PFL Claim Corrections: Doctor on Vacation, Need Extension ASAP! Help!
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle with my PFL claim. I need to make some corrections, but my doctor is on vacation until next Monday. They only gave me 10 days from May 1st to submit everything. I'm hoping to get an extension since the doctor's office has the paperwork and notice of corrections. Has anyone dealt with something similar? Any advice on how to handle this situation?

Ugh, I feel ya. The PFL system can be such a pain sometimes. Have you tried calling them to explain the situation? They might be able to give you an extension over the phone.

•Thanks for the suggestion! I've been trying to get through on the phone, but it's been impossible. Always busy or disconnected 😫

•Pro tip: call right when they open. Like, set an alarm and everything. Sometimes you can get through if youre one of the first callers of the day.

•That's a great idea! I'll definitely try that tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed 🤞

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

•Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

•I was skeptical at first too, but it actually worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration.

•How long did it take for them to call you back?

•It took about 2 hours for me, but I've heard it can vary depending on how busy they are. Still way better than trying to call yourself all day!

Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything! Write down when you received the notice, when your doctor went on vacation, and when they'll be back. 2. Try to get something in writing from your doctor's office about their absence. 3. Keep calling PFL until you get through. Be persistent! 4. When you do get through, explain the situation calmly and ask for an extension. Emphasize that it's out of your control. 5. If they won't budge, ask to speak to a supervisor. 6. As a last resort, consider contacting your local state representative's office. They can sometimes intervene in these situations. Good luck! The system is frustrating, but don't give up. 💪

•This is solid advice. I'd add: keep a log of all your calls - date, time, who you spoke to. It can help if you need to escalate later.

OMG I'm literally in the same boat rn 😭 My doctor's on maternity leave and I'm freaking out about my deadlines. This system is so broken!

Have you checked their website? Sometimes they have forms for extension requests that you can submit online. Might be worth a shot!

unpopular opinion: maybe we should all just show up at their office enmasse. bet theyd fix the system real quick if they had to deal with us face to face 🤔
