How long does EDD Money Network deposit take to appear in my bank account?

I just made my first transfer from my EDD Money Network card to my Chase checking account yesterday afternoon. The confirmation said 1-2 business days, but I'm getting anxious because I have bills due tomorrow. Has anyone done this recently? How long did it actually take for the money to show up in your bank account? Does it matter what bank you use? The agent on the phone wasn't very helpful and just kept repeating the "1-2 business days" line.

It usually takes 1-2 business days like they said, but it really depends on your bank. When I transfer from Money Network to my credit union, it's almost always available the next morning if I do the transfer before 2pm. Transfers made after that cutoff time or on weekends take longer. Chase is generally pretty quick with ACH transfers though.

Thanks! I made the transfer around 4pm yesterday, so maybe that's why it's not showing yet. I'll try to be more patient.

THE SYSTEM IS A JOKE!! I've had transfers take up to 5 DAYS before! They claim "1-2 business days" but that's total BS. EDD and Money Network are in cahoots to hold onto our money as long as possible so they can collect interest. My last transfer took 4 days and when I called they just gave me the runaround!!!

same happened 2 me last month so frustrating

That's not entirely accurate. The delay is usually on the receiving bank's end, not Money Network. Each bank has different processing times for incoming ACH transfers. Money Network initiates the transfer on their end within 24 hours, but they can't control how quickly your bank makes the funds available.

Hmm, that's interesting. I wonder if Chase is more like Wells Fargo or BofA in terms of processing speed. I guess I'll find out soon enough!

The transfer time depends on several factors: 1. When you initiated the transfer (transfers made after 2-3PM typically count as next business day) 2. Your bank's ACH processing schedule (larger banks are usually faster) 3. Whether it's a weekend or holiday (these don't count as business days) For Chase specifically, I've found that transfers from my Money Network card usually appear in 1 business day if done early in the morning, or 2 business days if done in the afternoon or evening. Also, make sure you entered your account/routing numbers correctly, as errors can cause delays.

This is super helpful! I've been having the same issue with my Wells Fargo account. I never realized the time of day mattered so much. Do you know if there's a way to do instant transfers from Money Network? I'd be willing to pay a small fee for that option when I'm in a rush.

Unfortunately, Money Network doesn't offer instant transfers to bank accounts. Your fastest option is to use the Money Network card directly for purchases or withdraw cash at an in-network ATM (there's a daily limit though). You can also cash out the full balance at certain banks that participate with Money Network, but you'll need to bring your ID and card.

I had the exact same issue! I was pulling my hair out trying to get through to them. Finally I found this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that helped me get through to an EDD rep in about 20 minutes instead of spending days redialing. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km. Totally worth it when you're desperate to speak to someone about time-sensitive payment issues.

I've been going through this same situation with my EDD payments for months now. Quick tip: if you need the money faster in the future, you can set up direct deposit to your bank account through UI Online instead of using the Money Network card. That way, new payments go straight to your bank. For existing funds on the card though, the transfer time others mentioned is pretty accurate.

I didn't know you could bypass the Money Network card completely! That would definitely be more convenient. I'll check out the direct deposit option in UI Online. Thanks for the tip!

EXACTLY!!! They don't care that we have BILLS and RENT to pay! The whole system is designed to make it difficult for us!!!

For future reference, it's best to initiate transfers at least 3-4 business days before bills are due, just to be safe. The timing can be unpredictable, especially around holidays or when transfers are made late in the day.

Just to follow up - has your money appeared in your account yet? If it's been more than 3 business days, you might want to contact both Money Network and Chase to make sure there wasn't an error with the transfer.

It finally showed up this morning! It took exactly 2 business days. Not ideal since my bills were due today, but at least it arrived. Thanks for checking back. I'll definitely plan better for next time and transfer the funds earlier.

Glad to hear it worked out! For anyone reading this thread later, it's worth noting that setting up automatic transfers can help too. You can schedule recurring transfers from your Money Network card to happen right after your benefits are deposited, so you don't have to remember to do it manually each time. Just make sure to account for the 1-2 day delay when timing your bill payments.

I'm new to this whole EDD Money Network thing and reading through all these experiences is making me nervous about my own upcoming transfer! I just got my first payment and was planning to transfer it this weekend, but now I'm realizing that might not be the best timing. Quick question - if I do the transfer on a Friday afternoon, does that mean it won't even start processing until Monday? And then I'd potentially be waiting until Tuesday or Wednesday for it to hit my account? Just trying to understand the timeline better so I can plan accordingly.

