Filed for family leave in October, still no update from EDD. Anyone else waiting this long?

Has anyone else been waiting forever for an update on their family leave claim? I filed mine back in October and still haven't heard anything. It's been months! I'm starting to get really worried about how I'm gonna pay my bills. Anyone know how long this usually takes or if there's a way to speed things up?

I found a way to solve long family leave claim delays, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SmjneqyS0kU

Ugh, I feel your pain! I've been waiting since September for mine. It's ridiculous how long they're taking. Have you tried calling them? I've been trying to get through for weeks but no luck so far.

Calling is useless, I swear they never pick up šŸ™„ I've probably called like 50 times this month alone

Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 30 minutes on hold that way!

Thanks for the tip! I'll give that a shot tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed šŸ¤ž

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work? How long did you have to wait?

20 bucks? That's highway robbery! The government should make this service free 😤

It definitely works! I was skeptical too, but I got through in about 2 hours. Way better than wasting my whole day on hold. And yeah, it sucks to pay, but it was worth it for me to finally get some answers.

Here's what I've learned from my experience and research: • Processing times vary wildly, but 6-8 weeks is average • If it's been longer, there might be an issue with your claim • Check your online account for any messages or requests for additional info • If you can get through on the phone, ask for a 'claim specialist' - they have more authority to help • Document EVERYTHING - dates you called, who you spoke to, what they said • Consider contacting your local state representative's office - they can sometimes expedite claims Hang in there, OP! The system is frustrating, but keep pushing and you'll get your benefits eventually.

Wow, thank you so much for all this info! I'll definitely check my online account again and try to get ahold of a claim specialist. Really appreciate you taking the time to write all this out!

Have you tried faxing your claim? I know it sounds crazy, but I've heard some people have had luck with that. Apparently, the fax goes to a different department or something.

What year is it, 1995? šŸ˜‚ But for real, if it works, it works!

I... don't even know where I'd find a fax machine these days lol. But I'm desperate enough to try anything at this point!

guys i think i figured it out. if you sacrafice a goat under the full moon while chanting the state anthem backwards, your claim gets approved instantly. worked for me! šŸšŸŒ•
