EDD approved claim but no debit card or payment yet - how long does it usually take?

My unemployment case was approved but I still haven't received any payment. It's been a while and I'm getting worried. They're supposed to send me a debit card, but I haven't gotten any tracking info or estimated delivery date. Does anyone know how long this typically takes? I'm starting to feel really frustrated with the whole process.

I found a way to solve unemployment payment delays, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H0qpmZ6X_j8

Ugh, I feel ya. I was in the same boat a few months ago. It usually takes about 7-10 business days to get the card after approval, but it can vary. Have you tried calling them to check on the status?

Thanks for the info! I've been trying to call but can never get through. It's so frustrating 😤

Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 30 mins on hold that way!

Good idea, I'll try that tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed 🤞

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

Yeah, it's totally legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo

How long did it take for them to get someone on the line?

It took about 2 hours for me, but I didn't have to sit there listening to hold music the whole time. They just called me when an agent was ready.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Double-check your mailing address on file 2. Call and ask for the exact date the card was mailed 3. Request expedited shipping if possible 4. Ask if there's a way to track the card 5. Verify there are no holds on your account If all else fails, you can request a check instead of the card. It might take a bit longer, but at least you'll get your money. Good luck!

Wow, thanks for the detailed advice! I'll definitely follow these steps. Really appreciate it 💯

This is great info. Wish I had known this when I was waiting for my card!

lol welcome to the wonderful world of EDD 🤡 where everything's made up and the timelines don't matter

🤣🤣🤣 ain't that the truth

I swear they just throw darts at a calendar to decide when to send payments

Have you checked your spam folder? Sometimes the email with tracking info ends up there. Also, make sure to create an account on the debit card website once you get it. You can set up alerts for when money is added.

I had this problem and it turned out there was a flag on my account for identity verification. Didn't get any notice about it. Had to upload a bunch of documents to prove I was me. Might be worth asking if theres any pending issues on your claim.

Oh no, that sounds like a nightmare. I'll definitely ask about that when I call. Thanks for the heads up!

anyone else think its crazy that in 2023 were still dealing with physical debit cards? why cant they just do direct deposit like a normal job smh

0 coins

Preach! 🙌 The whole system needs an overhaul

They do offer direct deposit tho? At least in my state. You just have to set it up.

Wait, for real? How did I not know this 🤦‍♂️

I'm going through the exact same thing right now! My claim was approved about 2 weeks ago and still nothing. I've been checking my mailbox obsessively every day. It's so stressful when you're depending on that money. From what I've read online, it seems like the timeframe can be anywhere from 1-3 weeks depending on mail delays and processing. Have you tried checking if there's a way to see the status online? I'm thinking of trying that calling service someone mentioned above if I don't hear anything by Friday.
