Money Network Card app login issues - can't access EDD benefits for 3 days
I'm completely freaking out right now. My rent is due tomorrow and I can't get into the stupid Money Network app to transfer my EDD benefits to my bank account. It was working fine last week, but since Tuesday it keeps saying 'authentication error' when I try to log in. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, restarting my phone, and even tried logging in through their website instead but I just get a spinning wheel that never loads. I've called the number on the back of my card FIVE times but keep getting disconnected after being on hold for 30+ minutes. Has anyone else had this problem recently? Is there some kind of system outage? I really need to access my funds ASAP!!!

This happened to me last month! The Money Network app is super glitchy. Do you have the physical card? You can always use it directly at an ATM to withdraw cash if you're desperate for rent money. Their customer service is notoriously awful - I got through once after calling at exactly 8:00am when they open.

•I have the card but it has a $1000 daily withdrawal limit and my rent is $1850 :( I'll try calling right when they open tomorrow. Thanks for the suggestion.

•Ugh that makes me even more frustrated. Must be something specific to my account then.

There are several reasons why you might be experiencing this problem with your Money Network card account: 1. The Money Network system undergoes maintenance every Tuesday night from approximately 11PM-3AM PST, which sometimes causes lingering issues into Wednesday. 2. If you've recently changed your password or updated your phone, you may need to completely reset your account access. 3. Some users experience connection problems when their phone's operating system updates. Try these troubleshooting steps: - Clear your browser cache if using the website - Use a different internet connection (switch from wifi to cellular data or vice versa) - Call 1-866-692-9374 (not the number on the card) which is their dedicated tech support line - If you need to speak with an actual EDD representative about your Money Network card issues, I'd recommend using Claimyr (claimyr.com). They have a service that gets you through to an EDD agent without the endless waiting. I used them when my card was locked and they got me through in about 15 minutes. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km

•Thank you so much for this detailed response! I didn't know about the Tuesday maintenance - that actually makes sense since my problems started Wednesday morning. I'll try clearing my cache and calling that tech support number. If that doesn't work I might check out that Claimyr service - at this point I'm desperate to talk to someone who can help.

Just wanted to add that Money Network has been having widespread login issues this week. I work at a job center and we've had at least 8 people come in with the exact same problem since Wednesday. Their tech team is aware of it but they haven't provided an ETA for a fix. For your immediate rent situation - call your landlord TODAY and explain the situation. If you can show proof of your benefits being deposited to the card (screenshot of previous transactions or your award letter), most landlords will work with you for a few days extension. Also, the Money Network card allows you to do bill pay directly from the card without transferring to your bank. If your landlord accepts electronic payments, you might be able to pay directly from your card balance if you can get through to customer service.

•Thank you! I'm actually relieved to hear it's a widespread issue and not just me. I'll call my landlord right away and explain. I didn't know about the direct bill pay feature - that would be amazing if I can get it to work.

•Yeah I tried that too. The website lets me log in but then freezes on the account summary page. So frustrating!

I had a similar issue last month and it drove me INSANE!!! The Money Network system is GARBAGE. EDD needs to go back to direct deposit like every other normal government agency!!! After THREE DAYS of calling I finally got through to someone who told me my account got flagged for "suspicious activity" because I logged in from a different IP address (I was at my sister's house using her wifi). They had to send me a verification code through postal mail which took ANOTHER week to arrive. Meanwhile I had $2700 sitting there I couldn't access!!! Call the fraud department directly at 1-855-279-1678. The regular customer service people couldn't help me AT ALL.

•Oh no, that sounds awful! I did use a public wifi at a coffee shop last week... I wonder if that triggered something similar. I'll try that fraud department number right now. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Hey everyone - just a quick update, I managed to get through to Money Network this morning at 8:05am. The representative confirmed they're having a system issue affecting 'a subset of users' since their Tuesday maintenance. They said it should be resolved by end of day tomorrow (Friday). They're able to help with emergency transactions over the phone if you can verify your identity.

UPDATE: I finally got through using the fraud department number that @angryedd4ever suggested! Turns out my account WAS flagged for suspicious activity because I logged in from the coffee shop. They were able to verify my identity over the phone and reset my access. I'm back in my account now and was able to transfer money for rent. Thanks everyone for your help!!!

•Great news! Glad you got it resolved. This happens more often than people realize - the Money Network fraud detection is overly sensitive. For future reference, always use private networks for EDD/Money Network access when possible.

Wow, this whole thread is incredibly helpful! I'm dealing with a similar situation right now - my Money Network app has been giving me errors for the past two days and I was starting to panic. Reading through everyone's experiences and solutions gives me hope that I can get this resolved. It's frustrating that EDD uses such a glitchy system, but at least there's a community here to help each other out. Going to try calling that fraud department number first thing tomorrow morning. Thanks to everyone who shared their stories and solutions!
