Money Network app keeps freezing at account setup - can't access EDD benefits

Has anyone else been struggling with the stupid Money Network app? I got my EDD card last week and I've been trying to set up the mobile app to check my balance and transfer funds. The app keeps freezing when I get to the verification screen! I enter my card info, then it asks for SSN and DOB, but after I enter everything correctly and hit continue - it just hangs there with the loading circle spinning forever. I've tried deleting and reinstalling 3 times, restarting my phone, even tried my wife's phone but same problem. This is so frustrating because I need to transfer some of this money to pay rent next week. The website works but it's so clunky on mobile. Anyone found a fix or having the same issue?

I had this EXACT problem last month! It's frustrating because they don't tell you what's wrong. The fix for me was making sure my phone's date and time were set to automatic, not manual. Also, try connecting to WiFi instead of using cell data when setting up - that made a difference for some reason. The Money Network app is notoriously buggy but once you get it working, it's pretty useful for tracking your payments.

Thanks! Just tried the date/time thing and connecting to WiFi but still having the same problem. Did you have to call someone to fix it? I'm going crazy over here.

I have plenty of storage (128GB and only half full). But thanks for the suggestion!

The Money Network app has been terrible for years. I gave up and just use their website on a computer. The alternative is calling their customer service at 1-866-898-2213, but prepare to wait at least 30-45 minutes. You might need to verify your identity again since sometimes their system flags new accounts. Also make sure you're using the correct Money Network app - there are several with similar names in the app stores.

Good point about the right app. I double-checked and I have the one with the black and white logo that says "Money Network Mobile App" from Money Network Financial, LLC. I guess I'll try calling them tomorrow. Dreading that wait time though.

I work with unemployment claims regularly, and this is a common issue with the Money Network app. Here are some additional troubleshooting steps: 1. Make sure you've waited 24-48 hours after activating your card before trying to set up the app 2. Try clearing your browser cache and cookies if using the website 3. Check if you have any VPN or security apps that might be blocking the connection 4. Verify that the name you're entering EXACTLY matches what's on your EDD account (including middle initials, etc.) If none of that works, you might need to contact Money Network directly to reset your online access. Their customer service is separate from EDD, so calling EDD won't help with app issues.

Thank you for the detailed help! I did wait about 3 days after activating before trying the app. I'll try the name matching thing - maybe I'm entering it differently than what's on my claim. Super helpful, thanks!

Same thing happens to me every time! So annoying!!! I just gave up and use the website now. EDD needs to get with the times and make their tech work better.

This isn't directly related to the app issue, but if you're having trouble connecting with Money Network customer service (which you probably will), I had great success using Claimyr to get through to an actual person. The website is claimyr.com and they have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km Basically, they connect you with EDD agents without you having to keep calling back. I was skeptical at first but it saved me HOURS of frustration when I was having issues with my card not receiving payments. They can transfer you to Money Network support if needed.

This sounds interesting - I'll check out that video. At this point I'm willing to try anything to get this resolved. Thanks for sharing!

do they take ur info? seems sketchy

It's not sketchy - they just help you get through the phone systems faster. They don't access your EDD account or anything like that. You still talk directly with the EDD or Money Network representatives.

Thanks! I have an iPhone but there's probably a similar process. I'll look it up and try that approach!

UPDATE: I called Money Network customer service this morning (waited 52 minutes!) and they said there's a known issue with the app for some users. They had to manually reset something on their end for my account. The rep said to wait 2 hours then try installing the app again. IT WORKED! Finally got access to my funds. If you're still stuck, definitely call them - just be prepared for the long wait.

Thank you so much for coming back to update! I'll definitely call them today. 52 minutes is painful but worth it if it fixes the problem. Really appreciate you sharing what worked!

Great to hear you got it resolved! This is exactly why it's important to contact Money Network directly for these types of issues rather than EDD. They're separate systems.

