Tips for checking claim status? What to have ready for EDD call

Hey everyone, I just placed an order to check the status of my claim. I'm waiting for the call to come through now. Anyone have experience with this? What should I have ready when they call? I'm a bit nervous and want to make sure I don't forget anything important.

I found a way to solve long unemployment claim hold times, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KhXxq1KpQq0

Make sure you have your claim number and any relevant dates handy. They'll probably ask when you filed and if there have been any updates since then. Good luck!

Thanks for the tip! I'll dig up those dates now. Fingers crossed it goes smoothly 🤞

Also, write down any specific questions you have beforehand. It's easy to forget stuff when you're on the spot!

That's a great idea! I always get flustered on these calls. I'll make a list right now.

Ugh, good luck. I've been trying to get through for weeks. The hold times are insane!

Same here. I swear they're purposely making it difficult. 🙄

Have you guys tried calling right when they open? I had better luck that way.

Tried that, still no luck. It's like playing the lottery at this point.

I found a way to get someone on the phone without the crazy wait times. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken.

I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration.

How long did it take for them to call you back?

It took about 2 hours for me, but I've heard it can vary. Still better than being stuck on hold all day!

Pro tip: If you get a unhelpful agent, politely ask to speak with a tier 2 specialist. They often have more authority to actually resolve issues.

Anyone else feel like they're drowning in paperwork? I swear I've sent the same documents like 5 times now. 😫

OMG yes! I started keeping a log of everything I send, with dates and confirmation numbers. It's ridiculous we have to do this.

Pro tip: scan everything and keep digital copies. Makes it easier to resend when they inevitably 'lose' your docs again.

Hey OP, don't forget to ask about any potential overpayments or underpayments. I got blindsided by that and it was a whole other headache to deal with.

Oh man, I didn't even think about that. Thanks for the heads up!

Honestly, at this point, I'm convinced the whole system is designed to make us give up. Stay strong, everyone. We're all in this sinking ship together. 🚢

Preach! 🙌 It's like they're playing whack-a-mole with our claims.

I feel ya. But don't give up! That's exactly what they want. Keep fighting for what you're owed!
