Money Network Card activation app won't complete - stuck in verification loop

I finally received my EDD Money Network card yesterday after waiting nearly 3 weeks since my first certification was paid. The relief was short-lived though because I can't activate the darn thing! I downloaded the Money Network app and got through most of the verification process - entered all my info, took photos of my ID, the whole thing. But at the final step, it just hangs with a spinning circle. When I try calling the number on the back of the card, the automated system says my card is already 'in the verification process' and disconnects me. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling the app three times and tried on both WiFi and cellular data. My bills are piling up and I can't access the $2,670 that's supposedly on this card. Has anyone else encountered this problem? Any suggestions for how to get this resolved without waiting another 3 weeks?

The EXACT same thing happened to me last month! The Money Network app is garbage. Try this instead - call 1-866-320-8699 and when the system asks for your card number, just press # a bunch of times. It'll think you're entering an invalid card and will transfer you to a live person. Tell them you need manual activation because the app is broken. They did it for me in about 5 minutes once I got through.

Thank you!!! I'll try that right now. Did they give you any trouble about bypassing the app verification?

This isn't helpful advice. The app has known server-side issues that randomly timing your attempts won't fix. The OP needs to contact Money Network directly to have the card manually activated and possibly reset the verification status in their system.

I had similar issues with the Money Network app when I got my EDD card. After trying everything with the app, I found that using Claimyr (claimyr.com) was the best way to actually get someone on the phone who could help. They have a service that connects you directly to an EDD agent who can override the activation issue. Saved me hours of frustration. Thanks for the suggestion. I thought Claimyr was just for getting through to regular EDD. Didn't realize they could help with Money Network card issues too. I'll check out that video.

I'm using an iPhone 13 so I don't think that's the issue, but maybe I can try on my husband's phone. Worth a shot at this point!

This is a common issue with the Money Network verification system. What's happening is your verification attempt is stuck in a pending state in their system, which is why both the app and phone system are rejecting new attempts. You need to: 1. Call Money Network at 1-866-320-8699 2. When prompted for your card number, press 0 repeatedly until it transfers you to a representative 3. Explain that your card activation is stuck in verification limbo 4. Ask them to reset the verification status in their system 5. They'll likely ask you for your SSN and DOB to verify your identity 6. Once they reset it, you should be able to activate via phone immediately If you still can't get through, you can also try visiting any Bank of America branch in person - they can sometimes help with Money Network cards issued for EDD benefits.

THANK YOU!! This worked! I had to wait on hold for about 25 minutes, but the rep was able to reset my verification status and then helped me activate the card while on the phone. I can now see my balance and set up direct deposit to my bank account. Such a relief!

I'm having the EXACT same problem right now!!! Been trying for 2 days to activate this stupid card and my rent is due TOMORROW. Did anyone find a solution that actually works? I'm seriously about to drive to the EDD office because all of this online/app garbage never seems to work right. So frustrating!!!

The EDD office won't be able to help with Money Network card issues as they're handled by a separate contractor. Follow the steps I outlined above - call the Money Network number and have them reset the verification status. It's the most reliable solution.

The Money Network app is completely broken right now. I was talking to my cousin who works in IT and he said they're having database issues that are affecting account creation. Not your fault at all. I'd recommend just keep calling their customer service number until you get a human. That's what worked for me after my account got stuck in the same loop.

OMG thank you for confirming it's not just me being stupid with technology! I've been feeling like I'm doing something wrong this whole time.

Just to update everyone - I got through to Money Network this morning after trying the # trick. The rep told me they're experiencing major activation issues with the app right now due to a system upgrade that went wrong. They're prioritizing people who call in for manual activation. The wait time was about 40 minutes but they got it fixed quickly once I got through.

That matches what they told me too. The rep mentioned they've been dealing with this issue for about a week now and are working on a fix. For anyone else having this problem, definitely call rather than relying on the app!