I've been dealing with this exact issue for weeks! The Money Network app is so frustrating. What finally worked for me was a combination of a few things: 1) Making sure I was on a stable WiFi connection (not cellular), 2) Closing ALL other apps before opening Money Network, and 3) This is key - when you get to the verification screen, don't tap "Continue" right away. Wait about 10-15 seconds after entering your info, then tap it. For some reason the app needs that extra time to process. I think there's a timing issue with their servers. Also try doing it during off-peak hours (early morning or late evening) when fewer people are using the system. Hope this helps someone avoid the long customer service wait!

I had this same freezing issue last month! What ended up working for me was logging into the Money Network website first on a computer, completing the full account setup there, and THEN downloading the mobile app. For some reason the app has trouble with the initial verification process, but once your account is fully set up through the website, the app works fine. Also make sure you're entering your SSN without any dashes or spaces - just the 9 digits. The website setup takes about 10 minutes and you can do everything there that you need (check balance, transfer funds, etc.) until the app is working properly.

This is brilliant advice! I never thought to set up the account on the website first before using the app. That makes so much sense - the mobile app verification is probably just poorly designed compared to the desktop version. I'm going to try this approach right now. Also good tip about the SSN format - I might have been putting dashes in there. Thanks for sharing what worked for you!

I've been having the exact same problem for the past week! The app keeps getting stuck on that verification screen no matter what I try. Reading through all these suggestions, I think I'm going to try the approach of setting up my account through the website first before attempting the mobile app again. It's so frustrating that EDD partnered with Money Network when their technology is clearly not up to par. Has anyone noticed if this freezing issue is worse during certain times of day? I'm wondering if their servers just get overloaded when everyone tries to access their benefits at once.

I've noticed the same timing pattern! The app definitely seems to work better during off-peak hours. I had success around 6 AM on a weekday when fewer people were probably trying to access their accounts. The server overload theory makes total sense - these government contractor systems are notorious for not being able to handle high traffic volumes. I'd recommend trying the website setup approach that Theodore mentioned, and if you do try the app again, maybe attempt it early morning or late evening when there's less traffic on their servers.

I've been lurking in this community for a while but had to create an account to share my experience with this Money Network app nightmare. I went through the EXACT same freezing issue about 2 months ago and it nearly drove me insane! What finally worked for me was a combo of several suggestions I've seen here: First, I set up my account completely through the website on my laptop (thanks to whoever mentioned that - game changer!). Then I made sure to use WiFi instead of cellular data when trying the app. But here's the weird part that I haven't seen mentioned yet - I had to turn off my phone's auto-brightness and set it to manual at about 75% brightness. Apparently some phones have display settings that can interfere with the app's verification process. I know it sounds crazy but after I did that, plus waiting about 15 seconds before hitting continue like someone else suggested, it worked perfectly. The whole ordeal took me about 3 weeks to figure out but now the app runs smoothly. Hang in there everyone - it's frustrating but definitely solvable!

Wow, the brightness setting tip is something I never would have thought of! That's such a random but potentially helpful detail. I'm dealing with this same freezing issue right now and I've tried most of the other suggestions here without luck. Going to try the website setup first, then the app with manual brightness at 75% and see if that combination works for me. It's crazy how many different little technical quirks can interfere with these apps. Thanks for taking the time to share such detailed steps - really appreciate you creating an account just to help others with this frustrating problem!

I just want to say thank you to everyone who's shared their solutions here! I've been struggling with this same Money Network app freezing issue for over a week now and was getting desperate. Reading through all these different approaches gives me hope that I can actually get this resolved. I'm going to try the website setup first approach that Theodore mentioned, combined with the WiFi connection and waiting 15 seconds before hitting continue. If that doesn't work, I'll definitely call their customer service number that Keisha provided. It's really frustrating that such a basic app has so many technical issues, especially when people are depending on it to access their unemployment benefits. But seeing how many people have eventually gotten it working makes me feel more optimistic. Will update if I find success with any of these methods!
