EDD Money Network card to bank transfer time - need urgent info!
I recently got my EDD benefits loaded onto my Money Network card (after waiting FOREVER for approval), but I want to transfer the funds to my Chase account instead of keeping them on the card. Does anyone know how long these transfers actually take? The EDD site is super vague saying '2-3 business days' but I'm wondering what people's real experiences are. I've got rent due next week and need to make sure the money will clear in time. Would it be faster to just hit an ATM and withdraw cash? The daily limits seem restrictive though. Anyone have recent experience with either option?

I've done this multiple times. The transfers from Money Network to my credit union typically take 2 business days, but I've seen it happen in just 1 day sometimes. It's never taken longer than the 3 days they claim. Just make sure you initiate the transfer early morning for fastest processing. Definitely better than ATM withdrawals which have those annoying daily limits of $1000 (and some ATMs have lower limits like $400-$500).

•Thanks! That's helpful. Do weekends count in that 2-3 day timeframe? My rent is due Tuesday and I'm wondering if I should initiate the transfer today (Friday) or just do the ATM route to be safe.

atms suck for this tbh. i tried pulling out my full amount once and hit like 3 different atms in one day cuz of the limits. plus some charge fees on top of the money network fees. just do the transfer.

•Exactly right. Plus there's the security risk of carrying around large amounts of cash. Bank transfers are definitely the way to go with Money Network cards, especially since they don't charge a fee for ACH transfers to your own account.

I just did this last week! Transfered $3720 from my MN card to Bank of America. Started transfer Thursday morning, money showed up Saturday morning. So technically 1 business day but it processed over the weekend which was nice. Just make sure your banking info is entered 100% correctly!!!

•Oh wow, that's faster than I expected! Good to know it might process over the weekend too. I'll double-check all my account info for sure.

Ive been on EDD for 3 months and tried both options. ATM is instant but the limits make it a pain especially if youve got a large amount. Transfers usually take 2 days for me but once it took 4 days and I nearly missed my car payment. No explanation why that one time was longer. The EDD system is so frustrating!!! Why can't they just give us direct deposit like normal employers????

•Actually, EDD does offer direct deposit now! You can set it up in your UI Online account under "Payment Methods." It's much faster than the Money Network card transfers. I've been getting my payments directly to my bank account within 24-48 hours of certification. No more card hassles!

If you're in a hurry, have you tried calling EDD to ask about expediting the transfer? I was in a similar situation last month and needed my funds urgently. After days of trying the regular EDD number with no luck, I used a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me through to an actual EDD rep in about 20 minutes. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km. The rep was able to tell me exactly how long my transfer would take and gave me some options I didn't know about. Just thought I'd mention it since it sounds like you're on a tight timeline with rent.

Anyone else notice that if you transfer on a Monday it goes through faster than if you do it on a Thursday or Friday? Or is that just me?

•There's definitely some truth to this. Banking processes tend to slow down near the end of the week. Monday-Wednesday transfers usually process more efficiently in my experience as well. It's not an official policy, just how the banking system tends to work with ACH transfers.

Update: I went ahead and initiated the transfer this morning. The Money Network site says it should be in my account by Tuesday! Cutting it close for rent but should work out. Thanks everyone for the advice!

•Great! In my experience, it often shows up earlier than their estimate. Hope that happens for you too!
