Need help transferring funds from EDD Money Network card to personal checking account - step by step?
I just got my unemployment benefits loaded onto my EDD Money Network card for the first time but I really need to move this money to my regular checking account ASAP to pay some bills. Tried looking at the instructions that came with the card but they're confusing me. Can someone walk me through exactly how to transfer the money from the EDD card to my regular bank checking account? Is there a fee for doing this? And approximately how long does the transfer usually take to show up in my account? Any help would be SO appreciated right now since my rent is due in 3 days!!!

I do this every time I get paid! Here's what you need to do: 1. Go to the Money Network website and create an account if you haven't already (moneynetwork.com) 2. Link your bank account by providing your routing and account numbers 3. Once verified, select "Transfer Funds" from the dashboard 4. Enter the amount you want to transfer 5. Confirm the transfer There's no fee for ACH transfers to your bank but it typically takes 2-3 business days to show up. If you need it faster, you can do an instant transfer but they charge $15 for that service. Hope this helps!

•Thank you SO much! Just to be clear, I need to make an account on the Money Network website first, not the EDD website, right? And do I need my EDD account number or just the card information to set this up?

•This is incorrect information. You CANNOT withdraw funds from the Money Network card at any bank teller. You can only withdraw cash at ATMs that display the Visa or AllPoint logo. There's a $1,000 daily ATM withdrawal limit too, so if OP has more than that, they'll need to do the transfer online as suggested above.

I HATE the Money Network card with a passion!!! When I tried to transfer money to my checking account last month, the system was down for "maintenance" for THREE DAYS and my rent was late because of it. Got hit with a $75 late fee from my landlord. EDD doesn't care at all about our problems with their stupid card system. Why can't they just do direct deposit like a normal organization?????

•They actually do offer direct deposit now! You can set it up in your UI Online account under "Payment Methods." I switched over last month and it's been so much easier. My payments go straight to my checking account now without dealing with that card.

•Thanks for this suggestion! Was it easy to get through to someone when you called? I've had such bad experiences trying to reach actual humans at EDD.

If you're having trouble reaching someone at EDD or Money Network to help with your card transfers, I'd recommend trying Claimyr. It's a service that gets you through to an actual EDD agent without spending hours on hold. I used it last month when my card was locked and I needed to transfer funds urgently. Saved me tons of time and stress. You can check them out at claimyr.com - they have a video showing how it works here: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km

•It's a legitimate service that many claimants use. However, for this specific issue with the Money Network card, you should call the number on the back of your card (1-866-692-9374) not the regular EDD number. The Money Network representatives can help with card-specific issues like transfers and they're usually much easier to reach than EDD agents.

Just wanted to add that you should be careful about how much you transfer at once. I learned the hard way that if you transfer more than $10,000 in a single transaction, your bank might put a hold on it for "suspicious activity" - especially if you don't usually have large deposits. I now do my transfers in smaller chunks to avoid delays.

•Wow, I wish I had that much to transfer lol! My benefit amount is nowhere near $10k, but that's good to know for the future. Thanks for the tip!

Also, don't forget to set up direct deposit for future payments so you don't have to keep doing these transfers. In your UI Online account under "Payment Methods" you can change from card to direct deposit. They'll ask for your routing and account numbers, and all future payments will go straight to your bank account instead of the card.

•That's perfect, thank you! I'll definitely set up direct deposit once I figure out this transfer. Really appreciate everyone's help here!

Just wanted to share my experience since I was in the exact same situation a few months ago! I was panicking about rent too. Here's what worked for me: 1. Call the Money Network customer service at 1-866-692-9374 (number on back of card) - they're available 24/7 and way easier to reach than EDD 2. They can walk you through setting up the online account and linking your bank 3. For urgent transfers, ask about their "expedited transfer" option - it costs more but can get money to your account same day or next business day Since your rent is due in 3 days, I'd also suggest calling your landlord to let them know you might be 1-2 days late due to the transfer timing. Most are understanding about unemployment payment delays if you communicate upfront. Also, definitely switch to direct deposit after this - it'll save you so much stress in the future! The whole process through UI Online only takes about 5 minutes to set up. Good luck, you've got this! 💪

