EDD check authorized 8+ days ago but not delivered - worried about misdelivery and unauthorized cashing
Hey everyone, I'm freaking out a bit here. My unemployment check was authorized over a week ago, but it still hasn't shown up in my mailbox. I'm worried it might have been delivered to the wrong address. Has anyone else dealt with this? I'm scared someone might cash it if it was misdelivered. I'm already behind on bills and don't know what to do. Any advice would be really appreciated!

Ugh, that sucks! I've been there before. First thing you should do is contact the unemployment office ASAP. Tell them your check hasn't arrived and you're worried it might have been misdelivered. They can usually put a stop payment on the original check and issue a new one. Don't wait around hoping it'll show up!

•Thanks for the advice! I'll definitely give them a call first thing tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed they can sort this out quickly 🤞

This happened to me last year! Here's what I did: 1. Called the unemployment office (be prepared to wait) 2. Explained the situation and requested a stop payment 3. Asked them to reissue the check 4. Updated my mailing address just in case 5. Set up direct deposit for future payments It took about 2 weeks to get the new check, but at least I knew it was coming. Hope this helps!

•Wow, thank you so much for the detailed steps! This is super helpful. I'll definitely follow your advice. Did you have any issues with the stop payment process?

•Nah, it was pretty smooth once I actually got through to someone. Just make sure you have all your info ready when you call!

have you checked with your local post office? sometimes they hold onto mail if theres an issue with delivery. might be worth swinging by and asking

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•Sounds sketchy af. You sure this isn't a scam?

•Nah, it's legit. I was skeptical too but it saved me hours of hold time. Worth every penny imo

•How does it work exactly? Do they give you a specific time to expect the call?

•Yeah, you choose a time slot and they call you when they get an agent. Super convenient!

The whole system is a joke. I've been waiting 3 months for my claim to even be processed. Good luck getting any help from those clowns 🤡

•Have you tried contacting your local representative? Sometimes they can help speed things up

Pro tip: If you do end up calling, try early in the morning right when they open. The wait times are usually shorter then. Also, be super nice to the person who answers - they deal with angry people all day and being friendly can go a long way!
