EDD Money Network to Navy Federal transfer time over weekend - anyone know?
I finally got paid after waiting 7 weeks for my claim to process (that's another story), but now I'm trying to transfer funds from my EDD Money Network card to my Navy Federal Credit Union account. I initiated the transfer on Friday afternoon around 3pm, but it's still not showing in my Navy Federal account. Does anyone know how long these transfers typically take over weekends? The EDD site just says '2-3 business days' but I'm not sure if that means Monday-Tuesday or if weekend days count at all. Getting a bit anxious since I have bills due Tuesday morning. Thanks in advance for any insight!

I've done this transfer a few times with Navy Federal specifically. Typically it takes 2-3 BUSINESS days, so weekend doesn't count. Since you initiated Friday afternoon, it probably won't even start processing until Monday morning, and you'll likely see it Tuesday or Wednesday. Pro tip: If you need money faster in the future, you can use the Money Network ATM withdrawal option and then deposit cash directly at a Navy Federal branch - that's instant.

•Thanks for the info! That's what I was afraid of... I'll have to call my landlord and see if I can get an extension. Really wish EDD would make this clearer on their website. Appreciate the ATM tip for next time!

•Actually that's not entirely true. Some transfers between the same bank DO process on weekends now. My Chase-to-Chase transfers show up same day even on Sundays. But yeah, for transfers between different institutions like Money Network to Navy Federal, weekends definitely don't count. Banking system is still living in the 1990s...

For me, transfers from Money Network to my credit union always take exactly 3 business days. So if you did it Friday afternoon, the clock doesn't even start ticking until Monday, which means you'd likely see it Thursday. One thing to watch for - sometimes Navy Federal will show a pending deposit before it fully clears, so check the pending transactions section of your account too. If you need to get through to EDD to ask about this or speed things up, I had good luck using Claimyr to connect with an EDD agent without waiting on hold for hours. Their site is claimyr.com and they have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km. Helped me resolve a payment issue much faster than I expected.

•Thanks for the detailed response. I just checked and don't see anything in the pending section either. That Claimyr service sounds interesting - did you have to wait long to talk to someone? I'm not sure if EDD can even do anything about transfers that are already initiated, but might be worth a try if it doesn't show up by Wednesday.

•They connected me in about 25 minutes compared to the 3+ hours I spent the day before trying to get through on my own. You're right though - once a transfer is initiated, EDD probably can't speed it up since it's in the banking system. But if you have urgent bills, they might be able to advise on faster alternatives or confirm exactly when the money will arrive based on their records.

The transfer time depends on multiple factors, but generally when transferring from the Money Network card to external bank accounts: 1. Transfers initiated before 1:00 PM PT on a business day may begin processing the same day 2. Transfers after 1:00 PM PT typically begin processing the next business day 3. Weekends and federal holidays don't count as business days 4. Navy Federal specifically tends to hold incoming ACH transfers for 1 additional business day for security Since you initiated Friday afternoon, the process likely won't begin until Monday, and with Navy Federal's policies, you're looking at Wednesday or Thursday before the funds are available. For future reference, you can also use the Money Network Mobile App to transfer funds, which sometimes processes slightly faster than transfers initiated through the website.

•Wow, thank you for breaking it down so clearly! Didn't realize Navy Federal holds transfers an extra day - that explains a lot. I'll download the Money Network app right now for next time. Appreciate the detailed explanation!

This is y I always just cash out at Walmart with the Money Network card. No waiting. Just pay the small fee and be done with it. Banks take 4ever with transfers no matter what they say on their websites.

•That's a valid option for emergencies, but those cash-out fees add up over time. If you're getting regular UI payments, you might be losing $10-20 per month just in fees. Setting up direct deposit to your bank from the start bypasses the Money Network card entirely and is much more efficient for recurring payments.

So did you ever get your money? I'm in exactly the same situation now and wondering if you could share how long it actually took in the end? Did you have to do anything special to make it go through faster?

•Just got it this morning (Wednesday)! So it took 3 business days exactly (Friday→Monday→Tuesday→Wednesday). Didn't do anything special, just had to wait it out. Next time I'll definitely either use the ATM method someone mentioned above or plan the transfer earlier.

I've been dealing with EDD transfers to Navy Federal for over a year now and can confirm what others have said - it's always exactly 3 business days, no exceptions. Friday transfers don't even start processing until Monday morning, so you're looking at Wednesday or Thursday. One thing I learned the hard way is to always initiate transfers on Monday or Tuesday if you need the money by Friday. Also, Navy Federal's mobile app will show pending ACH deposits about 12 hours before they actually clear, so that can give you a heads up. The whole system is frustrating but at least it's predictable once you know the timeline.

•This is super helpful info! I'm new to dealing with EDD and Navy Federal transfers, so knowing it's predictable at 3 business days helps manage expectations. The tip about the mobile app showing pending deposits early is great - I'll definitely keep an eye on that. It's annoying that they don't make this timeline clearer upfront, but at least now I know to plan transfers earlier in the week. Thanks for sharing your experience!
