EDD Money Network card transfer to bank not working - app/website issues
I've had my EDD benefits going to a Money Network card for 6 weeks now, and I CANNOT figure out how to transfer the funds to my actual bank account. I've tried both the Money Network mobile app and the website. Every time I try to set up a transfer, it either gives me an error message or just loads forever. I called the number on the back of the card twice, but after being on hold for 45+ minutes each time, I got disconnected. Has anyone successfully transferred money from their Money Network card to their bank account? What am I missing here? I've got over $2,800 sitting on this card that I need to access for rent next week!

Did u verify ur identity on the Money Network website first? U cant transfer until u do the whole identity verification thing. Took me like 3 days to figure that out lol

•Yes, I did the identity verification right when I got the card. That part worked fine. It's just when I try to do the actual transfer it gets stuck. Have you successfully moved money from your card to your bank?

•Exactly!!! Did you eventually get it to work? What did you end up doing?

•i ended up just using the atm to pull out cash and then depositing it directly. not ideal but it WORKED. had to do it over 3 days bc of the withdrawal limits tho

I've helped several people with this exact issue. Here's what you need to do: 1. Make sure your bank account is properly verified in the Money Network system. Sometimes there's a tiny verification deposit that needs to be confirmed. 2. Try using a desktop computer with Chrome browser instead of the app. The app has known issues with transfers. 3. If you're getting timeout errors, try early morning (before 8am) or late evening (after 10pm) when server traffic is lower. 4. Double-check that you haven't hit any transfer limits. Money Network caps transfers at $1,000 per day and $5,000 per month. 5. Make sure you've completed all security prompts - sometimes there are additional verification requirements that appear as small pop-ups that people miss. If none of that works, call the Money Network support line at 1-866-898-2213 and specifically ask for the "transfer department" as soon as you get a person. The general customer service reps often can't help with transfer issues.

•Thank you SO MUCH for these detailed steps! I'm going to try the desktop method tonight after 10pm. I didn't realize there were daily transfer limits - that might explain part of my problem since I was trying to move the whole balance at once. Really appreciate you taking the time to explain all this!

This is why I changed my EDD payment method to direct deposit as soon as I could. The Money Network card is nothing but headaches. You have to go into UI Online and change your payment preference to direct deposit instead of the card. For future payments anyway.

•I've already changed it to direct deposit for future payments, but I still need to get the money that's already on this card. But thanks for the tip - definitely the right move going forward!

If you're still having trouble reaching someone at Money Network, you might want to try Claimyr to get through to EDD directly. I was having a similar issue where my card was locked after trying too many transfers, and I couldn't get through to anyone. Used their service at claimyr.com and actually got to speak with someone at EDD who transferred me to the right department at Money Network to fix the issue. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km The Money Network folks can actually do things on their end to reset transfer capabilities that don't work through the app or website.

•Thanks for the suggestion. I'll try the steps from the previous comment first, but if those don't work, I might give this a try. Getting really stressed about accessing these funds before rent is due.

There's actually a known technical issue with the Money Network system right now. I spoke with an EDD representative yesterday who confirmed they're aware of the transfer functionality breaking for some cardholders, particularly when trying to transfer amounts over $1,000. The temporary workaround they suggested is to: 1. Split your transfers into smaller amounts ($500-$700) 2. Use the website (not the app) during off-peak hours 3. Ensure your browser doesn't have any ad-blockers or privacy extensions active If you continue having issues, you can also request an emergency expedited transfer by calling 866-898-2213 and using option 2, then 1, then 4 to reach the escalation team. They can process a manual transfer, though it may take 2-3 business days to complete.

•This is incredibly helpful information! Thank you so much. I'll try the smaller transfer amounts tonight. It's good to know this is a known issue and not just something I'm doing wrong. Appreciate the specific menu options for the phone system too!

Honestly the EDD payment system is SUCH a joke. First they take forever to approve claims, then they make it impossible to actually USE the money they send. My brother-in-law had the EXACT same problem last month and ended up having to withdraw cash at ATMs for a week straight because of the daily limits, then deposit the cash at his bank. The whole system is designed to make everything as difficult as possible I swear. Just one more way they try to prevent people from getting the benefits they deserve.

•I think it's more incompetence than malice tbh. They've been using the same outdated systems for decades and just patch them instead of actually updating anything properly.

UPDATE: I finally got it to work! For anyone else having this problem, here's what worked for me: 1. I used Chrome on my laptop (not the app) at 11:30pm 2. I split my transfer into three smaller amounts ($700, $700, $700) instead of trying to move it all at once 3. I made sure to add my bank account again from scratch, even though it was already saved in the system 4. I disabled my ad-blocker and cleared my browser cache before starting All three transfers went through and should hit my account in 2-3 business days according to the confirmation. Thanks to everyone who helped with suggestions! This community saved me from a major headache.
