EDD UI Online login issues today - anyone else locked out?

Is anyone else having trouble logging into their UI Online account this morning? I've been trying since 7am and keep getting the 'We are experiencing high volume' message followed by a timeout. I've tried different browsers (Chrome, Edge, even my phone) but nothing works. My rent is due in 3 days and I NEED to certify for benefits! Anyone know if the system is down or what's going on?

Thanks for confirming I'm not the only one! Did you get any specific error message or just the general timeout?

This happens toward the end of every month when everyone's trying to certify at once. The system gets overloaded. Try logging in very early (like 5am) or late at night (after 10pm) when fewer people are on. Also, make sure you're using the direct link: https://portal.edd.ca.gov/WebApp/Login?resource_url=https://portal.edd.ca.gov/WebApp/Home rather than going through the main EDD website.

That makes sense about the end of month traffic. I'll try later tonight. Thanks for the direct link too - didn't know that was an option!

I'm having the same issue but with a twist - I can log in but then it immediately logs me out when I try to access my homepage. Called EDD 14 times today and can't get through. Their automated system says there's a 'temporary service interruption' but it's been like this for 2 days now. Stressing me out!!!

Same thing happened to me last month. Turned out I needed to clear my browser cookies and cache. When's the last time you tried that? Sometimes their system updates don't play nice with stored cookies.

Just tried clearing cache and cookies - still having the same problem. This is so frustrating when you need to certify and can't get in!

There's actually a scheduled maintenance period happening right now according to the EDD Twitter account. They posted yesterday that UI Online would have 'intermittent availability' from April 26-28 due to system updates. They recommend trying again after 2pm tomorrow when the maintenance should be complete. Here's the link to their announcement: https://twitter.com/CA_EDD/status/1651247389542

Thank you! I don't use Twitter so I completely missed this announcement. Wish they'd put these notices more prominently on their website.

If you absolutely need to get through to an EDD representative, I recently discovered a service called Claimyr that helped me reach an agent when I was having a similar login issue last month. They basically call EDD for you and then connect you once they get through. Saved me hours of frustration. Their site is claimyr.com and they have a video demo at https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km that shows how it works. I was skeptical at first but it actually worked for me when I couldn't get my benefits processed.

Yes, it worked for me. I got connected to an agent in about 30 minutes versus the days I spent trying on my own.

Just to add some context here - EDD sometimes has these login issues when they're updating their fraud prevention systems. After that big fraud scandal in 2021-2022 they're constantly tweaking security. That's why sometimes you can get in and sometimes you can't. The good news is that if you miss your certification window because of THEIR technical issues, you can call and explain and they'll usually allow a late certification without penalty.

That's really good to know about the late certification exception! Definitely puts my mind at ease a bit.

UPDATE: I just managed to log in! Seems like the system might be coming back up. Try again now everyone!

I've been dealing with similar login issues for the past few days too. What's really frustrating is that EDD doesn't seem to have a reliable way to notify users when these outages happen - I had to find out about the maintenance from this thread! For anyone still having trouble, I've found that using an incognito/private browser window sometimes helps, and also trying the mobile app instead of the website. The app seems to handle the server load a bit better sometimes. Really hope they get their system stability sorted out soon because this happens way too often.
