Applied for PFL over a month ago, no money or updates from EDD. What to do?

I applied for PFL benefits over a month ago and still haven't received any money. Has anyone else experienced long delays? I'm getting worried because I haven't heard anything from them at all. No updates, no payments, nothing. It's been radio silence since I submitted my application. How long did it take for you guys to get your benefits? Any advice on what I should do next?

I found a way to solve PFL benefit delays quickly, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xIUkd3AqCMg

Ugh, I feel your pain. I waited almost 2 months before I saw a dime. The system is so backed up right now, its ridiculous. Have you tried calling them? That might help speed things up.

2 months?! That's insane. I've tried calling but can never get through. It's so frustrating.

Same here. I've been calling everyday for weeks and always get the 'too busy' message. It's like they don't even want to help us šŸ™„

Yeah, calling is a nightmare. I had to redial like 50 times before I got through. Keep trying tho, it's worth it when you finally reach someone!

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Are you sure it's legit?

I've heard of services like this. How long did you have to wait?

It's 100% legit. I was skeptical too, but it really worked. I waited about 2 hours, but I didn't have to sit there listening to hold music. They just called me when an agent was ready.

$20 seems steep just to make a phone call. Is it really worth it?

For me, it was totally worth it. I was able to get my issue resolved and start receiving my benefits. Time is money, ya know? šŸ’Æ

Here's what I've learned from my experience and research about PFL benefit delays: • Processing times can vary widely, from 2-8 weeks on average • High volume of claims due to the pandemic has caused major backlogs • Make sure your application is complete - missing info can cause delays • If it's been over 8 weeks, definitely try to contact them • Check your spam folder for any communications you might have missed • You can also try reaching out via social media - sometimes they respond there • Keep all your documentation handy in case they request additional info Hang in there! The system is frustrating but eventually it does work.

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed info! Really helpful. I'll double-check my application and try reaching out on social media.

I'm in the exact same boat. Applied 6 weeks ago and crickets since then. This whole system is a joke. How are we supposed to survive while they take their sweet time? 🤬

Preach! šŸ‘ The government expects us to have infinite savings or something

It's almost like they want us to give up and go back to work sick šŸ¤”

Pro tip: if you can, apply for PFL before you actually need it. I applied a month before my leave started and got my first payment right on time. Planning ahead really helped in my case.

This! šŸ’Æ Wish I had known this earlier. Definitely gonna remember for next time.

Anyone else notice that the EDD website is always "under maintenance" when you try to log in? It's like they're actively trying to make this process as difficult as possible šŸ™„

omg yes! I swear its down more often than its up. So annoying

Pro tip: try accessing the site late at night or early morning. Less traffic = better chance of getting in.

Has anyone tried contacting their local representative? I've heard sometimes they can help speed things up with EDD.

I did this! My state assembly member's office was super helpful. They have a direct line to EDD and got my claim sorted in like a week.

How do you even find out who your local rep is? šŸ¤”

Just Google '[your city] state representative'. Most have contact forms on their websites. Good luck!

I'm going through the exact same thing right now - applied 5 weeks ago and haven't heard a peep from them. It's so stressful not knowing what's happening with your application. I've been checking my bank account daily and refreshing the EDD portal constantly. Reading through these comments is actually really helpful though - I had no idea about contacting local representatives or that there were services to help get through on the phone. Definitely going to try some of these suggestions. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences, at least now I know I'm not alone in this nightmare! 😩
