PFLA claim pending for 3 weeks, doctor can't extend leave - what to do?
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle with my PFLA claim. I applied on January 17th and my doctor filled out their part on the 24th. It's been almost 3 weeks since then, and I still haven't gotten paid. The claim is still pending, and I'm worried I might have done something wrong. To make matters worse, my doctor tried to extend my leave until February 14th, but the system won't let them update the return-to-work date. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice on what I should do next?

Ugh, I feel your pain! The PFLA system is such a mess. I had a similar issue last year and it took FOREVER to get resolved. Have you tried calling them? It's a pain, but sometimes that's the only way to get answers.

•I've been trying to call, but I can never get through. It's so frustrating! How long did it take for your issue to get resolved?

•It took about 6 weeks for me, but I know others who waited even longer. Keep trying to call, and maybe try early in the morning or late in the afternoon. Sometimes those times are less busy.

•Pro tip: use a auto-dialer app. It'll keep redialing until you get through. Saved me hours of frustration!

I actually found a way to get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

•Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit? Has anyone else tried it?

•I was skeptical at first too, but it really worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration and got my issue resolved in one call.

•$20 seems steep just to make a phone call. Is it really worth it?

•For me, it was totally worth it. I wasted way more than $20 worth of time trying to get through on my own. Plus, the peace of mind was priceless.

Have you checked your online account? Sometimes there are updates or requests for additional information there that they don't tell you about. It's worth double-checking!

This is why the system is so messed up. They make it impossible to update simple things like return-to-work dates. It's like they WANT us to make mistakes so they can deny claims. 🤬

•Preach! 🙌 The whole system needs an overhaul. It's 2023, why can't they have a decent online portal that actually works?

•Guys, lets not assume malice when incompetence is a perfectly good explanation. The system sucks, but I doubt theyre actively trying to screw us over.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Keep calling every day. Use the auto-dialer trick mentioned earlier if you can. 2. Check your online account daily for updates or requests. 3. If your doctor can't update the return-to-work date online, have them fax in a written request to extend your leave. 4. Document EVERYTHING. Every call, every letter, every online update. 5. If you still can't get through, consider contacting your local state representative. They often have liaisons who can help with these issues. 6. As a last resort, the $20 calling service mentioned might be worth a try. Remember, persistence is key. Don't give up! The system is frustrating, but keep at it and you'll get your benefits eventually.

Has anyone tried going to their local PFLA office in person? I've heard sometimes that can help speed things up.

•I tried that last month. Waited 4 hours only to be told they couldn't help and I needed to call the main number. Total waste of time. 😑
