How long does EDD Money Network card transfer to bank account take?
I just got my EDD Money Network card yesterday after waiting forever for it to arrive. I'd rather have the money in my regular checking account instead of using this card. I tried setting up a transfer through the Money Network app last night, but it's still showing as 'processing'. Does anyone know how long these transfers usually take? The website says 1-2 business days but I'm wondering if that's actually accurate or if it takes longer. Really need this money to pay rent that's already late!

In my experience, transfers from the Money Network card to a personal bank account usually take 2-3 business days to complete. The first transfer might take a bit longer as the system verifies your banking information. Make sure you entered your account and routing numbers correctly, as any errors will cause delays. Also, weekends and holidays don't count as business days, so if you initiated the transfer on a Friday night, it might not be processed until Monday and then take a couple more days to appear in your account.

•Thanks for the info. I did start the transfer on Sunday night so I guess it makes sense it's still processing. Do you think I should call EDD to check on it or just wait? I'm just nervous because my rent was due on the 1st.

•That's helpful, thanks! My landlord only takes checks or bank transfers so I can't use the card directly for rent, but good to know I can use it for other stuff while waiting. 4 days seems long but I guess I'll just have to be patient.

I've been on unemployment twice in the past few years, and I've found that the first transfer from your new Money Network card will typically take 3-5 business days. Subsequent transfers are usually faster, around 1-2 business days. If it's been more than 5 business days, then I would recommend contacting Money Network directly rather than EDD. The Money Network customer service number should be listed on the back of your card. Also, just a tip: once you've verified your bank account, you can set up automatic transfers so that every future payment automatically moves to your bank account without you having to manually transfer each time. That's been a huge time-saver for me!

•That's really useful info, especially about the automatic transfers! I'll definitely set that up once this first transfer goes through. And good to know about calling Money Network instead of EDD if there's an issue.

Anyone else having problems with the Money Network app? It keeps crashing on me when I try to check my balance. So frustrating!!!!!

•Try uninstalling and reinstalling the app. Sometimes there are updates that don't install properly. If that doesn't work, you can always check your balance and transaction history on the Money Network website instead of using the app.

If you're having trouble reaching EDD about your transfer or any other issues with your claim, I'd recommend trying Claimyr. It helped me get through to an actual EDD representative after I spent days trying to reach someone. They basically connect you to EDD without the endless busy signals and hangups. Saved me a ton of stress. You can check them out at claimyr.com and there's a video of how it works at https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km

•Thanks for the tip. If this transfer doesn't show up by Friday, I might try that service. It's been really frustrating not being able to get through to anyone at EDD.

•@profile5 I was skeptical too, but it worked for me when I had an issue with my certification. They just help you get through the phone system, they don't access your account or anything like that.

THE WHOLE EDD MONEY NETWORK SYSTEM IS A TOTAL JOKE!!!! I've been dealing with this garbage for months!!! Transfers take FOREVER and sometimes they randomly get rejected for NO REASON!!! Then you have to start all over again!!! They don't care that people need their money RIGHT AWAY to pay bills!!! The whole system is designed to make it hard on purpose I swear!!!

•I haven't had any rejected transfers with mine. Maybe call and check if there's something wrong with your account setup?

Just wanted to follow up and provide some additional information that might be helpful. Make sure when you're transferring funds that you're not hitting the daily transfer limit, which I believe is currently $1,000 per day for most Money Network cards. If your benefit amount is higher than that, you'll need to make multiple transfers over several days. Also, some banks place holds on incoming transfers from government-issued debit cards as a fraud prevention measure. So even after Money Network shows the transfer as complete, your bank might hold the funds for an additional 1-2 business days. If you're in a rush for the funds, it might be worth calling your bank to see if they can release the hold once the transfer posts.

•That's a good point about the bank hold - I didn't think about that. My transfer is under $1000 so hopefully that won't be an issue. I'll definitely keep an eye on it and call my bank if needed. Thanks again for all the helpful info!

•That's a good workaround for emergencies! I might do that for at least part of the money if the transfer doesn't complete soon. Thanks for the suggestion.

I went through this exact same situation a few months ago! My first transfer from the Money Network card took exactly 3 business days to show up in my bank account. Since you started it on Sunday night, it probably didn't actually begin processing until Monday, so you're looking at Wednesday or Thursday for it to appear. One thing that helped me was setting up text alerts through the Money Network app so I got notified when the transfer was completed on their end. That way I knew it was just waiting for my bank to process it rather than being stuck in the Money Network system. For future reference, if you need money faster, you can also get cash back at grocery stores when making small purchases with the card - usually up to $100-200 depending on the store. It's not ideal but can help in a pinch while waiting for transfers to complete.

•That's really helpful to know about the text alerts - I didn't even know that was an option! I'll set that up right now so I can track when it's completed on Money Network's side vs when my bank processes it. And the cash back tip is genius, I had no idea you could do that. Definitely going to remember that for next time. Thanks for sharing your experience!

I had a similar situation when I first got my Money Network card last year. The initial transfer took about 4 business days for me, which was longer than expected but pretty normal from what I've learned. Since you initiated it Sunday night, it likely didn't start processing until Monday, so you're probably looking at Thursday or Friday for it to hit your account. One thing that really helped me was calling my bank to give them a heads up about the incoming transfer. Some banks flag these government card transfers as potentially suspicious and put automatic holds on them. When I called ahead, they were able to note my account and release the funds as soon as they received them instead of holding them for additional review. Also, if you're really pressed for time with rent, you might want to ask your landlord if they'll accept a money order. You can get one at most grocery stores or post offices using the Money Network card, and it's treated the same as a cashier's check. Not ideal but could save you late fees while waiting for the transfer to complete!

•That's such a smart idea about calling the bank ahead of time! I never would have thought of that but it makes total sense that they might flag government transfers. I'm going to call my bank tomorrow morning to let them know to expect it. And the money order suggestion is brilliant - my landlord would definitely accept that. I'll probably do that if the transfer doesn't show up by Wednesday. Really appreciate all the practical advice!

Hey Camila! I just wanted to share my recent experience since I went through this exact same thing about 3 weeks ago. My first transfer from the Money Network card took exactly 3 business days to show up in my checking account. Since you initiated it Sunday night, it probably didn't actually start processing until Monday morning, so you should see it by Wednesday or Thursday at the latest. One tip that really helped me - log into your bank's mobile app or website and look for any pending transactions. Sometimes the transfer will show up as "pending" before it's fully available, which at least gives you peace of mind that it's on its way. Also, if you haven't already, download the Money Network mobile app and enable push notifications. They'll send you an alert as soon as the transfer is completed on their end. Since your rent is already late, you might want to call your landlord and explain the situation. Most landlords are understanding about unemployment payment delays, especially if you can show them proof that the payment is processing. Hang in there - it's frustrating but the money will come through!
