EDD Money Network Card funds locked - can't transfer to bank or withdraw at ATM

Has anyone else been unable to move money from their EDD Money Network card? I've been trying to transfer my unemployment benefits to my checking account for the past two days with no luck. The Money Network app keeps giving me an error message when I try to initiate a transfer. I even went to an ATM yesterday to try withdrawing cash directly and it declined my transaction! Called Money Network customer service and after waiting 45 minutes, they said there's some system-wide 'glitch' affecting transfers and they're working on it. The rep couldn't tell me when it would be fixed though. I checked again this morning and STILL having the same issue. I've got bills due tomorrow and really need access to these funds. Is anyone else experiencing this problem with their EDD card? Any workarounds you've found?

OMG yes!!!!! its happening to me too! i tried 3 different atms yesterday and none of them worked. the money network app keeps saying "transaction cannot be processed at this time" when i try to transfer to my bank. so frustrating!!

At least I'm not alone! Did you call them too? Any idea when they'll fix it?

This happens periodically with the Money Network cards. It's usually resolved within 72 hours based on past system outages. In the meantime, you can try using your card for direct purchases at stores instead of trying to transfer or withdraw. Most places accept it like a regular debit card with no fees. For your bills, you might be able to pay directly with the card number if they accept debit cards for payment.

Thank you! I didn't think about using it directly for bills. I'll check if my utility company takes debit payments. Really hope they fix it soon though, I prefer having everything go through my main bank account.

The exact same thing happened to me last month! The Money Network system was down for almost 3 days and I couldn't access my unemployment benefits at ALL. The worst part was that EDD claimed it wasn't their problem since technically the money was already "paid out" to me. I was so worried because my rent was due and I needed that money. Does anyone know WHY these "glitches" keep happening? Is it just poor system maintenance or something more suspicious? I'm getting really tired of dealing with these constant EDD payment problems.

they dont care about us thats why. system probably from 1995 lol

If you need to reach EDD directly about this issue (which I recommend as Money Network doesn't always communicate system outages to EDD), check out Claimyr.com - I used them last month when I had a similar problem and they got me connected to an actual EDD rep in about 20 minutes instead of spending days trying to get through. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km The EDD rep was able to confirm the system issue and put a note on my account. They also told me exactly when the maintenance would be completed, which Money Network wouldn't tell me.

Thanks for this suggestion. I've never heard of this service before. Did they actually help resolve the Money Network card issue or just confirm it was happening? I'm desperate at this point so willing to try anything.

They connected me with an EDD rep who could see in their system that Money Network was having issues. The rep gave me the actual maintenance window timeframe (which Money Network refused to share with me directly). This at least let me plan accordingly. The issue ultimately resolved when their maintenance was completed, but having accurate information made a big difference.

There are actually a few temporary workarounds for this issue: 1. Try using the Money Network website instead of the app - sometimes the web version still works when the app is glitching 2. If you need cash urgently, you can do a "cash back" transaction at most grocery stores when making a small purchase 3. Some banks will let you do a "push" transfer from your bank account to pull money from the card (rather than initiating from the Money Network side) 4. Call Money Network again and specifically request a "manual transfer override" - some reps know how to do this for emergency situations I work in financial tech and these prepaid card platforms often have these kinds of systemic issues. The Money Network platform specifically tends to have maintenance issues around the 1st and 15th of the month due to high transaction volume.

Thank you so much for these suggestions! I just tried the website instead of the app and was able to initiate a transfer! It's showing as pending now. I had no idea there was a difference between the two systems. Really appreciate the detailed advice.

UPDATE on the Money Network issue: I just got an email from EDD stating the system should be fully operational again by tomorrow morning (Thursday). They're doing emergency maintenance to fix the transfer function. If you're still having problems after Thursday, they recommend calling the specific EDD Money Network support line (not the regular Money Network line) at the number on the back of your card.

