this helps others avoid the stress!

•This is such valuable info, thank you! I'm definitely downloading that MoneyPass app right now. The tip about calling at 6 AM is gold - I had no idea their hours started that early. And you're so right about keeping an emergency fund separate from EDD benefits. I learned that lesson the hard way this week when my rent was almost late because of this outage. Going to set aside a small buffer in my regular account so I'm not completely dependent on the Money Network system working perfectly. Really appreciate everyone sharing their experiences and solutions!

Just wanted to add another backup option that saved me during a similar outage last month - if you have Zelle or Venmo linked to a friend/family member's account, you can ask them to spot you the cash and then pay them back once Money Network is working again. I know it's not ideal to have to ask for help, but when rent is due and the system is down, having that safety net can be a lifesaver. Also, some credit unions offer emergency micro-loans for EDD recipients during system outages - might be worth calling yours if you have an account elsewhere. The key is having multiple backup plans because these outages seem to happen at the worst possible times!

•That's a really thoughtful suggestion about having friends/family as backup! I never considered asking someone to spot me through Zelle/Venmo during these outages. It's embarrassing to have to ask for help, but you're absolutely right that rent waits for no one. I'm going to talk to my sister about setting up something like this as an emergency plan. The credit union micro-loan idea is interesting too - I had no idea that was even a thing. It's amazing how this community shares so many practical solutions that EDD and Money Network never tell us about. Thanks for thinking outside the box!

This thread is so helpful! I'm bookmarking it for future reference. I've been using EDD benefits for about 6 months now and had no idea about most of these workarounds. The email filter tip is brilliant - I just checked and found THREE Money Network maintenance notifications in my spam folder that I completely missed! Also setting up that MoneyPass app right now. It's crazy how we have to become experts at navigating all these technical issues just to access our own benefits. Really grateful for this community sharing real solutions instead of just complaining. You all probably know more useful tips than the actual customer service reps!

•So true about becoming experts just to access our own money! I just joined this community today because I was having the same login issues as the original poster. Reading through all these responses has been more helpful than anything I found on the official EDD or Money Network websites. I had no idea about the email filters, the MoneyPass app, or even that you could get cash back at stores with the physical card. It's kind of sad that we have to rely on each other to figure out basic functionality that should just work. But I'm really grateful for everyone sharing their hard-earned knowledge! Already downloaded the MoneyPass app and set up those email filters. This community is a lifesaver!

I just went through this exact same nightmare last week! The Money Network app has been incredibly unreliable lately. Here's what finally worked for me after trying everything else: 1. Log out completely from the app and force-close it 2. Clear your phone's cache for the Money Network app specifically (not just restart) 3. Try logging in during off-peak hours - I had success around 6 AM and late evening when fewer people are using the system 4. If the app still doesn't work, the mobile website version (m.prepaidcardstatus.com) sometimes works when the app doesn't I also learned the hard way to always have a backup plan. Now I transfer most of my EDD funds to my regular bank account within 24 hours of them hitting the Money Network card. I keep just enough on there for ATM withdrawals when needed. For immediate access to your funds while the app is down, remember you can use the physical card for purchases or ATM withdrawals. Most major retailers also offer cash back with purchases, which can be faster than finding an ATM. Hope this helps and that your login issues get resolved soon! The stress of not being able to access your benefits when bills are due is absolutely terrible.

•Thank you so much for these detailed steps! I'm definitely going to try clearing the app cache specifically - I didn't know that was different from just restarting the phone. The tip about off-peak hours makes total sense too, I was probably trying to log in during the busiest times. I'm also bookmarking that mobile website URL as a backup. You're absolutely right about the stress factor - it's awful feeling locked out of your own money when you have bills due. This whole thread has taught me so much about having multiple backup plans. Really appreciate you taking the time to share what worked for you!

I've been dealing with Money Network issues for over a year now and want to share a few additional tips that have helped me: 1. If you have an Android phone, try enabling "Developer Options" and turning on "Don't keep activities" - this forces apps to fully refresh and sometimes bypasses cached login errors 2. When calling customer service, press 0 immediately when you hear the automated menu - it usually gets you to a human faster than going through all the prompts 3. Consider opening a free checking account at a credit union specifically for EDD transfers - many have mobile apps that are way more reliable than Money Network 4. Keep screenshots of your successful logins and account balances - if there are ever disputes about missing funds, you'll have proof The most important thing I learned is to treat the Money Network card like a temporary holding account, not your main banking solution. Transfer funds out as soon as possible and always keep enough cash or backup funds to cover at least one week of expenses. These outages happen way too frequently to rely on the system working when you need it most. Hang in there - we've all been through this frustration and you're definitely not alone in dealing with their terrible app reliability!

•This is incredibly helpful advice! I never would have thought about the developer options trick on Android - I'm going to try that next time the app acts up. The tip about pressing 0 immediately is genius too, I always waste time listening to the whole menu thinking I need to pick the "right" option. And you're so right about treating Money Network as just temporary storage - I learned that lesson the hard way this week! I'm definitely going to look into opening a credit union account specifically for EDD transfers. The screenshot idea is brilliant too for documentation. Thanks for sharing all these practical solutions from your experience - this community really knows how to help each other navigate these frustrating systems!

