PFL claim submitted over a month ago, no response from EDD. Anyone else experiencing delays?
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle here. I submitted my paperwork for paid family leave over a month ago, including the hospital birth verification. I took 3 weeks off work for the birth of my child, but I still haven't heard anything back. Is anyone else experiencing long delays with their PFL claims? It's getting frustrating not knowing what's going on.

Ugh, I feel your pain! I went through the same thing last year. It took them almost 2 months to process my claim. The system is so backed up its ridiculous. Hang in there!

•2 months?! That's insane. Did you end up getting all the money you were owed?

•Yeah, I did eventually get everything. But it was a real struggle financially while waiting. Had to borrow money from family to make ends meet. 😓

•This is why the system is broken. People shouldnt have to struggle when theyre already dealing with a newborn. smh

Have you tried calling them? Sometimes that can speed things up a bit. Be prepared to wait on hold for hours tho lol

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone without waiting for hours. I used this site called claimyr.com. It's a calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, and then sends the call to your phone when a live agent picks up. It costs $20, but it worked for me. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

•Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

•I was skeptical at first too, but it really did work for me. Saved me hours of frustration.

•$20 to actually talk to a human? might be worth it at this point 🤔

Pro tip: keep ALL your documentation. Make copies of everything you send them. You never know when theyll claim they didnt receive something. CYA always!

I work in HR and deal with this stuff all the time. Here's what you need to know: 1. Processing times can vary wildly depending on workload and staffing. 2. Make sure you've completed Form DE 2501F correctly. Any errors can cause major delays. 3. Double-check that your employer submitted their portion (DE 2502) on time. 4. If it's been over 6 weeks, you can file for an appeal. 5. Keep a log of all your attempts to contact them. 6. Consider reaching out to your local state representative's office. They can sometimes help expedite things. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

I'm in the exact same boat, man. Filed 5 weeks ago, radio silence. This system is a joke. 🤡

Congrats on the new baby! 🎉 Try not to stress too much about the claim (easier said than done, I know). Focus on enjoying this time with your little one. The money will come eventually.

•Thank you! You're right, I should try to enjoy this time more. It's just hard not to worry about the finances.

I'm going through something similar right now! Filed my PFL claim 6 weeks ago for bonding time with my adopted daughter and still waiting. What's really frustrating is that bills don't stop coming just because EDD is slow. I've been checking the online portal obsessively but no updates there either. Has anyone had luck with contacting their local assembly member's office? I've heard they can sometimes help push things along when you're dealing with state agencies.