Thank you for sharing this update! Really helpful to know there's a timeframe. I successfully did one small transfer through the website earlier but couldn't do a second one. I'll wait until tomorrow for the larger transfer I need to make.

I'm dealing with this exact same issue right now! Been trying to transfer funds for 3 days and keep getting error messages. It's so stressful when you have bills due and can't access your own money. I tried calling Money Network twice and got different answers each time - first rep said it would be fixed "soon" and the second one told me it could take up to a week. Really frustrating that there's no consistent information. Thanks everyone for sharing the workarounds, I'm going to try the website method and the cash back option at the grocery store if that doesn't work. This system really needs to be more reliable for people who depend on these benefits.

I feel your frustration! The inconsistent information from customer service is the worst part - you never know who to believe. I'm new to this whole unemployment system and honestly shocked at how unreliable these payment methods are. Based on what others have shared here, it sounds like the website method works better than the app during these outages. Also saw someone mention that Grace got an email saying it should be fixed by Thursday morning, so hopefully we're almost through this mess. Really hope they get their act together because this kind of stress is the last thing unemployed people need to deal with.

I'm having the exact same problem! Been trying to transfer my benefits for the past 4 days and it's driving me crazy. The Money Network app just keeps giving me generic error messages. I called their customer service line yesterday and waited over an hour just to be told there's a "system maintenance issue" with no timeline for when it'll be fixed. I have rent due this Friday and I'm starting to panic. Thank you so much to everyone who shared the workarounds - I'm going to try the website method right now and if that doesn't work, I'll do the cash back thing at the grocery store. It's honestly ridiculous that we have to jump through all these hoops just to access our own money. The whole EDD payment system feels like it's held together with duct tape and prayers.

I totally understand the panic about rent being due! I just went through this same nightmare last month and it's absolutely maddening. The "duct tape and prayers" comment is spot on - I can't believe this is the system they expect us to rely on for basic survival needs. Definitely try the website method that Grace suggested first since that worked for some people here. If that fails, the grocery store cash back trick has been a lifesaver for others. I also saw someone mention trying different ATMs since sometimes certain ones work when others don't. Hang in there - from what I've read in this thread it sounds like most of these outages get resolved within 72 hours, and Grace mentioned getting an email that it should be fixed by Thursday morning. Still doesn't excuse how poorly this whole system is managed though!

This is absolutely infuriating! I'm going through the exact same thing right now - been locked out of my Money Network card for 2 days and can't get a straight answer from anyone. I tried calling EDD directly and they just told me to contact Money Network, then Money Network says it's not their fault and to call EDD back. It's like being stuck in an endless loop while my bills pile up! Thank you everyone for sharing the workarounds - I had no idea about trying the website instead of the app or doing cash back at stores. Going to try these suggestions immediately. It's honestly shameful that people who are already struggling financially have to deal with this kind of unreliable system. We shouldn't have to become tech support experts just to access our unemployment benefits!

I'm so sorry you're dealing with this too! That endless loop between EDD and Money Network is exactly what happened to me - they just keep passing the buck while we're stuck without access to our money. It's like they don't understand that people depend on these funds for basic necessities. I'm also new to dealing with unemployment benefits and honestly had no idea the system was this unreliable. The fact that we all have to crowd-source solutions on forums like this just shows how broken the whole setup is. Definitely try the website method first - several people here said it worked when the app didn't. And if you're really desperate for cash, the grocery store cash back option seems to be the most reliable workaround. Hoping this gets resolved soon for all of us!

I'm experiencing this exact same issue! Started having problems with my Money Network card yesterday and it's been a complete nightmare. The app keeps giving me error messages when I try to transfer funds, and I went to 4 different ATMs with no luck - all of them declined my card. Called Money Network customer service this morning and after being on hold for over an hour, they gave me the same "system glitch" excuse with no real timeline for when it'll be fixed. I have my car payment due tomorrow and I'm really starting to stress out about this. Thank you so much to everyone who shared workarounds - I'm going to try the website method right now and hopefully that works better than the app. It's crazy that we have to figure out these solutions ourselves when the official customer service can't even give us basic information about when their own system will be working again!

