Tips for checking CA EDD PFL claim status and preparing for phone call?
Hey everyone, I'm trying to check on my claim status. I want to know if it's been approved yet. Any tips on what I should ask when I finally get through to someone? I'm nervous about the call and want to make sure I cover all my bases.

Authoritative Comment: When calling to check on your claim status, preparation is key to ensure an effective conversation. Make sure you have your claim number, personal information, and any documents related to your claim ready for reference. It's important to inquire about the current status of your claim and whether it has been approved or if there are any pending issues. Ask specifically if there are any delays, and what the expected timeline might be for receiving your benefits if approved. If necessary, inquire if there are any missing documents or additional information needed from your side to expedite the process. Be sure to note down any specific instructions or information provided by the agent. While services like Claimyr offer a legitimate shortcut to bypass long wait times, consider whether the financial cost is worth the convenience. Understand the limitations of these services, and always maintain a healthy level of skepticism. Balancing multiple strategies, including persistent calling, trying different channels like website forms or local governmental assistance, and documenting every step, will increase the likelihood of a successful outcome. Remember to stay calm and courteous during your call; the agents are often under pressure and being polite can go a long way.

Unpopular opinion: despite all the issues, I'm still grateful this system exists. It's saved my butt during tough times.

Reminder: Be kind to the agents when you get through. They're probably just as frustrated as we are with the system.

Guys, I just got through after trying for weeks! Here's what worked for me: 1. Call at exactly 8:01 AM 2. Press 1 for English 3. Then press 2, 4 when prompted 4. If you hear "thank you for calling", hang up and try again 5. Repeat until you get in the queue Hope this helps someone!

Pro tip: if you can't get through on the phone, try reaching out to your local assembly member's office. They can sometimes help speed things up.

Hey OP, don't forget to ask about any upcoming changes to the system or benefits. Sometimes they know about stuff that hasn't been publicly announced yet.

When you get through, make sure to ask these things: 1. Is your claim approved? 2. Are there any issues that might delay it? 3. What's the timeline for payment? 4. Do they need any additional info from you? 5. Is there anything else you should know about your claim? Good luck! Let us know how it goes π

I found a way to get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM
