Money Network card portal completely down - can't access my EDD benefits
Is anyone else having trouble accessing their funds through the Money Network website and app? I've been trying for 5 days straight and keep getting locked out. The system says my password is incorrect, but when I try to reset it, the reset link never arrives in my email. I have $1,870 sitting on my card that I desperately need for rent due next week! I called their customer service line and waited 96 minutes only to speak with someone who literally read me the FAQ from their website and then suggested I "try again tomorrow" - are you kidding me?? I asked to speak to a supervisor and got disconnected. I'm about to drive to the nearest ATM and just withdraw everything before this system crashes again. Has EDD always used such a terrible payment provider? I swear they must've hired their cousin's tech startup or something.

This happens every few months with Money Network, it's absolutely ridiculous. Their system "maintenance" always breaks something. Here's what fixed it for me last time: 1. Use a desktop computer (not your phone) 2. Clear ALL browser cookies and cache 3. Use Chrome or Firefox (not Safari) 4. Try accessing between 6-8am when server load is lower 5. If it still doesn't work, request a temporary access code via phone The temporary code option is buried in their phone menu. Call 1-866-898-2213, press 1, then 3, then 2, and specifically say "I need a temporary access code" when prompted.

•Thank you so much! I'll try these steps first thing tomorrow morning. I never thought about the time of day affecting it, but that makes sense. Really appreciate the detailed instructions - especially that phone tree sequence. Those automated systems are the worst.

•It's so frustrating! Have you been able to reach anyone helpful on the phone? I'm starting to worry they've lost our account information or something worse.

The Money Network issues seem to be affecting a lot of claimants right now. I've been helping my brother with his claim, and we discovered something important: you need to call very early in the morning to get through to their tier 2 support (not the regular agents). For anyone dealing with this, I highly recommend using Claimyr (claimyr.com) to connect with actual helpful agents. My brother was dealing with this exact issue last week, and after trying for days himself, he used their service and got connected to a Money Network specialist in about 15 minutes. They have a video showing how it works here: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km The specialist confirmed there's an ongoing system issue affecting accounts created in the last 6 months, and they manually verified his identity and issued a temporary card suspension lift.

•Is this legit? Never heard of Claimyr before and I'm skeptical of any service related to EDD... don't want my information stolen when I'm already dealing with access problems.

•That's both hilarious and infuriating! At least your call didn't randomly disconnect after waiting an hour like mine did 🙄

There is actually a known system-wide issue with the Money Network platform this week affecting California EDD cardholders specifically. I work in financial tech (not for Money Network) and our company got an industry alert about it. The issue is related to their recent security certificate update that's causing authentication failures. It's not just you - their entire California cardholder database is experiencing intermittent access problems. Two things I can recommend: 1. If you absolutely need funds now, you can go to any bank that displays the Visa logo and do a cash advance with your physical card and ID (there's a daily limit though) 2. EDD is aware of the issue and has temporarily extended the direct deposit option to more users as a workaround If you log into UI Online (not Money Network), you should see a banner about this with instructions for setting up direct deposit as an alternative until they fix the card system.

•This is incredibly helpful information - thank you! I'll try the cash advance option tomorrow since my rent is due soon. I didn't know you could do that at any Visa-affiliated bank. I'll also check for that banner in UI Online about direct deposit. That would be so much better than dealing with this card nightmare.

Quick update for everyone - I just checked and it appears the Money Network system is working again as of this morning. I was able to log in and transfer funds without any issues. Might want to try again now!

•IT WORKS!!! I just logged in and everything is back to normal. Thanks everyone for your help and commiseration during this nightmare. I'm going to set up direct deposit immediately so I don't have to deal with Money Network again.

Glad to hear it's working again! This whole situation really highlights how unreliable Money Network can be. For anyone reading this in the future - definitely set up direct deposit as your backup. I learned the hard way that you can't rely on these third-party payment cards when you actually need your money. The cash advance tip from @Nina was a lifesaver for emergency situations too. Hopefully EDD considers switching to a more reliable payment provider eventually.