•This is such helpful advice! I really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. I'm definitely going to call that Money Network number right now - the 24/7 availability sounds like a lifesaver. And you're absolutely right about communicating with my landlord upfront. I was so stressed I hadn't even thought of that, but it's much better than just being late without explanation. Thanks for the encouragement too - sometimes you just need someone to remind you it'll work out! 🙏

Hey there! I totally understand the stress of needing to get your money transferred quickly - been there myself! Here's a step-by-step breakdown that should help: **For immediate transfer (since rent is due soon):** 1. Call Money Network at 1-866-692-9374 (24/7 customer service) 2. They can help you set up online account access over the phone 3. Ask about expedited transfer options - costs more but faster **For online transfer:** 1. Go to moneynetwork.com and create account using your card info 2. Add your bank account (routing + account numbers) 3. Wait for verification (usually 1-2 business days) 4. Transfer funds (free ACH = 2-3 days, expedited = fee but faster) **Pro tips:** - Call your landlord NOW to give them heads up about potential 1-2 day delay - Most landlords are understanding about unemployment payment timing if you communicate upfront - Set up direct deposit in your UI Online account after this to avoid future card hassles The Money Network phone support is actually pretty good compared to EDD - they should be able to walk you through everything and help you get this sorted quickly. You've got this! 🙌

•This is exactly the kind of detailed breakdown I was looking for - thank you! I'm going to call that Money Network number right away. It's such a relief to know they have 24/7 support and can help set everything up over the phone. I was getting overwhelmed trying to figure out the website on my own. I'll definitely call my landlord too - that's really good advice about being proactive with communication. Hopefully I can get this sorted out today and avoid any late fees. Thanks for taking the time to write out all those steps! 🙏

I've been through this exact situation multiple times and here's what has worked best for me: **Fastest option for your timeline:** Call Money Network at 1-866-692-9374 and ask for an "expedited transfer" - it costs around $15 but can get your money to your bank account within 24 hours, sometimes same day if you call early enough. **Free option (but slower):** 1. Go to moneynetwork.com and register using your card number 2. Add your bank account info (routing + account number) 3. They'll do micro-deposits to verify (takes 1-2 business days) 4. Once verified, you can transfer for free but it takes 2-3 business days Since you mentioned rent is due in 3 days, I'd honestly pay the $15 for the expedited transfer to avoid any late fees from your landlord - those are usually way more expensive! Also, once you get through this, definitely switch to direct deposit in your UI Online account. Go to "Payment Methods" and you can set it up so future payments go straight to your bank. It's been a game changer for me - no more dealing with the card at all. The Money Network customer service is actually really helpful compared to trying to reach EDD directly. They should be able to walk you through everything step by step. Good luck!

•This is super helpful, thank you! I think you're absolutely right about paying the $15 for the expedited transfer - my landlord charges $50 for late fees so it's definitely worth it to avoid that. I'm going to call the Money Network number right now and ask specifically about the expedited option. I really appreciate you breaking down both the fast and free options so clearly. It's good to know that their customer service is actually helpful - I was dreading having to deal with another frustrating phone system like EDD's. Once I get through this crisis I'll definitely set up that direct deposit so I never have to stress about this again!

I went through this same panic last month when my rent was due! Here's what saved me: **Quick solution for your 3-day deadline:** 1. Call Money Network immediately at 1-866-692-9374 (they're 24/7!) 2. Tell them you need an expedited transfer - costs about $15 but gets money in your account within 24 hours 3. They can set up everything over the phone including linking your bank account **What I learned the hard way:** - Don't try to figure out the website when you're in a time crunch - just call them directly - The $15 expedited fee is WAY cheaper than late rent fees (mine would have been $75!) - Their phone support is actually really good and patient **For next time:** Once you get through this, immediately log into your UI Online account and switch to direct deposit under "Payment Methods." It takes like 5 minutes to set up and you'll never have to deal with card transfers again. Also, call your landlord TODAY and give them a heads up that your payment might be 1-2 days late due to unemployment payment processing. Most are understanding if you communicate upfront rather than just being late without explanation. You've got this! The Money Network people will walk you through everything step by step. 💪

