EDD callback prep: What to ask about claim status with no recent notices?
Hey everyone, I just got a call back from EDD and I'm not sure what to expect. I don't have any recent letters or notices from them about my claim status. What should I ask the agent when I talk to them? I'm kinda nervous and don't want to forget anything important.

Make sure to write down everything they tell you! These calls can be overwhelming and its easy to forget important details. Good luck!

Am I the only one who thinks its ridiculous that we have to jump through so many hoops just to get basic info about our claims? The system is broken af π€

The bureaucracy is definitely frustrating. It's a systemic issue that needs addressing.

Has anyone else noticed that the info you get changes depending on who you talk to? Its like playing unemployment roulette π°

omg yes! I thought I was going crazy. One agent tells me one thing, another says something completely different. Make it make sense! π€―

This is why I always ask for everything in writing now. Can't trust what they say over the phone anymore.

So true. Consistency is lacking and itβs confusing for claimants.

Hey OP, one more thing to consider is having relevant documents and your claim information ready before the call. It's always better to be prepared!

Remember to stay calm and be polite, even if the agent isn't helpful. They're probably dealing with a ton of frustrated people all day.

Anyone else feel like they need a degree in bureaucracy just to navigate this system? ππ€¦ββοΈ

For real! I spend more time trying to understand EDD than I did studying for my actual degree π

I've been waiting for a callback for 3 weeks now. This whole system is a joke. Anyone know if contacting our local representatives actually helps?

It can! I reached out to my state assembly member and their office was able to escalate my case. Took about 2 weeks, but it worked.

Tried that. Got a generic response and nothing else. YMMV I guess π

Pro tip: ask for the agents name and ID number at the beginning of the call. It helps if you need to reference the conversation later.

Ugh, EDD is such a nightmare to deal with. I've been trying to get through for weeks. How did you even manage to get a callback?

I actually used this site called claimyr.com. It's a calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, and then sends the call to your phone when an agent picks up. It costs $20, but it saved me hours of frustration.

I've used it before. It works, but yeah, 20 bucks is steep. Still beats wasting a whole day on hold tho π€·ββοΈ

Here's a wild idea: what if we all showed up at the EDD office in person? They can't ignore us then, right? π€

As much as it sounds like a protest, COVID restrictions might make it impractical.

Hey OP, don't forget to ask about any upcoming certification dates! Those sneek up on you and missing one can really mess things up.

Authoritative Comment: Having an EDD callback can be both a relief and a source of anxiety, but preparation is key to a successful conversation. First, make sure you have your claim number, personal identification information, and any correspondence you've received from EDD. When speaking with the agent, ask about the current status of your claim, any pending issues or required documents, and the timeline for processing. Additionally, inquire about upcoming certification dates and any necessary actions on your part. While Claimyr is a useful tool for bypassing long wait times, it is a paid service, so weigh the cost against the potential time saved. Remember, EDD agents are often overwhelmed, so patience and politeness go a long way in ensuring a productive call. If you're not satisfied with the answers provided, consider following up in writing or contacting your local representatives for assistance. Balance your reliance on paid services like Claimyr with other strategies such as using online resources, calling during off-peak hours, or seeking community support. Stay organized, keep detailed records of all communications, and remain proactive throughout the process to effectively manage your claim.

Don't sweat it, we've all been there! Here's what you should ask: 1. Current status of your claim 2. Any pending issues or missing documents 3. When you can expect your next payment (if applicable) 4. Any upcoming deadlines or actions you need to take Good luck and let us know how it goes!
