EDD Claim Filed 2 Weeks Ago - No Response Yet. Normal Wait Time?
I filed my unemployment claim on June 12th and haven't received any letters or notices from EDD yet. It's been a couple weeks now and I'm getting worried. Has anyone else experienced this? How long does it usually take to hear back from them? I'm not sure if I should call or just keep waiting.

Two weeks isn't too bad yet, but I'd recommend calling if you don't hear anything by the end of the third week. The squeaky wheel gets the grease with EDD, trust me.

ā¢Calling EDD? LOL good luck with that. I spent 3 days trying to get through. It's like winning the lottery š°

ā¢Agreed. Don't wait too long to call. The earlier you catch any issues, the better.

ā¢Yeah, calling can be a pain, but it's worth it if you're persistent. I got through eventually!

ā¢It's true that calling can be frustrating, especially with long wait times, but if you can afford the time, it might save you from a bigger headache later.

Have you checked your UI Online account? Sometimes they post updates there before sending out letters. Might be worth taking a look if you haven't already.

ā¢Oh, I didn't even think of that. Thanks for the tip! I'll go check it out now.

ā¢Good advice! UI Online saved my butt when I was waiting for info. It's not perfect, but it's something š¤·āāļø

ā¢Checking the UI Online is crucial, especially in these times. It can give you a heads-up on any issues or actions needed on your part. Always better to be informed!

Here's what you need to know about EDD timelines and what to expect: ā¢ Initial processing time: Usually 2-3 weeks, but can take up to 4-6 weeks during busy periods. ā¢ First payment: If approved, typically within 7-10 days after claim is processed. ā¢ Identity verification: If required, can add 2-4 weeks to the process. ā¢ Appeals: If denied, you have 30 days to appeal. Appeals can take 30-60 days to resolve. Key things to do: 1. Check your UI Online account regularly 2. Make sure all info on your application is correct 3. Respond promptly to any requests for additional info 4. If you don't hear anything after 3 weeks, start calling Remember, patience is key, but don't be afraid to be proactive. Good luck!

ā¢This breakdown should be on the EDD website! It's more comprehensive than anything they provide. Thanks for compiling this.

If you're still waiting on your unemployment claim and considering using a service like Claimyr, there are a few things to keep in mind. Claimyr offers a unique service that could save you a lot of time and frustration by navigating EDD's phone system for you. However, it's a paid service at $20, which might not be affordable for everyone. It's useful in cases where time is more valuable than the service's cost due to urgent financial needs. On the other hand, traditional methods like calling during off-peak hours or checking UI Online should always be attempted first as they are free. Always ensure that your claim isn't held up by issues like ID verification, which can often be resolved by directly communicating with EDD. In any case, staying informed and proactive will help you navigate this process more effectively. It's also beneficial to share any successful strategies within community forums like this, so everyone can benefit from collective knowledge.

Have you checked if your claim is stuck in ID verification? That held mine up for weeks and I had no idea until I finally got through to someone.

ā¢How do I check for that? Is it something I can see in my UI Online account?

ā¢Unfortunately, it's not always clear in UI Online. You might see a message about pending verification, but sometimes you have to call to find out. It's a pain, I know.

ā¢ID verification can be a silent hold up. Ensuring your documents and info are in order can speed up this process if that's the issue.

Ugh, welcome to EDD hell. I filed mine back in May and didn't hear anything for over a month. It's frustrating but unfortunately pretty common. Hang in there!

Anyone else notice that EDD's website is always "down for maintenance" when you actually need to use it? š It's like they're trolling us at this point.

ā¢Yes! It's so frustrating when you need to access the site for updates and it's down. It almost feels like they are trying to avoid us.

have you tried faxing your claim? I know it sounds old school, but I've heard some people have had success with that method. Might be worth a shot š¤·āāļø

ā¢It's interesting how sometimes older methods like faxing can cut through the clutter when digital avenues are overwhelmed. It's always good to have multiple strategies.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. (https://claimyr.com

ā¢$20 just to talk to EDD? That's highway robbery! š¤¬

ā¢I get the skepticism, but it's totally legit. I was desperate after trying for weeks and it actually worked. Saved me hours of frustration.

ā¢How does it work exactly? Do they give you a specific time for the call?

Dylan Cooper
ā¢@profile 13 Yeah, you schedule a time slot. They call the EDD, navigate the menu, and wait on hold. When an agent picks up, they forward the call to your phone. It's pretty slick.

ā¢While Claimyr might be convenient, it's always wise to weigh the cost versus the benefit. For some, it might be worth it, especially if EDD communication delays are affecting finances.

Pro tip: if you do end up calling, try right when they open or about an hour before they close. Those times seem to have shorter wait times in my experience.

ā¢Great tip! Timing can make all the difference in cutting down on wait times. It's little tricks like these that can save a lot of frustration.
