EDD check misdelivered - what to do?
Hey everyone, I'm having an issue with my unemployment payment. I was supposed to receive a check, but it looks like it was misdelivered. Has anyone else dealt with this before? What should I do next? I'm getting worried because I really need that money.

Ugh, that sucks! I had a similar issue last year. Have you tried calling the unemployment office? They should be able to help you track it down or reissue the check.

•I've been trying to call them all day, but the lines are always busy. It's so frustrating!

•Pro tip: call right when they open. Like, set an alarm and everything. Sometimes you can get through if youre one of the first callers.

•Calling them is a joke. I spent 3 hours on hold last week and then got disconnected 🤬

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

•Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work?

•Yeah, it does! I was skeptical at first too, but I was desperate. It saved me hours of frustration.

•$20 seems steep just to make a phone call. The system is so broken 😤

•I get it, but for me, it was worth it. Time is money, and I was wasting whole days trying to get through.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Write down when you were supposed to receive the check, when you noticed it was missing, etc. 2. Check with your local post office. Sometimes checks get returned there. 3. Contact the unemployment office ASAP. Use their online portal if you can't get through on the phone. 4. If you suspect theft, file a police report. 5. Ask about direct deposit for future payments. It's more secure. 6. Be patient but persistent. Keep following up until it's resolved. Hope this helps! Let us know how it goes.

OMG this happened to me last month! It turned out my neighbor accidentally got my check and was on vacation for a week. Maybe check with your neighbors?

•Oh wow, I hadn't even thought of that! I'll ask around, thanks for the suggestion.

This is why I always opt for direct deposit. Way less hassle, and you get your money faster too.

•True, my bad. Didn't mean to sound privileged or anything.

The whole system is a joke. They make it so hard to get what we're owed. Hang in there, OP. 💪

idk if this helps, but last time I had an issue, I reached out to my state representative's office. They have liaisons who can sometimes cut through the red tape faster than we can on our own.

•This is actually really good advice. I did this once for a different government issue and it worked like a charm!