•Absolutely agree about setting up direct deposit! I'm new to this whole EDD process and had no idea Money Network was so unreliable. This thread has been super helpful - I'm definitely going to set up direct deposit right away instead of waiting for problems to happen. Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences and solutions, especially the cash advance tip and the early morning calling advice. It's so frustrating that we have to deal with these technical issues when we're already stressed about finances.

As someone who just went through this exact same nightmare last month, I feel your pain! The Money Network system seems to have these major outages every few months and it's absolutely unacceptable when people are depending on these funds for basic necessities. One thing that worked for me when I couldn't access the website or app was calling their automated phone system at 1-866-692-9374 and using the "card balance and recent transactions" option. You can actually transfer funds to another account through that phone system even when the website is down. It's not ideal but it's a workaround. Also, if you have any check-cashing places near you (like Check Into Cash or similar), many of them will do cash advances on prepaid debit cards for a small fee. It's not cheap but when you need rent money immediately, it might be worth it. Really hoping they get this fixed soon for everyone still dealing with it. The stress of not being able to access your own money is just awful.

•Thank you for sharing that phone number and the cash advance tip! I had no idea you could do transfers through their automated phone system - that's actually brilliant. I'm definitely going to save that number for future emergencies. The check-cashing place option is good to know too, even if there's a fee involved. Sometimes you just need access to your own money regardless of the cost. It's ridiculous that we have to jump through all these hoops just to get our benefits, but I really appreciate everyone sharing their workarounds and solutions. This community has been more helpful than Money Network's actual customer service!

Just wanted to chime in as someone who's been dealing with EDD for over a year - Money Network outages are unfortunately pretty common, but this one seemed particularly bad. I'm glad to see it's working again for most people! For anyone new to this system, here are a few things I've learned the hard way: 1. Always set up direct deposit as your primary method if possible - it's so much more reliable 2. Keep that automated phone line number handy (thanks @Giovanni for sharing it!) 3. Take screenshots of your account balance and recent transactions when the system IS working, just in case you need proof later 4. Never rely on Money Network's email notifications - they're often delayed or don't come at all It's frustrating that we have to become experts at navigating a broken system just to access our own benefits, but at least this community helps us share solutions. Hopefully EDD will eventually switch to a better payment provider, but until then, having multiple backup plans is essential. Stay strong everyone - we shouldn't have to deal with this stress on top of everything else, but we're all in it together! 💪

•This is such solid advice, thank you! I'm completely new to EDD and had no idea about any of these backup strategies. The screenshot tip is especially smart - I never would have thought of that but it makes total sense given how unreliable their system seems to be. I'm definitely going to set up direct deposit ASAP after reading about everyone's experiences here. It's crazy that we need to have so many workarounds just to access our benefits, but I'm really grateful for this community sharing all these tips. Makes me feel less alone in dealing with this mess!

Wow, reading through all these experiences really shows how widespread this Money Network issue is! I'm currently dealing with the same problem - been locked out for 3 days now and getting nowhere with customer service. @Isaac your step-by-step troubleshooting guide is incredibly helpful, especially the tip about calling early morning for the temporary access code. I'm going to try that tomorrow at 6am sharp. @Nina thank you for the industry insight about the security certificate issue - that actually explains a lot about why their "try again later" advice wasn't working. The cash advance option is something I never considered but might be necessary if this drags on. It's both comforting and infuriating to know this isn't just a "me" problem. Really appreciate everyone sharing their workarounds and solutions. I'm definitely setting up direct deposit the moment I can get back into my account. No more relying on this unreliable card system! Has anyone heard anything official from EDD about when this will be fully resolved? Or are we just supposed to keep trying these workarounds indefinitely?

