PFL claim stuck in 'pending processing' for weeks after SDI - need help!

Hey everyone, I'm having some issues with my disability claim. I just finished my 6-week postpartum disability and submitted the paperwork to start my Paid Family Leave. It's been weeks now, and the claim is still showing as 'pending processing'. I really need this to go through so I can get paid. Has anyone else experienced delays like this? Any advice on how to speed things up?

I found a way to solve disability claim processing delays, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EhUXN0ERZbE

Ugh, I feel your pain! I went through something similar last year. The system is so slow sometimes, it's ridiculous. Have you tried calling them? That's what finally worked for me.

I've been trying to call, but I can never get through. It's so frustrating! How long did you have to wait on hold?

Honestly, it took FOREVER. I think I was on hold for like 3 hours before I finally got to talk to someone. But it was worth it in the end. Just make sure you have plenty of time and maybe a good book or some Netflix ready lol

3 hours?! That's insane. There's gotta be a better way. Has anyone tried emailing them instead?

I had a similar issue and found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Wow, that sounds too good to be true. Does it really work? How long did you have to wait?

It really does work! I was skeptical at first too, but I was desperate. I only had to wait about 30 minutes before I got connected to an agent. Totally worth the $20 for me.

Idk man, paying to get customer service seems kinda sketchy. Shouldn't this be free?

I get where you're coming from, but for me, time is money. I'd rather pay $20 than waste hours on hold. Plus, it's a third-party service, not the government charging extra.

Have you checked your online account? Sometimes there are updates or requests for additional information that they don't tell you about. It's worth double-checking!

This is why the system is broken. They make it so hard for people who actually need help. It's like they want us to give up. 🤬

Preach! šŸ‘ The whole thing needs an overhaul. It's 2023, why can't they have a decent online system?

Hey there, I work in HR and deal with this stuff a lot. Here's what I'd recommend: • Double-check all your paperwork. Make sure everything is filled out correctly and you haven't missed any signatures. • If you haven't already, create an online account and check for any messages or requests for additional info. • Try calling first thing in the morning when they open. That's usually when hold times are shortest. • If you can't get through by phone, try sending a secure message through your online account. • As a last resort, you might consider contacting your local state representative's office. They sometimes can help expedite these issues. Remember, the transition from SDI to PFL can sometimes cause delays. It's frustrating, but hang in there! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thank you so much for this detailed response! I'll definitely try calling first thing tomorrow morning. Do you know what time they usually open?

Most offices open at 8 AM local time, but it can vary. I'd recommend checking their website for the most up-to-date hours. Good luck!

lol welcome to bureaucracy hell 😈 where everything's made up and the timeframes don't matter

Have you considered reaching out to your employer? Sometimes they can help push things along, especially if it's a larger company with dedicated HR staff.

That's a good idea, I hadn't thought of that. I'll give my HR department a call tomorrow. Thanks!
