EDD repayment & therapy costs - need advice on payment plans and keeping medical treatment
Hey everyone, I'm in a tough spot with my unemployment benefits and need some advice. I didn't file an appeal and now they're asking me to pay back some money. Does anyone know if I can set up a payment plan? Also, I'm worried about my ongoing medical treatments. I've been paying $100 per session for therapy, but if I lose my benefits, I won't be able to afford it anymore. Has anyone been in a similar situation or know what options I might have?

I've been there, buddy. It's a real pain in the ass dealing with the unemployment office. Here's what I know: 1. Payment plans: Yeah, they usually offer them. Call and ask about their repayment options. 2. Medical treatments: Look into low-cost clinics in your area. Some offer sliding scale fees based on income. 3. Appeals: Even if you didn't file one initially, you might still have options. Don't give up! Hang in there, this system is a mess but you'll figure it out!

•This is great advice! I'd also suggest checking if your therapist offers a sliding scale. Many do for patients going through financial hardship.

•Thanks for the detailed response! I'll definitely ask about the payment plan. Do you know if I can still get medical coverage while I'm sorting this out?

•It depends on your state, but in many cases, you can still qualify for Medicaid or other low-cost health insurance options even if you're dealing with unemployment issues. Check your state's health insurance marketplace.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. •Sounds sketchy. Is this legit? Has anyone else tried it?

Have you considered applying for state disability? If your therapy is for a condition that affects your ability to work, you might qualify. It could help cover some costs while you sort out the unemployment issue.

idk about payment plans, but I do know that if you're having financial hardship, you can sometimes get your therapy costs reduced. Talk to your therapist about it - many have programs for patients who are struggling financially.

•Totally agree. We should start a petition or something. This can't go on.

Hey OP, sorry youre going through this. Quick question - did you receive any notices before they started asking for repayment? Sometimes they send important info to old addresses and it causes problems.

•Now that you mention it, I did move recently. I should double-check if I updated my address with them. Thanks for pointing that out!