•I haven't seen any official timeline from EDD unfortunately, but based on what @Ruby mentioned about her sister's info, it sounds like they were targeting Friday for completion of their database migration. Since some people are reporting it's working again, maybe they're making progress? I'm in the same boat as you - going to try @Isaac's early morning call strategy tomorrow. The temporary access code option sounds like our best bet if the website is still acting up. It's so frustrating that we have to become detectives just to access our own money! Definitely agree about switching to direct deposit ASAP. After reading everyone's experiences here, it's clear that Money Network outages are a regular thing, not a one-time issue. We shouldn't have to stress about whether we can pay rent because of their technical problems.

I'm dealing with this exact same issue right now! Been locked out since Wednesday and it's beyond frustrating. My certification was due yesterday and I can't even check if my payment went through because of this Money Network mess. Really appreciate everyone sharing their solutions here - I had no idea about the early morning calling trick or the automated phone transfer option. Going to try calling at 6am tomorrow with that phone tree sequence @Isaac shared. The fact that this happens "every few months" according to multiple people here is absolutely unacceptable. We're already stressed about finances and job searching, and then we can't even access the benefits we're entitled to? It's like they picked the most unreliable payment system possible. @Nina thanks for explaining the technical side - at least now I know it's a widespread issue and not something wrong with my specific account. Still doesn't make it less infuriating though! Definitely switching to direct deposit the second I can get back in.

hello I got a job that pays us through this, except it won't let me create an account, money network I mean, and I'm kinda loss in what to do now, I've tried safari, chrome, Firefox, on my phone, iPad and computer and it always sends me back to the home page on step 2 while saying this message "Some or all information provided is not correct. Please enter valid information and retry.

•Hey @Darius, that sounds like a different but related Money Network issue! Since you're trying to create a new account (rather than access an existing EDD one), you might be running into their recent security certificate problems that @Nina mentioned earlier. A few things to try based on what's worked for others here: 1. Clear all your browser cookies and cache completely before trying again 2. Try between 6-8am when their servers have less traffic 3. Make sure you're entering your info EXACTLY as it appears on any paperwork your employer gave you (including spacing and capitalization) 4. If it's still not working, your employer's HR department might need to contact Money Network directly to set up your account on their end first The "not correct information" error often happens when there's a mismatch between what your employer submitted and what you're entering. Definitely worth calling your HR department if the technical fixes don't work!

I'm going through this exact same nightmare right now! Been locked out of Money Network since Monday and I'm getting desperate. My rent was due yesterday and I have over $2,000 sitting on that card that I can't touch. I've tried everything - different browsers, clearing cache, calling customer service (waste of time), even went to an ATM but it kept saying "transaction declined" even though I know there's money on there. This thread has been incredibly helpful though! I had no idea about the early morning calling strategy or the temporary access code option. Definitely trying @Isaac's phone tree instructions first thing tomorrow at 6am. And @Nina, thank you for explaining the technical side - at least now I know this is a system-wide issue and not just me going crazy. The cash advance option might be my only choice at this point since my landlord is already texting me about late fees. It's absolutely ridiculous that we have to jump through all these hoops just to access our own benefits. As soon as I can get back in, I'm switching to direct deposit immediately. Never dealing with Money Network again if I can help it!

•@Emma I'm so sorry you're dealing with this stress on top of rent being due! That ATM decline issue sounds really concerning - sometimes when their system is having problems, it can affect card transactions too, not just online access. If the early morning calling doesn't work tomorrow, definitely try that cash advance option that several people mentioned. I know it's not ideal with the fees, but getting your rent paid is the priority right now. Also, if you have a bank account elsewhere, some banks will do emergency cash advances even if you're not a regular customer - might be worth calling around. Really hoping @Isaac's phone tree trick works for you! And once you get back in, that direct deposit switch is going to be such a relief. It's crazy that we all have to become Money Network troubleshooting experts just to survive. Sending good vibes that this gets resolved for you soon! 🤞
