EDD Error E311 when applying for PFL - info doesn't match records. Help!

I'm trying to apply for Paid Family Leave but I keep getting Error E311 on the website. It says the information I provided doesn't match EDD records. I called and they told me I need to talk to the computer department to fix this. Has anyone else run into this issue? How did you resolve it? I'm trying to file for leave starting in October and I'm getting worried I won't be able to submit my application in time.

I found a way to solve EDD Error E311 issues, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JSlIl06gyp0

Ugh, classic EDD nonsense. I swear their system is held together with duct tape and prayers. Have you double-checked all your info? Sometimes even a tiny typo can cause that error.

Yeah, I've triple-checked everything. My name, SSN, DOB - it all looks correct. I'm starting to think it might be an issue on their end.

It probably is. EDD's systems are notoriously glitchy. Keep calling and don't give up!

I had the same issue last year! It was so frustrating. Turns out there was a discrepancy between my married name on my current ID and my maiden name in their old records. Took forever to sort out. Maybe check if something like that could be causing your problem?

Oh wow, I hadn't even thought of that. I'll definitely look into it. How long did it take you to resolve?

0 coins

It took about 2 weeks of back and forth calls and emails. Make sure you keep detailed notes of every conversation!

Hey, I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit? Anyone else tried it?

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken 🤦‍♂️

I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imho.

Can confirm, I've used this service too. It's legit and saved my sanity.

Have you tried clearing your browser cache and cookies? Sometimes that can help with weird website errors. Also, try using a different browser altogether. EDD's site seems to work better on some browsers than others.

Error E311 is usually related to identity verification issues. Here's what I'd recommend: 1. Double-check all personal info (name, SSN, DOB, address) 2. Ensure your name matches exactly what's on your Social Security card 3. If you've changed your name recently, make sure EDD has the updated info 4. Try accessing the system during off-peak hours (early morning or late evening) 5. If all else fails, you might need to verify your identity in person at an EDD office Hope this helps! Let us know if you make any progress.

ain't that the truth 💯 feels like we're all just clowns in their circus sometimes

Have you considered reaching out to your local state representative? Sometimes they can help push things through when you're stuck in EDD limbo.

0 coins

I hadn't thought of that. How would I go about contacting them?

Just google your district and 'state representative'. Most have forms on their websites for constituent services. They can often work miracles with government agencies!

Ive been dealing with EDD for 6 months now and still havent gotten my benifits. The whole system is a joke. Good luck getting any real help from them 🙄

Hey OP, just a heads up - make sure you're using the official EDD website. There are a lot of scam sites out there trying to steal people's info. The real site should end in .ca.gov

Thanks for the warning! I double-checked and I'm definitely on the right site. At least that's not the issue 😅

I work in IT (not for EDD tho) and Error E311 sounds like a database mismatch issue. It's probably on their end, not yours. Keep calling and escalate to a supervisor if you can. Don't let them give you the runaround.

This ☝️ Escalate, escalate, escalate. It's the only way to get anything done with government agencies sometimes.

I've dealt with E311 errors before - super frustrating! One thing that worked for me was making sure my address exactly matched what's on file with the Social Security Administration. Even something as small as "Street" vs "St" can cause issues. Also, if you've moved recently, EDD might still have your old address on file. You can try updating your address through their online portal first, then wait 24-48 hours before trying to submit your PFL application again. The system needs time to sync the changes. Hope this helps!

This is really helpful advice! I never would have thought that something as minor as "Street" vs "St" could cause such a major headache. I recently moved about 6 months ago and updated my address with some agencies but maybe not all of them. I'll definitely check to make sure everything matches exactly with SSA. Thanks for the tip about waiting 24-48 hours for the system to sync - that's the kind of detail EDD never tells you about!