•This is exactly what I needed to hear! I was getting so overwhelmed trying to navigate everything online while panicking about my rent deadline. Your point about the $15 fee being way cheaper than late fees really puts it in perspective - I was hesitating about paying extra but you're absolutely right. I'm calling that Money Network number right now and asking for the expedited transfer. Thanks for the reminder about calling my landlord too - I keep putting it off because I'm embarrassed but it's definitely better to communicate upfront. Really appreciate you sharing your experience and the encouragement! 🙏

I was in your exact situation a few weeks ago and totally feel your stress! Here's what worked for me when I needed the money fast: **Immediate action for your 3-day deadline:** 1. Call Money Network right now at 1-866-692-9374 (they're open 24/7) 2. Ask specifically for an "expedited transfer" - it's about $15 but gets your money there in 24 hours or less 3. They can set up your online account and link your bank over the phone - don't waste time trying to figure out the website when you're in a rush **Why the expedited transfer is worth it:** Your landlord's late fee is probably $50-100, so paying $15 to avoid that makes total financial sense. Plus you'll have peace of mind! **Communication tip:** Call your landlord today and let them know your unemployment payment is processing and might be 1-2 days late. Most are understanding about government payment delays if you're upfront about it. **For the future:** Once this crisis is over, immediately go to your UI Online account and switch to direct deposit under "Payment Methods" - it takes 5 minutes and you'll never deal with card transfers again! The Money Network customer service is surprisingly helpful compared to EDD. They walked me through everything patiently when I was stressed out. You've got this! 💪

•Thank you so much for this advice! I'm definitely calling Money Network right now - the 24/7 availability is perfect since I was worried about having to wait until business hours. You're absolutely right about the $15 being worth it to avoid late fees. My landlord actually charges $75 for late rent so this will save me money in the long run. I was hesitating about calling my landlord but you and others have convinced me it's the right thing to do - better to be proactive than just disappear. Really appreciate you sharing your recent experience and the step-by-step guidance!

I know this is stressful but you're going to get through this! Based on everyone's advice here, it sounds like calling Money Network at 1-866-692-9374 for the expedited transfer is your best bet given the tight timeline. One thing I wanted to add that I learned from my own experience - when you call, have your bank routing and account numbers ready to go. They'll need those to set up the transfer, and having them handy will make the call go much faster. Also, if for some reason the expedited transfer isn't available or there are any issues, you can always go to an ATM and withdraw cash (up to the daily limit) and then deposit it directly into your bank account at a branch or ATM. It's not ideal but it's an immediate backup plan. The fact that you're being proactive about this shows you're handling it right. Most people I know who've dealt with EDD card issues say the Money Network support is actually pretty decent, so hopefully they'll get you sorted quickly. Keep us updated on how it goes!

•This is really solid backup advice! I hadn't even thought about having my bank info ready before calling - that's going to save me time fumbling around during the call. The ATM withdrawal option is smart too as a plan B, though hopefully the expedited transfer will work. I really appreciate how supportive everyone has been in this thread. It's such a relief to know I'm not the first person to go through this stress and that there are actual solutions. I'll definitely update once I get this sorted out!

I just wanted to chime in as someone who went through this exact panic situation about 6 months ago! The advice everyone's given here is spot on - definitely call Money Network at 1-866-692-9374 and ask for the expedited transfer. One small tip that helped me: when you call, if you get put on hold, don't hang up! I almost gave up after being on hold for 10 minutes but then someone picked up and was super helpful. The wait was totally worth it. Also, after you get this sorted out, I can't stress enough how much easier direct deposit makes everything. I switched over right after my rent crisis and it's been such a game changer - no more card hassles, no more transfer fees, money just shows up in my account automatically. You're being smart by asking for help here instead of just panicking alone. The unemployment process is stressful enough without having to deal with payment transfer issues on top of it. You've got a solid plan now thanks to everyone's advice - you're going to get through this! 💪
