EDD debit card expired - can I transfer funds while waiting for replacement?
Realized my EDD Money Network card expired last week and I've still got $1,870 sitting on it. I requested a new card yesterday (took forever to get through to customer service!), but they said it'll take 7-10 business days to arrive. Has anyone been in this situation? Can I still transfer the money to my bank account through the Money Network app while I'm waiting for the new physical card to arrive? I've got rent due next week and really need to access those funds ASAP. Tried logging into the app but it's giving me some error about card verification.

Yes, you should still be able to transfer funds from an expired card through the Money Network mobile app or website. The expiration only affects the physical card for purchases, not your ability to access the account. Log in with your username/password (not the card details) and use the transfer function. If the app is giving you verification errors, try the website instead at moneynetwork.com

•Thanks! I'll try logging in on the website instead of the app. Didn't realize there was a difference.

•Good to know it worked for you! I'm trying to find my login details now. Can't remember if I ever set up a separate username/password or if I've always just used the card number.

WRONG INFORMATION ABOVE!! When my card expired I could NOT transfer money at all!!! Had to wait for the new card. Money Network locks everything down when card expires. This happened to me in January and I had to borrow money from my sister for 2 weeks while waiting for new card. The whole EDD system is designed to make things as difficult as possible.

•That's not entirely accurate. The ability to transfer funds depends on whether you've previously set up your online account access separate from the card. If you only ever used the card number/PIN to log in, then yes, you'll have issues when the card expires. But if you created a username/password for the Money Network account, you can still access funds. The system isn't perfect, but there are workarounds in most cases.

I understand your stress - I had a similar experience last year waiting for my replacement card. Have you tried calling EDD directly instead of Money Network? Sometimes they can help override access issues when it's an expired card situation. The EDD phone lines are almost impossible to get through though... I used a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to an actual agent. They have a demo video of how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km - saved me hours of frustration and redials. The EDD agent was able to help me regain account access while waiting for my new card.

•I've been trying EDD for days with no luck getting through. I'll check out that service - anything that helps me avoid spending hours hitting redial is worth looking into. Thanks!

Theres actually a toll-free # on back of ur expired card u can call directly for these issues. its different than regular EDD number!

•I already tried that number - it's the Money Network customer service line. They're the ones who told me 7-10 days for the new card but didn't mention anything about transferring funds in the meantime. Maybe I should call them again and specifically ask about transfers.

when my husban card expired we couldn't do transfers online at all we had to wait for new card. so frustrating!!! but my neighbor said she could do it fine so maybe it depends on how ur account is setup?? wish they would make it more clear

•You're right - it does depend on account setup. If someone only ever used their card number/PIN to log in, they'll lose access when the card expires. But if they created a username/password in the Money Network system, they can still log in and transfer funds. This is why it's important to set up those separate login credentials as soon as you get your EDD card.

For anyone else reading this with an active EDD card that hasn't expired yet: go set up your Money Network account with a username and password NOW, not just using your card details. This will save you from being locked out when your card eventually expires. Also, consider setting up direct deposit to your bank account rather than keeping large amounts on the EDD card - it's much more convenient and avoids exactly this kind of situation.

•Update: Called Money Network again and got a different rep who was more helpful. Since I couldn't verify with the expired card, they asked me security questions to verify my identity. They were able to help me set up a username/password and I just successfully transferred the funds to my bank account! Should have the money in 2-3 business days. So relieved!