This whole thread is a goldmine of information! I had the exact same login issues with Money Network last month and wish I had found this community then. After reading everyone's solutions, I wanted to add one more tip that helped me: if you use a password manager, try typing your password manually instead of auto-filling it. Sometimes the app doesn't recognize auto-filled credentials properly during system updates or maintenance periods. Also, for anyone still having trouble, I found that logging out of ALL other banking apps on your phone before trying Money Network can help - apparently some security features can conflict with each other. The community advice about transferring funds immediately is spot on. I now set a phone reminder for every Tuesday (when my benefits usually hit) to transfer everything to my main bank account by Wednesday morning. Haven't been caught in an outage since! Thanks to everyone for sharing their hard-earned knowledge - this is exactly the kind of practical help that makes a real difference when you're stressed about accessing your benefits!

•This is such valuable advice about password managers and logging out of other banking apps! I never would have thought about those potential conflicts. Your tip about setting a Tuesday reminder is brilliant - I'm definitely going to do that. It's amazing how this one thread has become like a comprehensive troubleshooting guide that's way more useful than any official FAQ. I'm also impressed by how supportive everyone is here instead of just venting (though we all have good reason to vent about these systems!). Going to bookmark this whole conversation as my go-to reference for future Money Network issues. Thanks for adding even more practical solutions to this incredible collection of community knowledge!

This thread has been incredibly helpful! I'm dealing with the same Money Network login issues right now and was panicking about my bills. Reading through everyone's solutions has given me so much confidence that this is fixable. I'm going to try the mobile website route and clearing my app cache first, then work through the other suggestions if needed. It's really reassuring to know that even when the app is down, the funds are still safe and accessible through the physical card. I had no idea about cash back at stores or the MoneyPass ATM locator app - downloading that now! This community is amazing at sharing real-world solutions. Thanks everyone for turning a stressful situation into a learning opportunity!

•I'm so glad this thread helped ease your panic! I just went through the same thing last week and know exactly how stressful it feels when you can't access your benefits. The mobile website trick worked for me when the app wouldn't - definitely try that first. And yes, the physical card is a lifesaver during these outages! I had no idea you could get cash back at grocery stores until I read this thread either. One thing that really helped me was making a little checklist on my phone of all these backup options so I don't forget them during the next outage (because unfortunately there will probably be a next time). This community really is incredible at sharing practical solutions instead of just complaining. Hope you get logged in soon!

I've been following this thread and wanted to share something that might help future folks dealing with Money Network issues. I work in IT and noticed that many of these login problems happen during their scheduled maintenance windows, but they're terrible at communicating the exact timing. Here's what I've learned from dealing with similar systems: the authentication servers often get overwhelmed when they come back online after maintenance because everyone tries to log in at once. If you're still having trouble even after the "scheduled" end time, try waiting 2-3 hours after the official maintenance window ends before attempting to log in again. Also, for anyone tech-savvy, you can check if their servers are actually responding by pinging prepaidcardstatus.com - if you get timeouts, the issue is definitely on their end and not your device. Just open Command Prompt (Windows) or Terminal (Mac) and type "ping prepaidcardstatus.com" to test connectivity. The community advice here about having multiple backup plans is absolutely essential. I keep a small emergency fund in my regular checking account specifically for these situations, and I've taught my elderly neighbor (who also gets EDD benefits) about the cash back options at stores since she's not comfortable with apps or websites. We have to look out for each other when these systems fail us!

•This is such helpful technical insight! I had no idea about the server overload issue after maintenance - that explains why sometimes the app works again hours later than they say it will. The ping command tip is really smart too, though I'll probably need to google how to actually do that on my computer. Your point about waiting 2-3 hours after the official end time is something I'll definitely remember for next time. It's so cool that you're helping your neighbor navigate these systems too - the elderly folks dealing with EDD probably have an even harder time with all these technical issues. This whole thread has really opened my eyes to how much we need to support each other when these unreliable systems let us down. Thanks for bringing the IT perspective to help us understand what's actually happening behind the scenes!

I just wanted to say how grateful I am for this entire thread! I found it while desperately googling "Money Network login error" at 2 AM because I was panicking about not being able to access my benefits. Reading through everyone's experiences and solutions has been like finding a treasure trove of practical advice that you just can't get from official sources. I tried the mobile website suggestion and it worked immediately when the app wouldn't! I also just set up those email filters for Money Network notifications and found two maintenance alerts I had completely missed in my spam folder from last month. What really strikes me is how this community has essentially created the user manual that Money Network should have provided. The tips about MoneyPass ATMs, cash back at stores, calling at 6 AM, and transferring funds immediately are all things that should be basic information they give everyone, but instead we have to figure it out through trial and error and share it with each other. I'm bookmarking this thread and definitely following all the backup plan advice. Already downloaded the MoneyPass app and I'm going to open a credit union account specifically for EDD transfers like several people suggested. Never again do I want to feel that panic of being locked out of my own money when bills are due! Thanks to everyone who took the time to share their hard-earned knowledge - you've probably helped dozens of people avoid the stress and financial problems these outages cause.

•I'm so glad you found this thread helpful! I'm actually new to this community too and stumbled across it while having the exact same Money Network panic attack. It's incredible how everyone has shared such detailed, practical solutions that actually work. I just tried the mobile website trick myself after reading your comment and it worked perfectly! The fact that we've all had to become amateur tech support specialists just to access our own benefits is honestly ridiculous, but at least we're helping each other figure it out. I'm definitely following all the backup plan advice too - already started the process of opening a separate account for transfers. This thread should seriously be pinned as essential reading for anyone dealing with EDD benefits. Thanks for highlighting how valuable this community knowledge really is!