You're right to be cautious about timing! If you initiate the transfer on Friday afternoon, it likely won't start processing until Monday since weekends don't count as business days. So yeah, you'd probably be looking at Tuesday or Wednesday for the funds to appear in your account. My advice would be to either do the transfer early Friday morning (before 2pm) or wait until Monday morning to have more predictable timing. Also, since you're new to this, consider setting up direct deposit through UI Online for future payments - it eliminates the whole Money Network card step entirely.

@Fatima Al-Mazrouei gives great advice! I learned this the hard way when I first started. Weekend transfers are basically dead time - nothing happens until Monday. I ve'found that Tuesday morning transfers tend to be the most reliable if you need the money by Thursday/Friday. Also, one thing that helped me was keeping a small buffer in my regular checking account for bills, then treating the EDD transfer as a refill "rather" than relying on it for immediate expenses. It takes the stress out of the timing!

Welcome to the EDD journey! I totally get the anxiety - I was in the same boat a few months ago. One thing I wish someone had told me earlier is to keep track of your transfer times and which bank you're using. I started keeping a simple note in my phone with dates and how long each transfer took, and it really helped me predict timing for future transfers. Also, don't stress too much about the occasional delay - it's frustrating but pretty normal. The system isn't perfect, but it does work eventually. Good luck with your first transfer!

@Connor O'Brien, I completely understand the anxiety! I just went through my first few transfers recently and was stressed about the timing too. One tip that really helped me was to log into your Money Network account online and check the "Transfer History" section - it shows you exactly when the transfer was initiated and gives you a tracking number. You can also see the status (pending, processing, completed). This helped me feel more in control of the process rather than just waiting and wondering. Also, most banks will show pending ACH transfers in your account, so even if the money isn't available yet, you might see it listed as "pending" which gives you peace of mind that it's on the way.

Hey @Connor O'Brien! I totally get the nerves - I was in the exact same position a few weeks ago with my first transfer. Everyone here has given you solid advice about the timing. One thing I'd add is that you can actually call the Money Network customer service line (it's on the back of your card) and they can give you a more specific timeframe based on your bank. When I called, they told me that transfers to my credit union typically take 2 full business days, which helped me plan better. Also, don't be afraid to start with a smaller test amount for your first transfer if you're worried - that way you can see how long it takes with your specific bank before transferring larger amounts. Welcome to the community!

@Connor O'Brien Just went through my first transfer last month and had the same worries! Here's what I learned: Friday afternoon transfers are definitely risky timing-wise. I made that mistake and ended up waiting until Wednesday for the funds to clear. Now I stick to Monday-Wednesday morning transfers to avoid weekend delays. Also, download the Money Network mobile app if you haven't already - it lets you track your transfer status in real time and sends push notifications when the money actually leaves their system. Makes the whole process way less stressful when you can see what's happening. Good luck with your first transfer!

I've been using the Money Network card for about 6 months now and here's what I've learned about transfer timing: Chase is actually one of the faster banks for ACH transfers. Since you did your transfer yesterday afternoon, you'll likely see it tomorrow morning if it was before 3pm, or Wednesday if it was later. One thing that helped me reduce anxiety about timing was setting up email/text alerts in my Chase app for incoming deposits - that way I get notified the moment it hits my account instead of constantly checking. Also, for future reference, Money Network usually processes outgoing transfers around 11pm PST, so transfers initiated early in the day have a better chance of going out same day. Hang in there - the 1-2 business day estimate is pretty accurate for Chase in my experience!

This is really reassuring! I'm actually using Chase too, so it's good to hear they're on the faster side. I never thought about setting up alerts for incoming deposits - that's such a smart idea and would definitely save me from obsessively checking my account balance every few hours. The 11pm processing time detail is super helpful too. I did my transfer around 1pm yesterday, so fingers crossed it shows up tomorrow morning. Thanks for sharing your experience - it really helps to hear from someone who's been through this routine for a while!

@Ryder Ross That s'really helpful info about the 11pm processing time! I had no idea they had a specific cutoff like that. I m'also using Chase and have been wondering about their processing speed compared to other banks. Quick question - have you ever had issues with transfers getting delayed or rejected? I m'planning my first transfer soon and want to make sure I don t'run into any surprises. Also, do you know if there s'a limit to how much you can transfer at once from the Money Network card?
