PFL claim still processing after 4 weeks - new mom needs advice

Hey everyone, I'm a new mom and I've been waiting for my Paid Family Leave claim to be processed for over 4 weeks now. It's getting really frustrating. Has anyone else experienced such long delays? I'm starting to worry about how I'll manage financially if this keeps dragging on. Any advice on what I should do or ask when I finally get through to someone?

Ugh, I feel your pain! I went through the same thing last year. It's ridiculous how long they make us wait. Have you tried calling them? Be prepared to spend hours on hold tho 🙄

I've tried calling a few times but always get the 'call volume too high' message. It's so frustrating! How long did yours take to process in the end?

Mine took about 6 weeks total. It was a nightmare. Keep trying to call, sometimes early morning works better. Hang in there, mama! 💪

6 weeks?! That's insane. The system is so broken, new parents shouldn't have to deal with this stress 😤

Here's what you should ask when you get through: 1. What's causing the delay? 2. Is any information missing from your application? 3. Can they give you an estimated timeframe? 4. Is there anything you can do to speed up the process? 5. Ask for a supervisor if you're not getting clear answers Hope this helps! Good luck!

Thank you so much! This is really helpful. I'll definitely use these questions when I finally get through to someone.

Great list! I'd add: ask if theres a way to expedite the claim due to financial hardship. Sometimes they have options for that.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this? kinda skeptical about paying for something like that tbh

I get the skepticism, but it seriously worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo

How long did you have to wait after using the service? Did they actually connect you to a real person?

Yeah, it took about 2 hours but I just went about my day and got a call when an agent was on the line. Way better than being stuck to my phone all day!

have you checked your online account? sometimes they update the status there before they actually contact you. might give you some peace of mind

This is why we need better parental leave policies in this country. Other developed nations don't put new parents through this kind of stress. It's shameful. 😤

Preach! 🙌 We're so behind on this. New parents have enough to worry about without fighting bureaucracy

Totally agree. We should be supporting families, not making their lives harder. Time for a change!

That's a great idea, I hadn't thought of that. I'll reach out to HR tomorrow. Thanks!

Oof, been there done that. The waiting game is the worst. Just keep calling and documenting everything. And don't forget to breathe and enjoy your little one. This too shall pass. ❤️
