Money Network card to BOA transfer showing 'invalid account status' - need urgent help!

Been trying to transfer my EDD benefits from my Money Network card to my Bank of America checking account for the past week. Every time I attempt the transfer through the Money Network app, I keep getting an error message saying 'invalid account status.' I triple-checked my routing and account numbers - they're definitely correct. My bills are coming due next week, and I can't afford to wait much longer to access these funds. Customer service keeps putting me on hold forever and then disconnecting. Has anyone else run into this weird 'invalid account status' error? What did you do to fix it? Is this something on EDD's end or Bank of America's problem?

same thing hapned to me last month!! so annoying, right? check if ur BOA acct is a joint acct, they dont let u transfer to joint accts for some reason

It's not a joint account - it's just under my name only. Really strange. Did your issue eventually resolve itself or did you have to do something specific?

I had this EXACT problem in January!!! The Money Network card is honestly THE WORST way to distribute benefits I've ever seen. After HOURS of frustration, I finally figured out the problem was that I had my account set up for overdraft protection. Apparently Money Network's system flags accounts with certain features as 'invalid' 🙄 Try calling BOA first and ask them to temporarily remove overdraft protection, THEN try the transfer again. Worked for me!

Wow, that's so weird! I never would have thought overdraft protection would cause this. I'll definitely try calling BOA tomorrow to remove it temporarily. Thanks so much for this tip!

I work at a credit union and can confirm this is sometimes an issue with Money Network. Their system has compatibility issues with certain account features like overdraft protection and account alerts. It's not just BOA - happens with many banks. Another workaround is using the Money Network check option instead of direct transfer.

Not to hijack ur thread but im dealing with the SAME problem except with Chase! this whole EDD payment system is so broken. i ended up just withdrawing cash from ATMs (u get 2 free withdrawals per month) and depositing it manually. not ideal but it worked when i was desperate

Thanks for sharing! That's not a bad workaround if I get really desperate. The ATM withdrawal limits are pretty low though, aren't they? Might take several trips to get all the money out.

Have you tried contacting EDD directly about this? Sometimes the Money Network card issues need to be addressed by EDD rather than Bank of America or Money Network customer service. I went through something similar with Wells Fargo last year. I was going CRAZY trying to get through to someone at EDD. After days of busy signals, I found this service called Claimyr that got me through to an EDD rep in about 20 minutes. They bypass the phone maze somehow. Saved me from waiting weeks to resolve my card issue. Their site is claimyr.com and they have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km Might be worth trying if you keep getting disconnected. The EDD rep I spoke with was able to fix something on their end that was blocking my transfers.

I hadn't thought about contacting EDD directly - I assumed it was a Money Network issue. Thanks for the tip about Claimyr, I'll check out that video. At this point I'll try anything to get this fixed before my rent is due!

Is that service legit? I'm always skeptical of these things that promise to get you through to EDD. Seems too good to be true with how impossible it is to reach them.

Let me try to clear up some of the confusion here. This 'invalid account status' error typically occurs for a few specific reasons when transferring from Money Network to Bank of America accounts: 1. If your BOA account has any restrictions or special status (fraud alerts, overdraft protection, recent security holds) 2. If there's a name mismatch between your EDD claim and your bank account (even minor differences like having a middle initial on one but not the other) 3. If you've exceeded transfer limits (either Money Network's limits or your bank's incoming transfer limits) 4. If your BOA account is newer than 90 days (some Money Network security protocols flag newer accounts) The fastest resolution is usually to: 1. Call BOA to verify there are no restrictions on your account 2. Ensure your name matches exactly between systems 3. Try a smaller test transfer amount first (like $10) If none of that works, calling EDD directly is your best bet as they can reset things on their end. Money Network customer service often doesn't have the authority to fix these specific issues.

Thank you for this detailed explanation! My account is definitely older than 90 days, and my name should match exactly. I think the overdraft protection suggestion might be the culprit. I'll try your suggestion of a small test transfer too after I talk to BOA about removing the overdraft protection.

wait can a fraud alert really cause this?? i had a fradulent charge on my acct last month so BOA might have put an alert on it

Just coming back to say I hope one of these solutions worked for you! This whole EDD/Money Network system is honestly a nightmare. Took me almost 3 weeks to get my money the first time I had this issue. Now I just have my benefits direct deposited and avoid the card completely - SO much easier!

Update: Called BOA this morning and sure enough, it was the overdraft protection! They temporarily disabled it, and I just successfully transferred a test amount of $25 from my Money Network card. Going to try the full amount later today. Thanks everyone for your help! And yeah, I'm definitely switching to direct deposit for future payments - lesson learned!

Great to hear! For anyone else reading this thread with similar issues, here's how to set up direct deposit for future EDD payments to avoid Money Network card problems: 1. Log in to UI Online 2. Select 'Profile' 3. Choose 'Payment Method' 4. Select 'Change Payment Method' 5. Follow the prompts to enter your bank information It typically takes 1-2 payment cycles to switch over completely.