I'm so sorry you're going through this stress too! The car payment deadline makes it even worse - there's nothing more anxiety-inducing than knowing you have the money but can't access it. I'm also new to this community and honestly shocked at how many people are dealing with the same Money Network issues right now. It really seems like this happens way too frequently for a system that people depend on for basic survival. Definitely try the website method that several people mentioned worked for them - seems like that's been the most successful workaround. And if that doesn't work, the cash back at grocery stores trick might help you get at least some cash for your car payment. Really hoping they get this fixed soon because it's ridiculous that we're all having to troubleshoot their broken system!

This is happening to me right now too! I've been trying to transfer my unemployment benefits from my EDD Money Network card for the past 3 days and keep getting the same error messages. It's so frustrating because I have bills due and need access to my own money. I called Money Network yesterday and they told me it was a "technical issue" but couldn't give me any timeline for when it would be resolved. Thank you everyone for sharing all these workarounds - I had no idea about trying the website instead of the app or doing cash back at grocery stores. Going to try these suggestions right away! It's really helpful to know I'm not the only one dealing with this, even though it's terrible that so many people are affected. This whole system needs serious improvements - we shouldn't have to hunt down workarounds just to access our benefits.

Welcome to the club, unfortunately! I'm also new here and dealing with this same Money Network nightmare - it's honestly shocking how widespread this problem is. The fact that we all have to share workarounds in forums like this just shows how broken their system really is. I just tried the website method that Grace and others mentioned and it actually worked for a small transfer, so definitely try that first! The cash back at grocery stores has been a lifesaver for others too when they need immediate cash. It's absolutely ridiculous that people who are already dealing with unemployment stress have to become tech support experts just to access their own benefits. Really hope they fix this mess soon because this level of unreliability is just not acceptable for something people depend on for basic survival.

I'm also dealing with this Money Network card issue right now! Been trying to transfer my benefits for 2 days and getting nowhere. The app keeps failing and when I called their customer service, I got the runaround for almost an hour before being told about some vague "system maintenance" with no timeline. I have my phone bill and groceries to pay for this week so this is really stressing me out. Thank you so much to everyone sharing workarounds here - I had no idea the website might work differently than the app! Going to try that immediately. It's honestly mind-blowing that we have to crowdsource solutions like this just to access our own unemployment benefits. The whole Money Network system feels completely unreliable and it's scary knowing we have to depend on it for basic survival needs.

I'm so sorry you're going through this too! The stress of having bills due while your money is basically trapped is awful. I'm also pretty new to dealing with unemployment benefits and had no idea these kinds of system failures were so common with Money Network. Reading through this thread has been both reassuring (knowing it's not just me) and terrifying (seeing how often this happens to people). Definitely try the website method first - it seems like that's been the most successful workaround for people here. I also saw someone mention that if you need cash urgently, you can try different ATMs since sometimes certain ones work when others don't. It's absolutely crazy that we have to become our own tech support just to access money that's rightfully ours. Really hoping this gets resolved quickly for all of us because this level of unreliability is just not acceptable!

I'm also experiencing this Money Network card issue right now! Been trying to transfer my unemployment benefits for the past 3 days with no success. I called Money Network customer service yesterday and after waiting over an hour, they just gave me the same vague "system maintenance" excuse without any real timeline for when it'll be fixed. I have my electric bill due tomorrow and I'm getting really anxious about this situation. Thank you so much to everyone who shared workarounds here - I had no idea that the website might work differently than the app! Going to try that method right now along with the grocery store cash back option if needed. It's honestly shocking how unreliable this system is when people depend on these benefits for essential expenses. We shouldn't have to become tech troubleshooters just to access our own money!
