PFL application vanished after 35+ days of waiting - no updates, can't reach EDD. Help!
Has anyone else had their paid family leave application disappear after waiting for over a month? I applied over 35 days ago and heard nothing. Then suddenly, my application vanished from the system - it's not even showing as pending anymore. I've reapplied, but still radio silence. I've called multiple times, but the online system shows no updates. This is so frustrating! Anyone know what's going on or how to get some answers?

Ugh, I'm in the same boat! Applied for PFL 6 weeks ago and it's like my application went into a black hole. No updates, no responses, nada. The system is totally broken 🤬

•Calling is a joke. I've tried like 50 times and can never get through. It's like they don't want us to reach them 🙄

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

•Sounds too good to be true. Are you sure it's legit?

•Yeah, I was skeptical at first too, but I tried it and it actually worked. Got through to an agent in about an hour.

•20 bucks tho? That's kinda steep just to talk to someone who should be available for free 🤔

•I get it, but for me it was worth it. I was going crazy trying to get through on my own. Sometimes you gotta pay to save your sanity lol

Here's what I've learned after dealing with this mess for months: 1. Keep ALL your documents. Scan everything. 2. Call first thing in the morning, right when they open. 3. If you get through, ask for a callback number or direct extension. 4. File an appeal if your application disappears or gets denied. 5. Contact your local state representative. They can sometimes help. 6. Join Facebook groups for PFL applicants. Lots of good info there. 7. Be persistent. It sucks, but don't give up. Hope this helps someone. The system is a dumpster fire, but we gotta keep fighting 💪

•Wow, thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely try calling early tomorrow. Did contacting your rep actually help?

•Yeah, it did! My rep's office got back to me within a week and helped escalate my case. Def worth a shot.

Has anyone tried faxing their application? I heard from a friend that sometimes that works better than online submission. Might be worth a shot?

•Faxing? What year is it, 1995? 😂 But for real, if it works, I'm willing to try anything at this point.

Pro tip: if you can't get through on the main line, try calling your local EDD office directly. Google 'EDD office near me' and you might find a direct number. Worked for me!

This is such a nightmare! I'm dealing with something similar - my PFL application has been "under review" for 6 weeks now with zero communication. What's really frustrating is that we NEED these benefits and they're just making us jump through impossible hoops. I'm going to try calling the local EDD office like @Alberto Souchard suggested - fingers crossed! Also thinking about reaching out to my state rep. We shouldn't have to fight this hard for benefits we're entitled to. Stay strong everyone, we'll get through this mess! 💪

•@Maya Patel I totally feel your frustration! 6 weeks is absolutely ridiculous. I m'new to this community but going through the exact same thing with my application. It s'mind-boggling that they can just leave us hanging like this when we re'dealing with family emergencies and need these benefits. Definitely try the local EDD office route - seems like that s'been working for some people here. Keep us posted on how it goes! We re'all in this together 🤝

This whole situation is absolutely maddening! I'm new here but unfortunately not new to EDD nightmares. My PFL application disappeared after 3 weeks - one day it was there, the next day it was gone like it never existed. When I called (after literally 100+ attempts), they told me there was a "system glitch" and I had to reapply from scratch. No apologies, no explanations, just "reapply." It's been another 2 weeks since then with zero updates. What really gets me is that we're dealing with serious family situations that require our attention, yet we have to spend hours every day fighting just to get basic information about our own applications. The stress is unreal. Thanks to everyone sharing tips here - I'm going to try the local EDD office route and see if my rep can help. We shouldn't have to become detectives just to access our own benefits! 😤

•@Justin Trejo I m'so sorry you re'going through this too! A system "glitch that" makes you start over from scratch is absolutely unacceptable. That s'weeks of your life and stress you can t'get back. I m'also new to this community but unfortunately dealing with a similar vanishing act with my application. It s'infuriating that they treat us like we re'asking for handouts when these are benefits we ve'paid into! The fact that we all have to become EDD experts just to navigate their broken system is ridiculous. Definitely try reaching out to your state rep - from what I m'reading here, that seems to actually get results. Hang in there, and thanks for sharing your experience. It helps to know we re'not alone in this mess! 🙏

I'm brand new to this community but sadly not new to EDD frustrations. My PFL application has been stuck in limbo for 4 weeks now with absolutely no movement or communication. Reading through all your experiences here is both heartbreaking and oddly comforting - at least I know I'm not going crazy! The most frustrating part is that we're all dealing with legitimate family emergencies that require our time and attention, yet we're forced to become full-time EDD advocates just to get basic updates on our own applications. I've tried calling dozens of times with no luck, but I'm definitely going to try some of the strategies mentioned here - especially the local EDD office approach and contacting my state rep. Thank you all for sharing your stories and tips. It's clear this system is completely broken, but knowing there's a community of people fighting the same fight makes it feel a little less impossible. We shouldn't have to work this hard for benefits we're entitled to, but I guess that's where we are. Sending strength to everyone dealing with this mess! 💙

•@Sophie Footman Welcome to this unfortunately necessary community! Your situation sounds all too familiar - 4 weeks of limbo is just unacceptable. I m'also pretty new here but have been lurking and learning from everyone s'experiences. What really strikes me about your post is how you captured exactly what makes this so frustrating - we re'dealing with family emergencies that need our focus, but instead we re'forced to become EDD detectives just to get basic information about our own benefits. It s'like they ve'designed the system to exhaust us into giving up. Definitely try the local office route that @Alberto Souchard mentioned - seems to be the most successful strategy from what I m reading.'Also, don t hesitate'to reach out to your state rep s office.'From the comments here, they actually seem to respond and help escalate cases. Hang in there, and keep us posted on your progress! 🤞

Just joining this community after finding myself in the exact same nightmare situation! My PFL application completely vanished after 6 weeks of waiting - not pending, not denied, just GONE. When I finally got through to someone (took 3 days of constant calling), they acted like it was totally normal and told me to "just reapply." No explanation, no apology, nothing. It's absolutely mind-blowing that in 2024, a state agency can lose our applications and treat it like no big deal. Meanwhile, I'm juggling a family medical crisis AND trying to decode this broken system. The stress is honestly making everything worse. Reading through everyone's experiences here is both validating and infuriating - we're all dealing with the same systemic failures. I'm definitely going to try the local EDD office strategy and reach out to my state rep. At this point, I'm willing to try anything! Thanks for creating a space where we can share strategies and support each other through this bureaucratic hell. Nobody should have to fight this hard for benefits they've earned! 😤💪

•@Diego Fisher I m'so sorry you re'dealing with this too! Just joined this community myself and your story sounds eerily similar to what I ve'been going through. 6 weeks vanishing into thin air is absolutely insane - how do they just lose "applications" in a digital system?? The fact that they act like it s'no big deal when you finally reach them is what really gets me. Like, this is our livelihood we re'talking about! I m'also juggling family responsibilities while trying to navigate this mess, and you re'right - the stress just makes everything so much harder. It s'honestly a relief to find this community and realize I m'not the only one dealing with these systemic failures. Definitely try the local office route that others have mentioned - seems like that s'been the most successful approach. We really shouldn t'have to become full-time advocates just to access our own benefits, but here we are! Keep fighting and keep us updated on how it goes 🙏
